The decor is so interesting and tasteful, perfect for the area. The kitchen was equipped with full size refrigerator, microwave, toaster, stove/oven and all the other items you could need. We had two children with us, so it was great to have a fully stocked kitchen. Bonus - they have a winery on the property, Rocky Point Winery. It was so fun and convenient to be able to go downstairs and order a glass of wine (beer/mixed drink), enjoy a tasty snack and sit at the lovely patio and garden areas. It has a nice selection of gifts to purchase at the winery as well. As I mentioned, the owner and staff were so accommodating and responsive. We didn't see many people of various ethnicities and races other than white. Enjoyed walking on docks, visiting shops, shuffle board, Hawaiian ices, lunch at The Hotel, and walking all around. The experience is one that I've come to cherish. However, there are several drawbacks I would 100% recommend renting a cottage instead of staying at Hotel Lakeside (which is the reason for such the mediocre review). The rooms, while quaint, were very dirty in the corners and I wouldn't recommend looking under the bed unless you're a dust bunny aficionado. We were told that we were going to get a kitchenette which we did not receive (and apparently there isn't one in the entire hotel). My room was nice enough (besides for the dust), but my grandparents' room's air conditioning was not working and the room had a musty odor. Thankfully they were able to get the bridal suite on the second floor but even then, the bathroom was so small we were worried they would fall and hurt themselves. In terms of food, you don't really have many options. Besides for the hotel's restaurant, there are some coffee shops that aren't open for dinner, sloopy's and the New Mexican restaurant. The hotel's food is delicious but because there are only a few items on the menu, they can get old rather quickly. Sloopy's is nice for a few meals but eating that much unhealthy food will not make your stomach very happy. This is the other reason I recommend getting a cottage. Just so you could make your own home cooked meals instead of relying on eating out. Lastly, the porch. This is the most redeeming quality to the hotel. Looking out over the lake in the covered porch with everyone quietly reading or on their phones is incredibly peaceful and rejuvenating. In the end, I would recommend coming to Lakeside 100%. However, stay at the hotel at your own risk and definitely not for more than four days.

We walked over to the water and found lots of fossils embedded in the limestone which was so fun. Did have a nasty neighbor, Mr. Dorko, (I identified him through social media and property tax info) come over and yell at us about property lines while my daughter was playing in the water. He also used a bright spotlight to shine on my adult daughter while she was sitting by the water around dusk on another evening. Other than the a**hole neighbor, very highly recommended! This was NOT the case. Within a few hours of getting here we realized the mini fridge was not working. After multiple calls and a visit to the front desk, I was compensated with park food vouchers for my family that I am VERY grateful for!! BUT it doesn't change the fact that I'm responsible for wasting a ton of food in an economy where no one should waste anything. On top of the refrigerator issue, the outside area is just bad. I didn't bring folding chairs because we were limited on space but now I wish we did. The picnic table needs painted or replaced desperately, the handrail to the cabin looks like an accident waiting for a place to happen and the mold growing on the window is frightening. I think I paid $1700 for two nights and 6 one day tickets, I'm just not seeing the value. And it's a bit of a hike to the park from here, I walked 25,900 steps yesterday!! Unless you have a cargo van with everything you may need including patio furniture; I'd just stay at Hotel Breakers or that nice Holiday Inn up the street.

The bed was really our major complaint, but it was a huge deal for us. A good night's sleep is important and I didn't get it. We were already there by that point, but our experience was very good, thankfully. Most of the complaints seem to be about noise, and I can see that during the season. We went at the end of September, off season, so much less busy I'm sure, and cheaper. There were some negatives so I'll get those out of the way first. We did have a little "neighbor noise" from the hallway and the room next door, but no more than any hotel. Rarely saw other guests except at breakfast and even then only a few. Which is another minor complaint: the breakfast was small even by hotel breakfast standards. Coffee, juice, pastries, and cereal. Yogurt. A pancake maker that beeped randomly. And that's it. Just enough to get you on the road. Other little stuff: weak wifi on the third floor (strong in the lobby.) Maybe they need repeaters. Broadcast TV only. Not that we needed it much, but being able to watch cartoons or something in the evening with a kid would be handy. If not cable, at least apps you can sign into if you have them. No fridge or microwave or clock, at least in our room. But those are really all minor niggles, and we still had a good time. The view was great. We had a two-queen Jacuzzi room, and there's a little balcony. The Jacuzzi was a blast for Kid K. She also loved the little beach (not really good for swimming with muck and goose poop, but nice to stand on.) And she liked the sand at the volleyball court, and the playground and rocks. In season they have three pools and a splashpad which would be loads of fun. Also a game room in the basement with air hockey, video games, board games to borrow. And a laundry and meeting room down there, and the ice machine. Snack and pop machines on each floor. A nice lobby with TV. The breakfast rooms were nice: bright and airy, many cozy chairs and tables. In the room comfy beds (recently updated?) A Keurig. A small bathroom with a separate vanity in the dressing area. There are cabins which would be good for big families. A marina which was in regular use. Tennis courts. So, all in all, loads to do right there. Only one restaurant nearby; most are on the other side of the peninsula, about 10 minutes away and a pretty drive. Lots of other stuff in the area of course. We had a great time, and the price was reasonable. Again, off season. Staff were great, at the desk, cleaning, breakfast. Easy to find, plenty of parking. We'd come back.

Receptionist were both very friendly and even offered us waters. They do have hot coffee and hot water for tea/hot chocolate available 24/7 in the lobby. They also have a 24/7 store at the desk with sooo many snacks and drink options! They have multiple TVs, sittting areas and shuffle board/foosball in the lobby, which we saw lots of people enjoying. Our room was spacious. Plenty of room for storage. It smelled fresh and clean. The shower was perfect size, just wish the water was a bit warmer. My boyfriend has been raving about the hand soap since the second he tried it (it's a great scent!). They have hand soap, body lotion, conditioner, shampo, body wash all hanging on the wall for your convenience. Our king bed was very comfy and the AC worked perfectly in our room. The breakfast was probably the best hotel breakfast I have ever eaten. So many options! I opt for the cheese egg omelets, sausage patties, and pancakes. I couldn't get the Wifi to work in our room, the signal was too weak. But it is available in the lobby and maybe it's better in other rooms.
