All they did was show me before and after X-rays of my neck for the first 2 appointments. Wait times were very long and they were never on time. On my 3rd or 4th appointment I was in finally walking on my own and out of my wheelchair. I drove myself to an early appointment one morning and not being a morning person I was very tired. I was taken back a hallway with a locking door and placed in an exam room and left there waiting for 45 minutes on one of their worthless doctors. I ended up falling asleep and was rudely awakened by a histaricle nurse who began accusing me of being under the influence of controlled substances. I became very annoyed and decided that I didn't need these assholes in my life. All they were doing was showing me the same X-rays at every appointment. These appointments were only set up to charge my insurance company and in no way did I benefit from them. So after the histaricle nurse yelled at me I decided that I was leaving with out seeing the doctor. When I attempted to leave the nurse refused to unlock the door at the end of the hallway and they kept me there against my will for 15 or 20 minutes saying that they were going to call the police. I did absolutely nothing wrong and other than choose to go there which was a huge mistake. Finally they unlocked the door to allow another patient to leave and I got out. The histaricle nurse followed me out into the parking lot yelling at me about how she's calling the police. I said go ahead and call the police. Why don't you tell the cops how you kept me locked in a hallway against my will for 20 minutes. What a bunch of worthless assholes they are especially my surgeon MR. Heyjo Park. I will never go back to any Hershey med facilities ever again. I felt like I was in some kind of prison or something. Un Fucking believable!

Please bear with me. I'm not a holy roller in your face religious zealot. But what I witnessed this…read moreweekend happened by the grace of God. The staff at Hershey medical system were blessed with the skills to save my mom. My mother had a major stroke on Saturday. She had a complete blockage in the area controlling speech and movement on her right side. She arrived at Hershey able to understand but unable to communicate. She couldn't lift her arms. She literally was scared to death. Likewise, my dad, who witnessed everything, was panicking. When we got the call, we threw some stuff in a suitcase and drove all night covering over 800 miles to get there as soon as we could. When we arrived, we went directly to the hospital. Of course I had updates from my family, but I still wasn't sure what I would see when I walked into her room in the NICU. The moment I stepped over that threshold, I knew I still had my mom. Not mom with a new normal, but MY mom. How did I know? She was complaining about something. Yep, that's my mom, bless her heart. (And I mean that in a true southern way!) I've already established my belief in divine intervention, but it was the excellent staff at Hershey that actually performed the miracle. The moment mom crossed the ER threshold, she was hit by a whirlwind of activity. Time is critical for a stroke patient. Within the first 1/2 hour, they confirmed the stroke and had a specialist paged. Less than two hours from getting wheeled in into the ER by the EMTs, she was in recovery from surgery. The surgery was delicate (as are all brain surgeries, of course). This particular surgery takes advanced skills - her neurologist said that even they revere these surgeons. The doctor said that they got the entire clot but didn't know her prognosis. He did say that recovery was going to be slow. The wonderful care didn't stop in the ER and OR. The nurses and support staff were second to none. Not only was mom well cared for, we were also recipients of the helpfulness and kindness of the staff. We were kept abreast of every test and procedure. They made sure that the doctor came by while we were there - keeping us tightly in the loop. We had pertinent phone numbers so we could always speak with her nurse. They helped us set up her portal (clear cookies before enrolling). Mom was a nurse so she has exceptionally high standards for nursing care. Even she was impressed. There were a couple of hiccups. The food was awful. I wouldn't have eaten it either. They did not do a very good job at helping her with hygiene. She said she had a bed bath but whatever they did, sure didn't do what was intended. In 5 days, she had only received 1 bath. Please be aware that the medical center is HUGE and you will most likely have quite a trek to the room. Seriously, after the first day, I traded my cute sandals for my tennis shoes. There are a couple of places inside to eat but we didn't try them. A very busy Starbucks is in the lobby. Us fellow Penn Staters feel especially at home with the replica of our beloved Nittany Lion sculpture in the rotunda. A life size replica of our mascot sits on an outside bench just begging for a photo shoot. If I ever need urgent medical care while in town visiting, there will be absolutely no question on where I'll go. Hershey Medical Center. It's undoubtedly one of the best. And, to the staff - thank you from the bottom of my heart for saving my mom. Bless you all.

It is well maintained, cleaned, and up kept. The ER is a little slow if you come in on a Saturday, but the staff (on all aspects/positions) are outgoing, knowledgeable, and wanting to educate you on what they are doing/have done and the options that you have. With that said, the care is exceptional. The nurse staff is beyond amazing! The care was contributions, present, and working to provided the best care available!! Going to the hospital is NEVER easy and not something anyone looks forward to, but I assure you that you are in good hands here!!

I have never had a doctor who expressed so much compassion and understanding about the issues I faced through this long journey of recovery. He has always been thorough. always took time to listen and then always addressed the problems. His encouragement and empathy has gotten me through this rollercoaster ride of healing. His staff were very professional, helpful and very kind. Sadly today was my last appointment with him as we are moving out of state. I am certain that I will not find a new neurologist that will begin to "fill his shoes"!!!!!!!!!!! There are not enough words to express my gratitude. Without his expertise I may not have been able to write this.

I have a love/hate thing going on with this place. Sometimes I leave feeling like I understand the…read moreinformation that was conveyed to me and am comfortable in my condition, other times I've left confused and trying to get my questions answered only led to additional frustration and misunderstanding. One thing I will say is that I do like the doctor. He is well respected and educated in his field, and I think he's a nice guy. HOWEVER sometimes I get the feeling that he's confusing me with another patient. One visit I'm left believing I'm ok and have nothing to be concerned about, then come back for a follow up and leave under the impression that I have some serious condition. In the many years I've been a patient at this practice I still only have a label of being "suspect" of a condition and not actually having it. While I do support the doctors decision to not officially diagnosis me until he is absolutely sure as this condition is elusive as far as a clear cut diagnosis, it does leave me stressed. Other medical professionals who know my "label" don't agree with this and feel I either have this condition or I don't, which again causes me a lot of undue stress. I will say that this is the kind of place doesn't like to give results for anything over the phone. Expect to get a test done then wait up to three months for your appointment for results. This is very typical, however for me and my condition, one result could lead to another test so I've been very proactive in calling and trying to get results. They do not like to do this with good reason. What was relayed to me by a nurse was the complete opposite of what the result actually was when I did get in to see the doctor and when I brought it to their attention there wasn't any real ownership of their fault and I was made to feel like I made the mistake. For a new patient going in I would advise you to make sure you ask specifically to schedule with the doctor. Many of times I went in thinking I was seeing the doctor himself only to have been scheduled with the nurse practitioner. In my case my specialist co pay is expensive, and for me to pay it then I want to see any actual doctor. The nurse practitioner I felt had a odd personality and didn't have proper reaction. That's the only way I can explain how I felt visiting with her. Maybe it's just that our personalities clash. I don't know but I don't want to see her again, ever.
