Wonder why the place isnt packed? Showed up 30 minutes before work with 2 people ahead of me and 2 tickets on the counter. The girl behind the counter waited 10 minutes to even start the other order. Waited 20 minutes my order wasnt taken. When there are tickets to be made you dont mess around you make the ticket. No one has 20 plus minutes to wait for a coffee. Really enjoyed this place. I had a chicken salad croissant and coffee. They have a huge menu selection and next time I am going to try one of their latte's. Their gift shop area has lots of cool inspirational pictures and signs as well as decor. They also have Amish furniture. About the only good thing in Bucyrus. Pelican Coffee House is more than coffee. There's also pastries and snacks. It also is a store with all kinds of knickknacks. You can find Amish furniture, among other things. Except for the coffee machines and the patrons, there's not much noise in here. Inside it's always very quiet. They had some soft music on the last time. For a place in a small town, it has a lot of choices. There's a long list of espresso flavors. A lot are made with chocolate. There's also ones that have caramel and vanilla. It's $3.75 for a small. They also have non dairy milks like almond, so good for them. I like the Mounds Bar. It's made with chocolate syrup and coconut. They also have some food. It's $1.75 for a bagel. They also have croissants and muffins. It has a convenient location. It's right on the town square. I went in here a couple of hours ago, and it was horrible. The service in this place was absolutely horrible. The rudest people I have ever winesssed in this type of service. The food and drinks are very good but are almost not even worth going in for due to extreme rude workers. They make you feel stupid and dumb when you are the paying customer. I love their coffee and the gift shop that is in there as well, I've been there twice now and Everytime I go the ladies making the coffee are very rude. I've driven past this pace many, many times but have never stopped. Well, they have a little shop that sells jewelry, arts, crafts, and other hometown items, but this week was my first time ever getting a coffee. I'm now back for my third time here in three days! First off, I'll always be choosing this place over Starbucks if I have the option. This is really good coffee with amazing flavor! It comes in white styrofoam cups, but you can't beat the coffee. So far, I've had the triple white out (loaded with coffee) and the French kiss (more subtle with great Carmel/vanilla flavor). If you want great coffee in a nice, home-style atmosphere then come give this place a try. I'm glad I did! My only complaint is that I haven't had the greatest... Hospitality here. Maybe it's because the women working here are older, and I'm a younger person in high school, and they just assume I don't care about talking. Coffee brewed with full flavor and no bitter aftertaste, creamy yet chunky egg salad. Hand sanitizer upon entering, and the space has been configured for one way traffic. Tables are six feet apart. I have been visiting this place about once a week now since I started working in Bucyrus. I am terribly picky about chicken salad. Most places make it taste like tuna salad with chicken. Happily, however, I have found this gem of a place to visit and I will continue to return. As an aside, recently I was treated to a vanilla latte from here - perfect flavor mix. So for $4.25 you get a healthy serving of chicken salad. I usually get mine on wheat bread with Swiss cheese. You also get a pickle and a bag of chips or pretzels. Boom -out the door in about 5 minutes or less and always service with a smile. For $4.75 you can get your sandwich on a croissant, which was even better, IMHO, as I thought I got much more salad! The chunks of chicken are huge, the mix of flavors, slightly sweet, no nuts or berries or stuff like that, but a good clean taste and excellent sandwich. I have zero complaints. This place also has wide variety of coffee drinks and a few other sandwiches. I have only tried the above captioned latte and chicken sandwich, but I am quite certain all the other offers are equally as tasty. The store also offers an eclectic mix of homey items - pillows, crafts, etc. I am not doing them justice with my poor description of those items - you will just have to see when you visit, which I strongly suggest you do. read more

Nice quiet place to enjoy a coffee! I always get the triple white out frappy! The chicken salad sandwiches on a croissant are also very good too. Kinda pricey but the relaxing environment makes up for that. They also sell many Amish made pieces of furniture on the other side of the shop. I dare you to go in this place and ask for a latte. Straight up. They will look at you like you have 3 heads. EVERY coffee beverage on their menu is flavored (just take a look at the board). Every single one of them. So when I asked for a regular latte the girl looked confused. "You don't want any flavor in it?" I replied, "no." She started making my drink. Mid-way through the process she said, "Do you want whipped cream?" I replied, "nope." Clearly, this is a hometown coffee place for people who want training wheels with their coffee (i.e. flavors and whipped cream). Which is fine. I've lived in this town for many years. I used to frequently come here to meet up with friends but stopped because of the terrible customer service. I had decided to give them another chance after some time, but I was still continuously disappointed. Not by the food, or by the drinks, but by the staff members. They have never treated me with respect. Nearly every time I ordered, I was "greeted" with an eye roll, a rush to take my order, or something of the sort. Today I went in there for lunch with my family, and I was waiting for close to 10 minutes. I was "greeted" by an older lady saying "what do you want?" I told her I needed my order taken. She then said "um I know, I just asked what you wanted". And was very snappy with me the entire time processing my transaction. I'm not going to stop complaining until something is done. Whether that's going to the better business bureau, or what. I was treated better by the civilian food staff at basic training. Total trash. read more

only reason why I'm leaving even two stars is because the food and coffee are good. I have been a loyal customer for years and the staff is AWFUL. I have made posts about this on Facebook and the old blonde hair ladies daughter, Maci, messaged me to take it down because so many people had negative things to say. All of them are just rude and not friendly. My company is actually down town and we boycott them due to their unprofessional attitudes. You walk in and it's like you're a huge inconvenience to them and greeted with an eye roll and a sigh. instead of 'hello, how can I help you?' it's 'what do you want? we're busy, lets go' when it will be just one more person in line. Don't even dare thinking about adding another drink to the order because all hell will break loose and they will treat you even worse. If you're not a close family friend, a friend of the old ladies kids, then you are scum and will be treated as such. Best Chai Latte I have had in a very long time! My husband had a sf hazelnut latte that was also wonderful. The Amish Vault Shop that houses the coffee shop is beautiful with lots of gifts, cards, furniture, etc, to buy or just browse thru. We will be back when traveling that way again! read more
