I only went here from November to June, but i'd say it's a mostly good school. Librarian was kind,…read moreshe would read us books. Nice and big library and playground/field too. Plus teachers were kind and respectful. Math/science teacher was funny and would never hesitate to help me with tests and work, language arts/history teacher challenged us and was funny. Good education. Kids were mostly great too, didn't get bullied once. I guess the only bad things I could say about this school was that at certain times the staff would be a little rude, and we would have to run the mile every Wednesday. Nurse wouldn't let me go home when I went to the nurse because of my bad knee and I could barely walk. Bathrooms were a bit dirty and at times there was no soap... but that was the kindergarten bathroom, haha. Other than that, can't think of anything else that would upset me. Oh yeah, and we got 30 extra minutes of playtime before school ended. Never got too much or too less work. Promotion was fun and organized too. They gave us a little care package for middle school. Good school.

Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Elementary School (Oceanside, CA) is an awesome wholesome place to…read moresend a child to learn not only reading/writing, mathematics, history, religion, ect, but your child can also learn about God in an open nurturing environment. I am a grandfather of 10 with two more grandkids on the way. Four of my grandkids are currently enrolled at Saint Mary's ranging from pre-school age all the way up to 6th grade and they all love it there. There are many multi generation families who just keep returning to this family oriented elementary school. My wife and I enrolled our three children and my young sister-in-law into St Mary's from 1990-2000. Saint Mary's education led them straight into the University of San Diego High School; now know as Cathedral Catholic High School. Whether your child has plans for a Catholic High School or not, Saint Mary's Star of the Sea Elementary School is a place where they can grow into a healthy well rounded child without the pressures of any outside political stuff. Here they are only taught what a child should learn in school, how to read, write, do mathematics correctly, "real" US History, ect. Oh yeah, lets not forget about God. Religion is taught in every grade level and the teachers are all very nurturing and caring. So, as a father and grandfather I can only highly recommend Saint Mary's Star of the Sea in Oceanside, CA for any child who truly wants to belong to a community and have fun learning. Grandpa

Very poorly run school. Administrator is incompetent and gossips about students and families. Very…read moredisappointing Catholic school. The 3rd - 5th grades teach nothing, contain no rigor, have no Catholic teaching, lack classroom management, and the teachers are not credentialed (as indicated). The curriculum is a bunch of supplemental material & the administrator follows common core instead of classical curriculum, which most Catholic schools adhere to in order to set them apart from public school. The middle school math teacher is excellent. The language arts teacher is awful. This school lacks true Catholic doctrine and allows non-Catholic students to take the host. A true disappointment to the San Diego dioceses of schools.

Stay far away from this school!!! I received appalling, disrespectful treatment from the moment I…read moreenrolled my son. Everyone from the receptionist Mrs. Magaña to the principal Mrs. Taitano acts like they're above you and won't give you -- a paying customer -- the time of day. The receptionist was bilingual and since I also was fluent in Spanish, I chose to speak to her in Spanish. She promptly race-shamed me to insist I only speak in English. I'm an American citizen and I didn't appreciate the rude and racist treatment. However, I tolerated the treatment for the sake of my son. Next, my son missed a few assignments and I hired a tutor to help him get caught up. I asked the teacher, Linda Hayek, for his missed assignments via email and she never responded to me. We later asked again for the assignments, involving the principal and she nastily retorted that I was "making up stories" and that I had not asked for the assignments and not received them. I have an electronic paper trail to prove I did ask the teacher for them. My husband was upset at how they were treating me so he responded to the principal in an assertive but respectful tone and we received the most unprofessional reply from the principal. Rather than supporting our son and helping us create a plan to help him succeed, they kicked him out of the school. At some point during this exchange, they said we could leave and receive a full refund, but after they kicked us out they only refunded us our security deposit and said they would give us the rest "later" (yeah, right...). I insisted they keep their word which was also expressed in written form. These people do not care about children's education. They only care about money and a hypocritical form of piety that was absolutely disgraceful. I am a catholic, but I am ashamed to have served at, donated to, and enrolled my son in a school with such ungodly leadership. This was not a one off case either. My friends enrolled her kids here and also received the same rude stuck up attitudes and lack of support. Stay FAR AWAY!

My family and I are so pleased at his development and his love and affection for his classmates, teachers and staff. Everyone at the school is so inviting and takes an honest, pure interest in each child and family. We have felt welcomed since the day we took an initial tour to now several months later. We have enjoyed the school and church activities immensely. We hope to be able to keep him enrolled as long as possible. I highly recommend St. Peter's The Apostle Catholic School.
