They had a pediatric anesthesiologist from Children's Hospital come out for the procedure and guided us through every step of the way. We felt safe, we felt heard, and we felt supported. Ultimately, our daughter had better outcomes than expected! Not only is the team amazing, but their office is clean, modern and perfect for kids. If your kiddo is nervous or anxious about visiting a dentist, Dr. Hazel's team will put them at ease. Between toys in the lobby, screens on the ceiling, and fun toothpaste flavors, your child will love coming to visit the Iron Horse Pediatric team.

This review is long overdue but I feel needed to help future parents who are considering Iron Horse…read morefor their kids.  Cons: I came to Iron Horse in the first place b/c of a bad experience at another dental office and was hoping it would be my "forever" dentist.  I was incorrect and should have trusted my gut. This place is very x ray happy and does so without your permission, consent or any heads up.  I had made it clear I wanted the x ray schedule to be more on the conservative side since we were coming from other offices who had also done x rays which I provided.  During the last visit I was there we weren't due for X rays for 6 months and I had to physically stop them from doing an x ray on my son that wasn't necessary (more nice to have).  I forced them to write on my file to get my sign off before doing x rays moving forward.  I also realized after leaving Iron Horse that they did a Panoramic X ray on my son which is only supposed to be done every few years. During another visit my son had a full set of x rays done for a routine check up and was told "he was fine and that there were no issues" by Dr. Hazel. 2 weeks later he returned to do sealant (something the office pushed that I shouldn't have done) and Dr. Hazel found a huge cavity in a previous filling that she said was "created in the last 2 weeks".  The whole series of events seemed strange b/c why didn't we see this cavity 2 weeks prior during the check up? Was the cracked filling created while they were doing the sealant? What are the chances of a cavity being created in 2 weeks? I was very confused and didn't get much clarity when I pushed for answers which didn't sit well with me.  This interaction + doing x rays without my sign off ultimately caused me to leave the office. Pros: Dr. Hazel is nice to the kids and makes the experience positive and the office has all kinds of fun bells and whistles to make it an engaging experience for the kids (massage chairs, toys, ipads etc..) At the end of the day if you're looking for a more conservative dentist who will only push required procedures, x rays and suggestions this isn't the place for you.

They see all my kids at once, no need to wait for each other. Been coming to DPDO for about 7 yrs now. Hight quality care, would not go anywhere else. Recommend for sure. Plenty of parking and after check up toys :)

Late in the evening - around 9:00 p.m. - we called an emergency pediatric dental advice line that some Bay Area dentists participate in, hoping to get immediate guidance. Thankfully, Dr. Ozzie answered my call. She stayed on the phone with me for nearly 45 minutes, carefully listening as I explained what the ER had shared. She even texted me from her personal phone so I could send X-rays, reviewed them thoroughly, and provided a clear diagnosis along with thoughtful guidance on what to discuss with our pediatric orthodontist. Beyond that, she generously shared additional insights about children's breathing and what to address with our pediatrician before adult teeth come in. It was immediately obvious how knowledgeable Dr. Ozzie is - but even more evident is how much she genuinely cares about children and her work. What makes this experience so remarkable is that it was entirely over the phone: I had never met her, we didn't have an appointment, and this was simply a random emergency call to the first available pediatric dentist. Yet she treated us with incredible kindness, patience, and attention. I have never encountered a dentist like Dr. Ozzie. I only wish our insurance were in-network with her practice. I am deeply grateful for the time and care she gave us during a stressful moment. Thank you, Dr. Ozzie - your patients are truly lucky.

When I pushed back, Dr.Rahman couldn't give me a specific reason my child needed the x-rays, only some generic answer about how cavities can't always be seen visually and they start x-rays for all patients at 3 years old. Coming from a medical family and having done extensive research on the topic, I was not comfortable with this and on our way out, Dr.Rahman already was pushy in telling me we needed to get the x-rays on our next visit. That was it for me, and we found a new dental office after this experience. "Dentists should not rely on a blanket policy for all patients, according to guidelines set out by the American Dental Association. Instead they are to inspect each mouth for cavities or gum disease and then recommend specific x-rays for specific reasons. "It has to be personalized," said Dr.Analia Veitz-Keenan, the director of evidence-based dentistry at New York University College of Dentistry. "It's not one-size fits all." These x-rays were not absolutely necessary, they were "routine" based only on his age.

After…read moremy long-time dentist retired, I gave 3-4 different dentists a chance but they all proved untrustworthy (e.g. telling me I needed expensive procedures I knew I did not need) and/or were ill equipped (e.g. rundown offices with out-of-date equipment). Good luck it was finding Dr. Jin, whose offices and equipment are always state-of-the-art! For example, at the start of the pandemic, she quickly acquired the latest health-safety equipment that enabled her to continue serving her patients without hazard. Her office and its location comes close to "luxurious," as well as just simply lovely, comfortable and convenient (easy access from HWY 680 in San Ramon, fairly near Costco, etc.) For all this, one might anticipate top-of-the-line billing, but no, compared to charges from other dentists dating from 10 years ago, not unreasonable. Especially, considering all the extra expenses I would be paying for the unnecessary procedures that had been proposed - and on one occasion "demanded" if I were to become a patient. I recently dropped my retired-teacher dental insurance and am now on self-pay, which turns out to be cheaper, even given a new crown looming in the future. The courtesy and sincere interest the entire staff shares with you reinforce the comfortable feelings you feel the first time you step into the building itself, even before reaching the office. And an extra plus: highly skilled hygienists...Tiffany, for one, is the best ever ! That being said, all in all, trust is the best feature of Dr. Jin's service -- she trusts you and will work with you to meet your situation and needs. And you can definitely trust her !
