Save yourself a painful experience. Bought 2 cars from them and both needed transmission replacement.

They buy beaters from the auto auction off the freeway and will tell you they "have their mechanic" that looks them over (probably a cousin or something). Took it down to the dealership and it had TONS of problems, totally undisclosed and some appeared hidden. I brought it back and they promised to "work with me to get me what I wanted". I didn't believe them so I got a signed letter of intend from the manager. They just kept getting cars in that looked like they had been through Monster Jam and priced double what they're worth. Even though I had a signed paper stating they would buy the car back if they couldn't find something for me I got screwed and had to sell it to avoid it breaking down and costing more. This sham for a dealership is the epitome of used car scammers. Vehicle I purchased- 2011 GMC Acadia SLT2- had a nonworking dvd system and, as a mom of four who does frequent road trips, this was a mandatory item in my vehicle purchase. They assured me it would be repaired by them and it was added to the bill of sale to be repaired within 30 days. It has now been over sixty and (in a nutshell) the following has occurred: 1. Check engine light came on within 5 mins of driving car off the lot (documented by photo). Knew I had been scammed but called just to see what they'd say...was told to bring the car back so they could "reset" the light. 2. Brakes started badly grinding within 1st month- ended up needing new rotors and pads- fine- maintenance- but while shelling out $800 on a vehicle I had JUST purchased my mechanic checked out the check engine light. That mechanic told me the error message was revealing a problem too big for them to even want to mess with it and they didn't do any work with warranty companies. 3. Joey at Penland acted all sympathetic and told me where I should take it to confirm and that if it was a big issue "they'd make it right." Took it where he recommended I go only because I had been to the suggested mechanic before and felt he was a good guy. So per diagnostics of second mechanic, as of right now- without taking the engine apart yet- the estimate to repair the problem (which can make the vehicle just stall out) is upwards of $3k. Mechanic there also showed me an invoice for someone else's "just purchased" vehicle from Penland- that individual was having to replace an engine. 3. In the midst of all of this, also left vehicle with Penland on two different occasions for multiple days so they could supposedly repair the dvd player. 1st time I was in a hurry to get to work and didn't have a dvd on me to check if fixed. It was not. Brought it back to them and they kept for almost a week. Had to go in there several times to find out why not ready. Finally told them I'd be there in the AM (when they'd assured me it would be ready by) to pu the vehicle. Showed up about 11AM- vehicle still hadn't been "brought back from GMC dealership." Sat around dealership waiting for about an hour. Finally vehicle showed up. Told the manager Joey I had a dvd this time and wanted to confirm the repair. Sure enough couldn't even get a dvd to go in the system. After having me wait around for another hour and getting their "dvd guy" to look at it they basically just said they had no clue. Told Joey between my anger over how they had obviously just reset the check engine light and now the waste of time/non repair of the dvd system I just wanted my money back so I could go somewhere else. He told me they don't treat customers like that (same convo as item #3 above just later in day after finding out dvd player still wasn't working) and he would have his guys find me a new Acadia at the auction they were going to the next day. Told me he'd be in touch. After no word for two days I messaged him- his response was that he was "checking on it." An hour later I still hadn't heard further...tried again. This time the response was that they were back to looking for another dvd system. That was on December 4th. It's the 12th- 61 days post purchase and all I have is a broken dvd system in a vehicle that needs thousands of dollars worth of work. 4. Warranty they sold me is for a company GWC that is currently unwilling to authorize any repairs until comprehensive diagnostic is confirmed by them- which according to mechanic means he will have to drop the engine out of the car and leave sitting until they come see what he already told them is the problem. At which point we just have to hope that they authorize work or I get stuck with a non working vehicle sitting with engine out. As a single mom of four and right before the holiday season...disappointed in fact that dealerships like this one are permitted to operate. I have filed a complaint with the BBB and will be pursuing further action but certainly want to make sure others are warned. read more

DO NOT GO HERE!!! We were sold a total piece of junk that we were told was thoroughly inspected. My husband and I bought a 2015 Chrysler town and country with 51k miles on it for $15,500. Joey informed us that the van was in good condition and had gone through thorough inspections by their mechanics. My husband was not 5 miles down the road after purchasing this van before the engine light comes on! He attempted to go back to the dealership but they were closed. We took the van to the local chrysler dealership to find out they sold us a van with a broken valve body (WHICH IS A MAJOR AND EXPENSIVE PROBLEM WITH THE TRANSMISSION) We told Joey at Penland automotive about the problem which had been diagnosed by mechanics at a chrysler dealership. He was not concerned with our problem and told us "it's probably covered under Chrysler's warranty." The manager of this dealership did not reach out to us after multiple requests to speak with him, his name is Tim Yarger according to an employee we spoke with. The price we purchased this van for was a fair price for this van in good condition but the true condition of this van was not disclosed to us. Our van is still at the mechanics awaiting repairs which is expected to take two weeks and it's unknown if this will or will not be under any warranty. We have been given the run around for the past two days from this dealership and the manager. Avoid this place at all cost!!!!!!!! Do your research on this place and read reviews!!!! I wish we had!!! Let's just say we are not the first people who have been sold a car with major undisclosed mechanical issues. We have asked for some reimbursement due to the condition of the van and have been brushed off. A good dealership would be horrified they sold something in this shape! If this dealership wants to show they are a quality and trustworthy dealership then I will update this review, otherwise STAY FAR AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! read more

This Company don't even get a rating. they will tell you anything to get u to sign a new lease with them. they lied about doing repairs. when they get caught up in there lies they will shift blame on one another. If you sign lease before making sure repairs are done etc. you have messed up. if you see Penland Run the other way... Honestly they are a scam read more
