As out of town visitors , after 4 days of restaurants, we were looking for vegetables, salads...lighter fare . Nothing deep fried or covered in cheese! We absolutely loved Oryza. I wish we had one in my town! Everything was fresh and made to order. We all loved our meals. My husband had a salad with spicy chicken, my son had a rice bowl with blackened shrimp, and I had a noodle bowl with teriyaki chicken. If I could give negative stars I would. I got to the restaurant and not until the end was I told that their system was down and was told to pay online for the same thing I just ordered because I didn't have cash. The guy making the food was pretty rude about it and not apologetic at all. I told them they should probably put a sign up and he said it just happened. That sounds like a poor reason to inconvenience a paying customer, especially since they knew already when we got to the register. read more

I liked this place at first but I had a bad experience with my food a few months ago. I ordered fried rice and selected the meat and toppings for takeout. I was so excited to eat then as I started eating, there were black hard burnt pieces in my fried rice which was kind of the bottom of the pan/griddle burnt pieces. It was very unpleasant and I was unable to pick through it since there was plenty of it. I ended up tossing the food. :( read more

I spent 3 weeks in Mo'town while my wife was in the hospital. A lyft driver recommended Oryza to me. I ended up ordering from them on 7 different occassions (from both locations) The wraps are HUGE and very delicious, (I am sure the bowls are too). Excellent service and very clean stores. I'd recommened everyone who is in the area to give them a try. From what I understand, they are a local business, which makes their restaurant even more attractive. I thought this was going to be a typical restaurant, but it's not, it's kind of like an Asian style Chipotle. The menu is simple enough and the ingredients are fresh, pick your bowl, salad or wrap. Then pick rice or noodles, followed by protein, then veggies and sauces. I went with rice, steak, beans, corn, egg, carrots onion and a sweet siracha sauce all in all it was good for around $9.50. I tried this place based on a couple of recommendations... I am.torn between 3 and 4 stars. The best and most accurate description I saw was asian version of chipotle. That is rather on point, but this place is to Asian food what chipotle is to Mexican food. I tried the red rice with spicy chicken, but made the mistake of getting the ginger dressing. It tasted more like thousand island with ginger. Blah. I suppose they do have some taste combinations that work better, and the food I suppose is relatively healthy and inexpensive, but overall not a wow experience for me. I'll try again another day and see if I can find a mix that tastes better to me. read more

The free sample of apple/walnut/yogurt salad(?) was the best part of the meal. I wish it was on the menu. I ordered a rice noodle bowl topped with spicy chicken, all the vegetables (which were sadly over-steamed), Thai curry sauce, and toasted garlic. Unfortunately it tasted like it was trying to be a soup but 95% of the broth was never added. Everything was room temperature, soggy, and flavorless. It might've been saved if part of the process in this kitchen was to STIR FRY everything together. And, why would it advertise itself as an Asian Grill when it also provides all the basic ingredients necessary to make a distinctly Mex-American burrito!? I'm so disappointed! read more

It was okay. This was my first time and I had the noodle bowl with chicken, kale, mushrooms and broccoli, black beans, cucumber, herb salad, spicy sesame sauce, Thai chili. Decent portion size, the kale was particularly good, but it just didn't seem as flavourful as I hoped, despite my careful sauce curation. I think you probably have to experiment a bit with the combinations here to find what you like. I preferred Bibibop in the Columbus area, but this'll do in a pinch. read more

I'd give it a 3.6, not great not terrible. It's kind of like an Asian Chipotle, although the ingredients dont seem to be as high quality as Chipotle. The food style is certainly not trying to be authentic. The sauces are especially Americanized versions of Asian style sauce. I'd put it this way, I wouldnt say no to going, but I also wouldn't suggest going. Ultimately it sits somewhere between fast food and a good restaurant. I ran in with my daughter and we had a great experience. The food was really good. The portions were huge. We could barely eat half. It's a little strange as it reminds me so much of a Chipotle or Qdoba. And not just the set up. The food options had a Mexican and Asian flare. But, still delicious. Soggy rice noodles, very dry meatballs, nothing "Asian" about the green beans, sautéed vegetables were one single vegetable, and the samba sauce was a bit one note(sweet). Rice noodles cook quickly, make to order or make the rice noodle option a soup so they finish in the broth. The meatballs need some fat plain and simple way to prevent dry meatballs. Also, go Asian here, let's see pho style meatballs instead. Green beans should be blistered with some Sichuan peppercorns. Sautéed veg was a little mushy but really should be labeled as sautéed vegetable, singular, or they should have more than one veg and don't over cook. Sambal oelek should have some flavor to it. Sweet, sour, spicy, garlicy, etc. give it some depth. Add some fish sauce. If I'm going to mention issues I try to offer ways to fix them rather than just complain. Price was great considering. Good concept. Friendly staff. Very clean. Unfortunately the food was too hot for me to eat. It's like someone dropped an entire bottle of coarse black pepper in it. I didn't get anything that should have been spicy, yet my mouth was on fire. I got through about 4 bites and it was just too much. I like seasoning and I like a nice flavorful spice, but it was just too spicy to enjoy. Maybe I'll give it another try when I'm in the area to see if maybe today it was just that an entire bottle of black pepper DID accidentally drop in the food and this was just a fluke. I decided to try Oryza for takeout for the first time in April--a bowl with regular chicken, sauteed veggies, egg, noodles, and spicy sesame. I was very disappointed that my dish tasted overwhelmingly of pepper, and I attributed it to the sauce. (Keep in mind that I very much enjoy spicy food...when it's well seasoned, and with more than pepper.) I liked the Oryza concept and thought I'd try something different and less "spicy" the next time. I ordered tonight for the second time--the same bowl ingredients, but this time I chose the korean teriyaki sauce on the side. Even without the sauce, the bowl again was seasoned with far too much pepper to be enjoyable. When I tasted the teriyaki, it, too, tasted strongly of pepper. My husband doesn't care for spicy food, and I certainly can't order this for my children, so we'll have to rule this restaurant out for future visits. On the plus side, the portions are very generous, and the Yum sauce was very good. read more
