We were eating and found hair and me and my mom are brown headed and it was blonde. Service was ok but they wore no bonnets.

We went there last night for the first time. we shared the footlong Philly-style cheese steak with mushrooms fries and a soda. The service was prompt quick and the store was clean in appearance. Our order was served quickly. The size and content of the sandwich were great. The bread was fresh and toasted which was a bonus. On the whole the entire sandwich was very good. On the other hand,the french fries...the oil needed changing. The good overweighed the bad and they will be on our list of good places to go. read more

Alright, so I know this is a chain store, but they deserve credit for the employees' attitudes. I went there last night and the staff were very friendly and very helpful. They acknowledged me when I walked in and were anticipating my order because I ordered ahead. Finding good help can be hard these days, but the two gentlemen who were working behind the counter were top tier. I will be returning to this store just based on the employees' demeanor alone. I touched 5 tables with booths, all were so sticky with gunk that my fingers were tacky. Found one clean table( not sticky and dirty) in the place. Fries were good. I took my sandwich home. Took one bite and it tasted like detergent used to clean the griddle. Husband said counter between order and paying was also grimey and sticky. Never eating there again. Ketchup was splattered on the wall next to our table. Really a filthy place. I got ketchup so had to get a few little papee cups. The container for those paper cups was sticky. I ordered a turkey avocado salad with hot meat and fries. They forgot the tomatoes and then served the meat cold. I brought it to the cook and he said he ran it through the toaster?! The meat is COLD. I then brought it to the manager and she said she'd resolve it. The fries were cold and burnt too. My son's cheesesteak sandwich was good, according to him. Hot meat! This place has good food normally. On top of the issues above, the tables were dirty and the ketchup dispenser was empty. Sheesh. Zero effort with the manager (or assistant manager?) right up front. This location is easily the slowest sandwich stop in Springfield. they are so extremely organized and you can end up waiting for 30+ minutes for them if you order in person. meanwhile they handle online orders immediately, leading to chaotic and random wait times. the staff seems barely functioning at this rate. Ordered medium fries and a large chicken parmesan sandwich. $16 even without a drink. Got my food and left. The fries had no salt. The sandwich had ZERO flavor. Every several bites I may have gotten a hint of marinara sauce. It was flavorless as cardboard. I ate half the fries and half the sandwich. I came in and ordered the chicken teriyaki sandwich, fries, and fresh squeezed lemonade. I have to say I absolutely love this Penn Station location. I have been to many other locations but this one is by far the best. The staff are extremely friendly and you can tell they love working here. The sandwich was so scrumptious and arrived warm and toasty with the perfect mix between cheese, chicken, and spices. The lemonade is fresh squeezed onsite along with their hand cut fries. They use an old fashion potato cutting machine fo make the french fries. I want to like this place, but it just hasn't happened for me he three times I've been in. The sandwiches are usually good, but I have had one to go and it seemed like they didn't even open it after they cut the bread. It was a huge mess with all the sandwich insides were mostly outside of the bread.... For the most part, the staff is friendly though. I have not waited less than 15 minutes for my sandwich (once it was 25 mins). It was good, but takes too long! Their fries are nothing to rave about, but decent. Over priced in my opinion. Things have to change to survive here! Must figure out how to be quicker especially when freaky fast and delicious is right down the street! read more

My date and I went in because we got a gift card for Christmas. Being a first timer, we had no idea what to expect. We were advised to get our sandwich toasted. After a short wait for a made to order delight, we got our order and headed home. I opened the bag and saw a few fry stragglers on top of the sandwich. Being a french fry lover, I had to grab them up and take a taste. What a delightful surprise to taste an old fashioned hand cut fry. They were unpeeled and fried to perfection. Could the italian sub measure up? It certainly did! The multigrain bread would have been good just by itself but filled with the italian sausage and fresh veggies, it was hard to put down even with those tasty fries calling my name. So I love Penn station!! But Sunday night I was headed home and decided I would stop in Springfield for food! We got there at 7p they close at 9p on Sundays. The 2 girls were very Rudy especially Samantha! She had an attitude because my mom said we would be dining in. She aggressively served our food! And when other customers walked in she made a comment "so much for getting the floors swept"! The sandwiches were made sloppy. I will never go to this location again! Great sandwiches, but orders take a long time to come up so leave time (whether they're busy or not). Only huge complaint is that the employees don't wear gloves when they cook. You can observe the employees handle money, wipe their noses and brush their hands on their clothes and go right back to touching your food. Manager was very understanding when we complained about this as well as a few other things, but we've been back twice since (because the sandwiches are so good) and employees started getting our order right, but continued to avoid wearing gloves. PLEASE WEAR GLOVES!!! As someone who has a lot of food allergies, 10/10 would not recommend eating here if you're allergic to anything they serve. My wife stopped in tonight to grab dinner for us and she waited OVER 45 MINUTES for 2 sandwiches and an order of fries. Not only did she have to wait an incredibly unacceptable amount of time but, she also specifically asked for no cheese on her sandwich because she cannot have dairy. When she finally got home, she opened her sandwich and found it was COVERED in cheese. The order ticket specifically shows no cheese yet, the sandwich was completely covered. I called the store to report the issue and was told to bring my receipt back in for them to remake our sandwiches; however, my wife did not get a receipt and we live 15 minutes away and are not driving back for that. When we asked for another option for them to make it right she said "I'll have to check with my manager." On top of all of that, the employees were completely disorganized and the one actually cooking the sandwiches was not even wearing gloves!! Needless to say, I don't think we will be back. Ridiculous. LOUDEST place I've ever had lunch. Staff yells names of customers every time a sub is ready, they also yell orders to each other, thus every time someone places an order the staff screams the order to the sandwich maker, then every time a sandwich is ready the sandwich maker yells the customer name. Very obnoxious. Also the place is freezing cold. My husband who is never cold asked if they could maybe turn the AC down a bit and the guy behind the counter said, "why don't you come back here and cook it's hot". Penn station subs offers a $1 buck-off coupon online. But when I went in, they refused to honor the coupon and instead offered me about 60 cents off a sub. The staff there claimed that other people had also tried the day before but were also unable to have their coupon honored. If you're going to offer a discount to customers, give it to them! We were driving home from Chicago and were lucky enough to come across this sub shop when we stopped for gas. They grill the meat for the subs and then put it on the sub roll and toast it open faced, yes, it is as good as it sounds! I had the Reuben and hubby had an Italian combo. The subs come in three sizes and are very generous in size. The small was more than enough for me and hubby got the medium. First timer. Pricey. Small portions for fries. Maybe it was the sandwhich I ordered but the chicken salad sub was perhaps the worst I have ever had. When the chicken salad comes out of a plastic container and has a watery constancy I wonder why it is on the menu. The chicken salad is probably from Sysco or some other food service company. I have been to about 6 different Penn Stations in different towns and have never been disappointed. The food and the experience are always top notch. I drive by this place going to work everyday and figured it was time to give it a try. I am new in Springfield and have been trying all the sub shops. So far have done a local one on Montvale, don't remember name, Head West Subs, and Fire House Subs, all new to me. I like Quiznos, but I think Penn Station is the best of all. I had the grilled veggie sub and it was awesome. I also sampled the artichoke and it was very tasty too. The grilled veggie at 6" was a lot of sandwich that was totally loaded with grilled onions, cheese, and the usual other stuff, all really greasy, messy, and delicious. I usually avoid fries but tried these since they actually buy potatoes, cut them up, and fry them right there. They were great too. I plan to stop by on a regular basis. To the poster who said the place is noisy, that is partly at least an East Coast thing where staff talks to both each other and the customers. It did not bother me, and gave the place a vibe kind of the the old 47th St. Photo in NYC where when you walked in they yelled at you, insulted you, and you got a great deal along with some authentic Manhattan culture. read more
