Actually quite good for cheap Chinese/take-out style food. The lo mein was pretty flavorful, not dry, and delicious. I also liked the orange beef which I think many places don't do well. We had a beef brisket from the Chinese menu which was flavored with more authentic spices. My friends also enjoyed their dishes, but I can't remember what they were. read more

I would rate the service -3 star award for one of the rudest serving staff of the year. And the food, 1 star. Just because there are only few Chinese restaurants in Morgantown they (including the arrogant owner) are running a take-it-leave-it place with poor service and badly prepared food. This place tasted worse that general chopstix.. For example, the waitress didn't even want to offer their one page lunch menu to us. The utinsels look as if its straight from State Penn. My shrimp mushroom was so salty that I got a headache. My friend ordered hot beef noodles and the waitress gave us a dirty look and said it would take 15 minutes after she first told us it was not on the lunch menu. More to say but will stop here... Looked on Yelp and saw this place, and it is within walking distance of my hotel. Not the worst place I have ever eaten, and not the worst Chinese. I had the hot and sour soup and the twin imperial dish (shrimp and filet in rice wine). Portion sizes were fine. Price was inexpensive. Service was adequate. I think the glowing reviews may be simply due to not having a lot of authentic choice in this area. The interior is dated and in need of a drastic update. Seats torn, and the table cleanliness was so-so. There was a small child who was obviously part of the owner's family, and he was talking about transformers in a loud 'outside' voice to anyone at any table that would make eye contact with him. That was a bit annoying after about 20 minutes of it. But, children will be children:-). Nice folks, but not a place that I will seek out the next time I am here, if I am back to this part of the country again any time soon. read more

Fantastic sit down (non buffet) Chinese...especially for the money. Lunch is served with ice water, hot tea, soup (egg drop, wonton, or hot and sour), eggroll, fried rice, and the entree all for around $6! Quality is fantastic. Dinner is a little bit more pricey, but portions are huge, so expect to get another meal (or two) out of leftovers...or split a dinner, since it is served family style! First time reviewing a restaurant but felt that I needed to say this. Been going here for years. Ever since it opened. Always great food. On 6/27/18 went by myself for a bite. Owner was not there. Had 2 waitstaff, blonde female, brown haired fellow. Both Americans. Fried dumplings and roast pork app both on point. Beef mku shu not so much. Just was bitter and not so good. Oh well. First time trying it so just not my cup of tea. What irritated me was I was never checked on, drinks not refilled. Basically and dump food off and go. Had to ask other server for boxes. So as I leave I tell the guy my mku shu not so good. He said he'd tell the kitchen. Mind you I didn't take any home. Then I say it would've been nice if you would have checked on me and asked if my food was good. He didn't apologize and flippantly said have a good night. Then as I leave I see the girl. I told her she was a good waitress and that it's proper to actually check on your people and make sure they are all good. I said unlike my waiter that never came back to my table. She flippantly says well that's my brother. I say so what and leave. My thoughts on this is yet another case of millennium attitude where they all think they are entitled to everything and cannot take or accept any criticism whatsoever. Where working towards a goal isn't even in their vocabulary. So basically bad attitudes from the both. Is it a surprise that they are siblings? No. There is an asian lady that has waitressed there forever. Always on point, polite, speedy, and most accommodating. I will be letting the owner know this. Such a shame two people with entitled attitudes can make a person that has supported this restaurant for over 20 years not want to ever come back. read more

Very nice Chinese sit down restaurant. Pleasant atmosphere with cloth tablecloths and pretty blue and white china. Nicely decorated. Quickly greeted and seated. Choice of booth or table. Brought out water and hot tea before we could ask for it. Friendly and attentive staff. Food was good and nicely presented. Would go here again. 4 stars out of 5, only because I reserve 5 stars for fine dining when it makes the grade. read more

Visited Sunday afternoon. Front of the house was understaffed, with a single waitress taking care of everything. Even when the place was not particularly busy, she had to work non-stop, fortunately she was able to do it all and remain friendly. My wife ordered General Tso's Chicken but the dish she got was Shrimp. She said it was just okay. I had Chicken in Curry Sauce. The menu called it spicy, but it was mostly just overtly salty, with not much curry flavor. The dish looked like it had been made with a lot of frozen vegetables, and it felt that way too since it was not very warm. There was surprisingly little chicken, and overall the dish was a disappointment. This is the first time I've had food left over at a Chinese restaurant that I did not want a box for. read more

This was the worst Chinese food I've ever had ... The "Lo Mien" was made with spaghetti noodles and was saltier than a salt lick! I rate most Chinese restaurants by their egg rolls .... They only had spring rolls which were very empty and tasteless. I had to force down my entrée and then go somewhere else to eat so I felt fed. Never again. read more

This restaurant deserves 0 stars. Worst service and food I've ever had! When we got there they didn't even ask what drinks we wanted. When we tried to order drinks the waitress ran off into a different direction. She didn't even take her time to let us order! We got the cheese wontons and they had a hair in them!! We sent them back and the chef came and accused us of planting the hair in the food! The chef then caused a huge scene yelling that we placed hair in the food and none of the cooks in the kitchen had white hair. I will never go back or recommend it to anyone!!! read more

I've been coming to Peking House for over 15 years for their fantastic lunch special. Service isn't the best, but the food is consistent and you can't beat the price; $7.00 for soup, spring roll, entree, and rice. Shrimp with mushrooms and egg drop soup is my go-to order. Pho in Morgantown? FINALLY!!! I'm a bit of a Pho addict, and when I moved into town I'll admit I was worried. Then I read that Peking house serves it (albeit off-menu) and I had to try it. It is high quality and delicious. The dumplings are also excellent as well. Came back to MGW to take care some business n stopped Peking House for the best in MGW chinese food. Kurt and his brother, Robert, are the friendliest owners I have ever met. And they have created a new "secret"menu only in chinese. I tasted a few of the dishes from that menu n they are even better than dishes from the original menu. Now Peking House has beef chow fun, pho, cantonese beef filet, n many new delicious items. Ask your server for the special menu n ask kurt to explain what each one is if u don't read chinese, menu is in chinese only. I told kurt he needs to add English description to those delicious items n hope he will follow thru when I visit next time. read more

Had dinner here several nights ago and I was very impressed and pleased. I ordered the Four Flavors Beef, and it was delicious. It was supposed to be a spicy dish, and could have been more so for me, but all in all it had a great flavor and the serving size was quite generous. The atmosphere of the restaurant was pleasant, all that I ordered was delicious, the wait staff was pleasant and attentive - couldn't ask for more. This is the first Chinese place in Morgantown I have tried. We played it safe with the hot and sour soup, orange chicken, and triple meat dishes to assess how well they did the "basics." The soup was great, the orange chicken was pretty dang good, and the triple was just ok. All in all, great service, nice atmosphere, and pretty solid food. I'll be back. read more

The rice and fortune cookie were good, but that's about it. The Schezuan Bean Curd was just that...a pile of uncooked tofu in a mildly spicy sauce with no vegetables at all! Disguisting! I will definitely never order from there again. I make better food at home. read more

Won ton soup was okay. Ordered shrimp with cashew nuts. Had to search for the cashews through all of the vegetables. Found a few cashews, not what I was expecting at all. Can I give zero star? I ordered a simple beef fried rice..dinner size to go. There were not more than 7 pieces of beef in my box. It was the worst tasting fried rice I ever had. Not even a packet of soy sauce or fortune was in the take out bag. Would not have made any difference anyway. Had to throw most of it away. Ate a donut to satisfy my hunger. Why is this place always closed at the best time to go eat (away from the rush, during business hours)? The decor is nice, prices good, they know how to have your tea already prepared for you, and food is not bad (not great either), but the music is bad poppy radio music (should be traditional Chinese music), which is really awkward. Oddly enough, in the 10-15 minutes before their lunch segment ends, they can't be found to pay your bill. Took forever, after that closing mark to get paid up. Not good. Also, was hungry within 30 minutes of leaving. No reason to come back. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. Staff was friendly but food was god awful. Had to stop at sheetz on the way back just to get the disgusting taste out of my mouth. If I was given this for free, I would even feed it to my dog. Seriously, don't go here and just get some tyson chicken at walmart, it's the same thing. Went to Peking House for lunch on Sunday. Decided not to get the buffet and ordered food. Service was exceptional, but food on the other hand was not. I ordered General Tso Chicken and my friend ordered Sizzling Scallop & Beef. My General Tso Chicken was ok, but the Sizzling Scallop & Beef was more of a beef and veggie stir fry with one scallop cut into 3 pieces. As soon as the server returned we notified her and she said she would speak to the manager. She came back with two solutions, either we can have 50% off our bill or have the scallops re-made. Since we had appetizers and soup, we were getting quite full and decided to just have 50% off. When we got to the counter she notified the manager/cook to ring us out at the register. Not only was the manager rude to us, but denied we had only one scallop and told us we were wrong. His appearance was appalling. His apron was filthy and looked like it hadn't been washed, and his index finger was bloody. Needless to say, we won't be returning and I will not recommend this restaurant to any of my friends! - kicker, he gave us 4 dollars off our bill. - thanks for nothing. read more

I've been here for 20 yrs, basically back when this was one of the only restaurants in town. It's gone downhill the last several years...service is not attentive, portions are smaller, you have to ask for steamed rice with entrees, and fried items are more like....burned/petrified. I was shocked walking in and the owners' wife was standing at the bar, with a phone to her ear, wearing a t-shirt reading "Tell my boobs to stop looking at your eyes." She hollers at us from across the room, asking how many people, and then directs us to a table with the phone still to her ear. I ask if we can get a booth.....she stops, turns to us and says, "go ahead and sit anywhere then". Phone still pressed to her ear. The waitress didn't even smile when taking our orders. Most places ask if you would like something to drink......besides the hot tea and ice water.....but she didn't. We had to ask ourselves for other drinks. The egg drop soup was delicious! The rice filled 3/4 of the plate, and the main dish only 1/4. I found the rice to be quite bland. And the soy sauce.......definitely not Kikkoman like the bottle says!
