While the windows are nice, the entire process beginning with the sales rep, then the installers and finally the office manger is horrible. We had over 15 workers in our home on day 1 from 8:30am - 7:30pm. The main installer couldn't keep track of that many people and we had personal items, trash and damage left behind. When I inquired about the severe damage to a Japanese Maple, I was told it was my fault as I didn't relocate the tree or trim/cover it properly. Note, no one told me about the damage. It was noticed a few days after the job was completed and it was obvious someone took the broken branches off site so they knew what had happened. The sales rep also didn't seem to be aware of what was happening even though she told us she would be onsite for the installation. Not true. She came on day 2 and stayed for under 2 hours. Never came back to check on the completed work. I do not recommend this company. read more

DO NOT BUY FROM THIS FRANCHISE!!! In March 2024 we paid over $80,000 upfront for complete window replacement. *The sales rep and his supervisor GUARANTEED the installation would be done from the exterior due to the fact that my husband has a lung condition. *We were guaranteed there would be no mess and that our custom window trim would not be removed and our sheet rock would not be damaged. *We were guaranteed that the installation crew were certified and trained Pella installers that would install 4-5 windows a day. *We were guaranteed that a Pella representative would walk us through the process and be with us every step of the way. *We were guaranteed they would respect and take care of our property and belongings. But INSTEAD, all of this was a lie! *A "smash and dash" crew was sent to our house in March and they ripped out 9 windows within the first hour before I could go in the house to see what was going on! *They destroyed our custom molding, installed a large window without shims, screws, foam insulation or moisture repellant tape. And then hurried to trim it out with molding so that no one would no! *They did not cover any of our belongings or protect the solid wood floors or 100% wool rugs. Sheet rock dust EVERYWHERE!!! *There were installed with over 1" tolerance yet Pella preaches that their installation would be brick to brick and no more than 1/4-1/2" tolerance . So they "fudged it" with foam insulation and covered the gap in trim to hide it. *There were multiple windows not centered. *There were windows ordered over 2" too small. No one in installation checked behind the salesmen's measurements (Which their policy is to "out two sets of eyes on everything!" *My husband was displaced out of his home for 4 months due to sheet rock dust and had to sleep on the couch in his shop for months due to his lung condition. *The crews were very unreliable in that they would drop in to work here and there over a 4 month period making it impossible to plan vacations; we could not have anyone over (including grandsons) because our home was destroyed with plastic drapes over everything and hanging from the ceilings...(which was ridiculous because they already put sheet rock dust over our entire house and furnishings! *We are treated like we are to blame and were constantly ghosted by Pella support teams. And now 4 months later as they are finishing up replacing the final window and trim work we get word that Pella is refusing to pay a painter to sand, fill, caulk and paint the new trim work and repair the sheet rock damage!! (Estimated at $5000) Pella asked me to get an estimate and now that they see the magnitude of the damages they are refusing to pay the painter due to the fact that the material is factory primed! Do not fall for anything their sales reps promise you. I was told by Pella Installation Team Members that the Sales Team Members say whatever they want to get the job contract! I have hundreds of photos and videos of the damage as well as these Pella employees going at it Pella Sales vs Pella Installation. (And yes I let them know I was videoing them talk.) Lies are lies....whether you tell them on the job or in your personal life. Shame on the owner of this company for allowing these business practices! Good looking door. But no communication for when my door arrived, I had to call over span of 2 weeks to get an install date. I was told last minute twice that the install date wouldn't work. When the door was installed I discovered that the door could not lock due to a broken part. My door has been out of use now for almost 2 weeks. We scheduled a day to fix the door and no one calls to update me that the part had no arrived. No communication, no offer for Partial refund. read more

We had 13 windows replaced with Pella vinyl custom sized for our older 80's home and they look fantastic. We chose black color for the outside and white for the inside with a custom grill and they arrived a month earlier then expected and installation was a week later. It was great, couldn't have been better. We had an issue with how the trim would be applied after the installation with our James Hardie siding and Pella sent out their master tech expert to solve the issue. Everything went smooth and was completed in 2 days. Was a well planned installation by their expert crew. We are very happy with our purchase. I have waited 8 months for my front door. They promised 6-8 then 8-10 week delivery...The first door came 13 weeks but was the WRONG color! They "ordered" another and I am still waiting...32 weeks and counting. There is zero customer service or accountability. They do not return phone calls - Pella does not make their own products anymore it is farmed out to ProVia...Pella no longer has the good reputation it had decades ago...go somewhere else... read more

They should just stop using "& Door". We replaced four windows and our front door. Our windows were installed perfectly - the door was problematic from day one. The installer had no idea how to square up the door except to loosen the hinge screws. - Tip - not the correct way. Customer service is unresponsive especially after you've already paid them the balance of your $10,000 bill. I was able to get the door manufacturer to replace a damaged panel, bur Pella completely fell off when it came to correcting the damage of the weather stripping in the original installation or to correct the poor installation to allow the locking system to engage correctly. Although all issues were raised within days of the installation, after 18 months of pleading, I have given up on Pella. I recommend Marvin - It can't be any worse. read more

Pella referred us to OEM Blinds to have one of our blinds repaired. OEM charged us $280 to fix the blind. The same blind broke again and was within the 3 year warranty period. They refused to fix the blind and Pella has done nothing to help their customer even they referred us to OEM. Pella wants $715 for a new blind even after we have already paid OEM $280. The windows and everything came with a 10 year warranty when bought new, but now they only give you a 2 year warranty on a new blind. Probably because their quality is has gotten that bad within the last few years. I don't believe Pella is the same company it used to be. But they still charge top dollar for their products. read more

I had experience with Pella (via Home Depot) in previous homes in Pennsylvania and loved them. Patio doors were excellent - easy peazy! THEN I order a "custom patio door" from Pella direct in Charlotte NC. Disaster strikes - first the wait time went from. 4 months to 6 months "COVID" issues... okay. Then the installers arrives (great, professionals) ... problem with the door install, problem with the trim, problem with communication. THEN I'm asked to pay full balance due -even though the door is only 1/2 installed!! I gave them 1/2 - fair? THEN I was told if I didn't pay the balance now, the installers would not get paid that week...huh? No way - Installers return and do not have the correct trim and don't even have the equipment to install. Ugh Terrible - I have not even said how ugly the door tracking is...door and frame...white; track: dark bronze...then they put a cheap look OAK transition piece right in the middle of the track!! Matthew said "that is the design" - not advertised that way. This is the higher end door product. Still waiting for the trim to be corrected. NEVER again. Don't use Pella in Charlotte. read more

If i had to do it again with Pella Windows and Doors of Charlotte, I would not. The Pella windows themselves are great--seem to be of great quality and aesthetically nice. But the ordering and install process itself was really a disaster--and more importantly, the supervisor "Matthew" offered no concessions despite that. Here's what happened--we reached out to have them replace all our windows--they placed the order after I submitted measurements and they double-checked measurements. We plan 2 days out of house so they can do the install--turns out that 1/3 of the windows were the wrong size. So they have to order new windows--meanwhile we are already paying for those. nearly 2 months later the rest of the windows are installed, then they have to return again due to issues with caulking. In the end, they fixed all issues but offered no concession, discount, anything for their errors. Would have been MUCH better off had I dealt with a decent contractor rather than Pella itself. I will say my sales guy Trent was professional and responsive. But in the end they messed up, delayed our installs, and offered no concession for a nearly 2 month delay and multiday disruption that was entirely due to their error. read more

Just a word of advice. Pella is now subcontracting out their installations. You will most likely get sloppy results like I did. I had them do an installation years ago before they started subcontracting and it was a beautiful installation. Now, after a year of trying to get the job correctly, it still has molding that needs installed, door frames re-installed properly, finishing work, and the outside casing. Worst customer service ever. Signed a contract and deposit in late Aug for getting a new door, and we're prepared for a delay due to covid-19. We were contacted by Matt and were given an install date. Week before, he called again to confirm the date is good. Day before, he calls to postpone, reschedule for following week. Late afternoon day before the reschedule date, calls to cancel. I was tolerant of the first reschedule, but I come to find out that everything was a blatant lie. The materials have not even shipped from manufacture site, then need to be moved to local site for install! No new date is being provided, and I'm told by Matt that he'll let is know. When I asked for refund of my deposit, he explains that the contract does not permit refunds, and that I have to accept what ever they provide. That's they're position after feeding outright mis information. They have absolutely no business ethics whatsoever. Don't even think of doing business with these guys. read more

Before buying windows from Pella of North Carolina, I would recommend you pretend to have a warranty claim as a homeowner and try to reach service (800) 849-8550 or 336-299-1385. You will most likely find it is impossible to reach anyone in service. However, the sales team will answer the phone every time and will be happy to put into service voice mail. Pella Service of Columbia, SC is great (Larry Tullis), unfortunately they can not help with anything you purchase from Pella of North Carolina.
