The live plant section has winter bushes and holiday arrangements. Staff has always been friendly and helpful when I've had questions. Most items are priced on the higher side, but there are affordable trinkets if you're looking for souvenirs. This evening they had stations outside of the shop for hot chocolate and cookie decorating. On the other side of the park they have the Holiday Train Show. It's a beautiful time for a visit.

We visited NYBG for the Yayoi Kusama exhibition, and they had a section of the store specifically for Kusama items. They had a great Kusama book collection, along with other limited edition / moderately priced souvenirs. I wish they had a little more selection with the Kusama swag, but I was happy to get some polka dot socks and t shirt. Positives: the store is well stocked with all sorts of lovely items for a Jewish home, including a wide array of mezuzot, Hannukah toys, kids books, and a Havdalah set that took me back to the one my mom had in the 70's. It's a bit crowded and chaotically organized, but that's because there's a lot there. The thing I really disliked was the guy behind the counter, when I asked where the mezuzot were, said "They are made in Israel, not China. Why should we support them when we can support our own." He didn't know me, nor my politics. But he assumed a casual racism and identity xenophilia I've pushed back against with older relatives my whole life, and I'm not okay with that. We were helped by both Pedro and Chris. I must say that I've always preferred patronizing small businesses because they truly are the backbone of our communities and when they thrive, we thrive. Nothing against the larger profiles like Home Depot and Lowes but I have yet to feel the same level of customer experience that I felt when I came to this business. Pedro was amazing! He wanted to fully understand what my goal was with the room and spared no details to make it perfect. Any question I had was answered, it was as if we were filming a DIY Painting 101 video for YouTube and he nailed it. I am especially appreciative of the way they included my 9 year old daughter in every decision from paint color to the brushes and rollers. She knew her opinion mattered and I thank them for that.
