This place is great! Between the atmosphere, food, and staff I can easily recommend Dave's Hot Chicken!

I was over charged on the tip. I hit 10% but when added to my $30.00 bill they charged over $5.00. I did not catch it until I left. Service was great! I was working in Peoria, IL this week and noticed that Dave's Hot Chicken had recently opened a location in Springfield, IL. On my way back home to St. Louis, I decided to stop by and pick some up for my wife and me--we both love the place. I'm currently on a diet until June, but I couldn't resist ordering mine to freeze for later (yes, I know ). Since we don't have a Dave's nearby, I have to take advantage when I can! I ordered ahead through the app, knowing it would likely be busy with the location just opening a couple of weeks ago. When I arrived, I was immediately greeted with a warm, "Welcome to Dave's." I headed to the counter, and my food was ready right on time. This location was a bit larger than others I've visited, which was a pleasant surprise. There was plenty of waiting area and indoor seating with tables and chairs As always, the food was absolutely amazing. I'll be back in Peoria again for work in a couple of weeks, and you can bet I'll be stopping by on my way home again. read more

We finally made it to Dave's Hot Chicken for the first time and let me tell you, we were not disappointed! We actually took my son for his birthday and he brought along his girlfriend so we all tried out the chicken for the first time together! I got mild, she got the "hot chicken" and the birthday boy got "medium"! He wanted to see how hot hers was compared to his and started sweating, it was too funny! You can see in the picture that his hands are kind of shaking because the chicken was so hot it was a great memory! Let's talk about this restaurant, I absolutely love the graffiti on the walls and it's throughout the entire restaurant! The seating is comfortable, it's absolutely beautiful, I love the pops of color, and it's just a really happy place to be in. We've literally never had Dave's Hot chicken before until this day. I got the chicken sandwich and the sauce was fantastic! The chicken was so fresh, hot, and ready! I love the seasoning on the fries and washed it down with the Oreo milkshake. Such a great first experience! I would say I can't wait to come back and visit again but looks like they're building one closer to our house so we're pretty stoked about that! Reply to business owner's response: Brett, I appreciate you responding, but I got the same response from a review I put on Google, and when I went to the website you referenced, I just got a fairly generic reply. Understand, I'm not asking for my meal to be comped or any coupons or anything like that. What I would really like to know is, did I get chicken that was prepared incorrectly, or is this how Dave's Hot Chicken is supposed to be prepared? I'm a big fan of Hattie B's in Nashville, and I was really hoping to get some Nashville chicken here in Springfield, Illinois. If you tell me that what I was served had been prepared incorrectly, according to Dave's Hot Chicken recipe, then I will certainly give it another try. However, if this is just how you prepare your chicken, I think I'll just stick with buying Nashville style chicken in Nashville. I was under the impression that Dave's was Nashville-style. Nashville hot chicken, such as Hattie B's, finishes with hot (spicy) oil. The tender I had at Dave's had no oil and was covered in a dry rub that was off-putting and left a dry feeling in my mouth. Ordered takeout and the food was Really good! We had DAVE'S #3: 1 TENDER & 1 SLIDER W/ FRIES combo meal. I enjoy spicy food like hot buffalo wings, etc, but after reading reviews the hot sounded pretty hot with people sweating, eyes tearing up, etc. So I ordered the Medium spice level, which was perfect. It definitely had lots of spicy flavor without killing your taste buds. We also tried the Saucy Bites with Mikes Hot Honey and the sweet heat was very good. Also, these chicken strips are not your average sized fast food chicken strips. They were much thicker/larger than normal, juicy, and tender. I also typically expect carry out fried food to be a little soft/soggy or average at best by the time you get it home, but this was still very good with nice crunch even after a 15 min trip home. read more

Very loud from the amount of people inside, the music and the setup of the build. Four main choices to pick from. 7 levels of spice from no spice to inferno. I got hot and my nose is draining and I'm sweating bullets. The workers are very friendly and welcome everyone through the door. Very busy even at 4pm. I can't imagine dinner rush on Fridays. They offer fountain soda smoothies and shakes. They do offer a catering side as well for parties. One down fall is NO Mustard packets!!!! The chicken tenders are plum (way bigger than Caines) fully coated in spice. The fries are seasoned perfectly and crunchy crickle cuts style. Offer outside seating as well. It was okay. Chicken breading was hard and tasted bitter because over cooked. The fries were sweet due to seasoning. Cooked well but could not get past the flavor. Music was so loud you could barely hear the staff. Luckily it was nice out so we sat outside. read more
