Pell's Citrus & Nursery - Plum $25. - Nurseries & Gardening Near Me - Osteen, Florida

Pell's Nursery and Citrus Called in late November 2024 and asked the person answering the phone, "If I were to order navel oranges from your website, would I receive Florida Navels or California Navels?" The person with whom I spoke clearly stated they would be "Florida Navels". Cnsequently, I went ahead and placed my order and received an email indicating oranges would arrive mid-December. About two weeks later, the shipment arrived, and I excitedly opened the box, only to discover that the oranges WERE NOT FLORIDA NAVELS. They were probably grown in California or elsewhere. When I called to speak with the manager, I was told that she was unavailable. Called back two more times and was told the same thing each time. I subsequently received an email about an hour later saying "It clearly states on our web site: "Shipping fruit grown in Florida and other states". I will also note here that the email menntioned that a refund of $80.98, which covered Fedex Shipping and 24 oranges, was reportedly issued to my credit card. Browsing the seller's website, I found that indeed there is an eight word phrase about three paragraphs BELOW the Button that a potential customer would click to add the displayed navel oranges to their shopping cart. It is embedded within four other general phrases. As stated within the email, it definitely says, "Shipping fruit grown in Florida and other states". Clearly? From my perspective as a software developer, displaying this information well below the link that says, "Add To Cart" increases the likelihood that some users of the website would not be alerted to this information prior to initiating the purchase process. As a software developer, my suggestion would be to display that information in larger text and post it near the top of the page, if you truly wanted your customers to be aware of what they might be purchasing. In summary, if you truly wish to purchase Florida Navel Oranges, as was my original goal, you might want to consider attempting to do so from a different retailer. Interestingly, the email message that was sent to me said, "suggest you find another shipper for your citrus orders". Oh, and that same individual also sent me a follow-up email stating something that was likely copied and pasted from some website somewhere. The message said, "If your review is factual and represents your honest opinion, it is generally protected under freedom of speech laws. However, if the review contains false statements that harm the business's reputation and cannot be substantiated, you could face legal consequences." I find it absolutely amazing that some folks have become so brazen. read more

Nice place for plants, but do NOT buy the citrus unless you want to roll the dice. 2nd time we've bought a 1/4 bushel bag and 2nd time half of them are hard, dried up, and juiceless. Thought it was a fluke the first time it happened, and that was a while ago. How can they not know half of what they are selling is bad? Can only assume they hope most people won't return and ask for a refund. I'm not bothering, but not going there anymore, for ANYTHING. read more

I took the 35 mile trip down to Ostend to get grapefruits from Pell's. I bought a 1/4 bushel, a 1/2 gallon of grapefruit juice and a basket of kumquats. Well..... the grapefruits are TERRIBLE!! Supposed to be red. They are pink at best. Very dry and almost no flavor. The grapefruit juice was watered down and had no flavor. Kumquats were not ripe. Pell's was always my go to. WHAT HAPPENED!!! I threw away $29.00. I'm better off going to Publix!!! So disappointed. I will not be going back. read more

A wonderful little spot with outside plants and a greenhouse as well. They also sell produce and marmalade .... So good! Prices are very reasonable and staff is friendly. A great stop whether your local or just visiting from out of state. read more

Purchased honey bell oranges thinking they would be fresh from Florida. Instead we got a shipment of oranges from California. Underneath the description it says "Fresh From Florida" but I missed the fine print under the description saying "Shipping fruit grown in Florida and other states" . The oranges tasted ok but not like the honeybells we usually buy in person from Florida. Might try Pell's when we go down to Florida this month but won't be purchasing online again. read more

They are a long time area nursery and farmers market. They have some of the best orange juice you will ever get in a lifetime. Fruits, veggies, lots of produce, local honey and really friendly, down to earth people that work here. Also, prices are fair. read more

I spent $2500 landscaping my last home & now I've used them again @ my new home & I've spent in excess of $1200 on trees. But there's always a problem w/ the cost giving u the posted discounts on 10 of the same items! They were arguing w/ me yelling @ me, treating a customer disrespectfully that pays their bills. that is no way 2 treat the public, patrons customers! It disgusted me, the same manager gave me a hard time about the price be4 & I spoke to somebody else & she said yes u can use the 10 item discount. So I went today 2 get 4 more trees, I know the price because I have bought 10 to 12 @7 gallons and 5 @15 gallons. The price clearly shows & again I have bought from them several times & u get 2 choose which SIZE plants u want u take the bigger ones the nicer ones the fuller ones & they're ALL the same price just like the sign says 7 gallons; $39.95, 15 gallon is $99.95 & 30 gallons is $295.95. Well when I was loading the trees in2 the back of the cart I just wanted 2 make condirm the price because I saw 1 upfront near the office in a 7 gallon planter & they were a few 15 gallons I said do u have more of the 7 gallons, she said yeah let's go up top to the hill. So when I was loading them w/ the lady I said just make sure they're $39.95?? she said I'm not sure. I said well this one has a tag of $55. I had asked this lady @ the same time I Purchased 7 of these before so I'd like to get my 10 item discount & she says OK I'll ask about that. I said I have the receipts @home so either I can buy these now & come back & get refunded the difference right come back w/ the receipts & she says I'll check. She the manager and Pell Junior both said it's a different crop & they're $55 I said the sign says $39.95. Pell Jr said I'll give them 2 u as long as u understand that they're $55, I said no they're not! Then before loading them I asked about the 10 item discount & she said NO, ur not getting any discounts. I LEFT! I'll be reporting them and suing for false advertising! Local grown fruit and vegetables, this place is a dream and I am so blessed to have it a very short drive away. The orange juice is fresh from November through July, nothing compares to having a fresh glass from this place. They also offer samples of the oranges in season for free. I recently discovered their apples and won't purchase anywhere else. This place is s real gem read more

My family has been enjoying the amazing Pell orange juice as long as I can remember. It's so sweet and delicious. My grandparents began the tradition many years ago. They would do their biweekly Daytona Farmers Market routine visit and buy juice 2 to 8 half gallons at a time to save and share between houses and condos. You could always count on finding at least two bottles in their freezer at all times. It takes me back to so many wonderful annual family vacations in Daytona Beach every summer as the generations of kids have grown up. read more

If you want the best citrus at a fair price, Pells is the place to go. I had filled a bag of oranges and a member of the staff (Joyce?), dumped them back in the bin. Apparently I am not the best picker of oranges. She then filled the bag again selecting the best, freshest oranges. Now how do you beat that? Great place, great people. read more

First off Pell's is a nice looking place and I thought I had found a gold mine to purchase my plants and trees. Boy was I wrong. I purchased a Loquat trees that was full of fruit, other Plum trees, a Lemon tree and some fertilizer. This was on Apr 4, 2014. The Loquat tree and the other Plum trees were delivered on Apr 9, 2014 to be planted. When I went outside to see the trees it was to my surprise that there was only 4 fruits left on the Loquat tree. So from at least a 75 - 100 fruits to 4. Wow what a disappointment. When I asked about the fruit I was told that birds and/or raccoon's got them. This was told to me by three people. (One of the delivery guys, Joyce and Brad.) When the two guys that was here planting the trees were talking and they did not know that I could hear them, one said to the other that the ladies picked the fruit. This is what I tend to believe. So long story short. Take pictures and get them to write a guarantee that the plants/trees will be delivered in that condition. As for me, I will NEVER return to Pell's to purchase anything else, unless they return all the fruit that I had purchased with the tree. Sorry just does not cut it for me in this case. read more
