Excellent food and service at The Burger Bar last night! Fridays are all you can eat fried walleye fish with sides. We come from St. Louis to enjoy this every few months; it's that good! I had a tasty Philadelphia steak wrap instead of the walleye this visit and it was tasty. The meat was cooked perfectly. My boyfriend had the walleye and one refill of it. The service here was fantastic, our waitress was very attentive and we didn't wait long at all for the food. The inside is pretty standard from what you'd expect a bar to have, but lots of seating. The burgers were decent, definitely would stick to a single as the patties are a good size vs a smash burger. They even have a vegan patty which is always a plus. The food was really good! Only downside was that our server completely forgot about us (group of 6) multiple times, so drinks went dry fairly quickly, and it took a good half hour from requesting the check to receiving it so we could pay and leave. read more

After trying to have dinner out at three other local restaurants in Chatham at 7ish on a September Friday night, we were shocked at how packed every place was. Mom and I figured the whole town would be at the high school football game! No such luck, so we drove into town (SPI) and went to the Burger Bar. Busy too, but not too busy. We found a seat and were greeted quickly. The bar had the Illinois football game on all the TVs which made me know I was eating out in my hometown. My first visit but mom had been here before and enjoyed it. They offer an extensive menu but with burger in the bars name, I went straight to the burger list. The description of the Cali Burger was just my style. Mom went with the sweet bourbon burger bc she loves Swiss and mushrooms. My burger came out as described minus being "smothered" in gouda. Because the slice of cheese was put on the bacon, the cheese did not taste like gouda. All I tasted was bacon. I also wish I would have noticed that it didn't come with mayo because it definitely needed a sauce. The actual patty needed S&P. The burgers are gigantic and lots of fries so we both took leftovers. The price is right for the amount of food IMO. I would happily return but customize my burger next time. How does this sound?!?!! Beef Patty seasoned with salt and lots of pepper. Sauced with ranch and mild buffalo. Then topped with two slices of American and Lettuce, tomato, and pickles!!!! read more

First visit, likely not the last - can't put my finger on it but for some reason I loved this place, just has a comfortable feel - went on Tuesday evening and although we didn't have to wait they were busy (by the way it's seat yourself) - service was quick and good - my wife had a Caesar salad which she indicated was very good - I had a grilled cheese with grilled onions and mushrooms along with broccoli cheese soup, both were outstanding. By the way they list 8 different grilled cheese sandwiches on the menu - also offer several burgers. read more

Burgers came out HOT from the kitchen. Eat part of your side first to let it cool so you don't burn your mouth. Otherwise delicious! I had onion tangles with my burger and husband had the sweet potato fries. Both were delicious. I had the nuclear burger with hot buffalo instead of the spicy mayo. Absolutely the best! Haven't had a 5 pepper burger that good in years. Husband had the black and blue burger. He wished it had more black (ie Cajun seasoning). But it was ok. He said he would get something different next time. And they had Pepsi which is always a win in my book! read more

Came in with a friend for dinner recently and had an excellent experience. Food We started with an app of their Southwest Rolls, which were really good. It was a wrap (like a egg roll wrapping) with seasoned chicken, corn, black beans, a little cheese, and came with a couple kinds of sauce for dipping. These were really good and worth the $8. We both got burgers. I got the Brunch Burger with bacon, an over easy egg, and served on a toasted English muffin. It was so good. The homemade chips that came with it were good too. My friend got the glutonous Mac n Cheese Burger which she said was really good. The service and prices were good and this is definitely a family spot, with its regulars, as the owner went to every table and chatted with his guests. read more

Disappointed with this visit. Orders burger medium and it was well done and dried out. First time I've ever had a bad meal there. To top it off they charged and extra $2.34 to substitute cole slaw for fries. Bathroom is disgusting. Get it fixed! Service however was friendly and prompt. read more

I'll try and keep this short and concise. When my family and I walked into the establishment we were pleasantly surprised by how busy they were and how the restaurant was setup. It appeared to be remodeled recently and had clean and colorful vibe. We ordered our food and it took a bit longer than it should have but nevertheless the food was good and well prepared. No issues here. Here is where it comes apart. I went to the restroom and noticed immediately that the back half of the restaurant including the kitchen and bathroom area was disgustingly not clean. I took a peak in the kitchen and saw and older gentlemen pick up a handful of bacon with his bare hands and put it on a burger in which he then added a piece of cheese with his bare hands to that same burger. The floors were filthy and the kitchen looked gross. The bathrooms looked like they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. After seeing the above I couldn't finish my meal as I was somewhat sick to my stomach. I won't be eating here again. read more

It took us awhile to get a seat during the lunch hour, but we are glad we stayed. The exterior was that of a typical sports bar with some lovely Burger Barn graphics painted on the wall. The fries were good. The soft drinks weren't the best, but the tea was good. The burgers well that is something to write about. Now, the bun was fresh. The toppings were great.....especially the onions. The single patty was large and the cheese was perfectly melted. It was probably the most flavorful burger I've ever had.....which if you've seen my other reviews that is saying something. We found out about this place from a local and we were glad we did. It has one numerous best burgers in Springfield and would likely sweep that award in other towns if present. My wife who is Uber picky and rarely finishes her meals ate every bit of her burger. I was really expecting a great burger today. What I got was overcooked and dry. I ordered the Philly Burger expecting sautés peppers; what is got was chopped up raw peppers. This is my favorite burger establishment in Springfield without a close second. I especially like the black n blue burger say medium well. I will go here when i want to take a full hour for lunch which is rare but I consider it a treat. I also like their chips and their onion strings. All of the servers I've had have been friendly and I've sat at the bar a couple of times for lunch as well and the bartender for lunch is always nice. read more

Love this place. Walking through the doors of the Burger Bar just about transports me to a beach side grill in Florida. Add an ice cold beer and boom, the teleportation is complete. I'm a huge fan of the onion tangle which reminds me of the fried onion straws from my favorite beachside restaurant on Clearwater Beach. Their creative burgers are super generous and are super filling. The cowboy burger was delicious each bite was reminscent of my favorite burger spot in Miami. This place is tucked away in a shopping mall and offers inside and outside seating. Patrick our server greeted us and asked us for our drink order. I ordered the Baloney sandwich with homemade potato chips and my guest had the all American Burger with homemade chips. Make sure to order the homemade potato chips. Burger Bar Review Dining at Springfield's Burger Bar was an enjoyable experience for my entire family. We went there for lunch on a Friday, and even though it was (almost) the weekend, there was a no wait. We were seated quickly and had ordered within minutes of our arrival. Even though it wasn't exceptionally busy, our food still took quite a while to come out. This gave us plenty of time to take in the decor. The Burger Bar is decorated with colorful paintings of various burger-related things, such as a shark eating a giant burger. There were also several awards displayed on the walls of the restaurant. I ordered the Chicken Bacon Ranch Wrap, which was remarkably good. It far surpassed anything I could make, although, let's be honest here, that doesn't take much. Nonetheless, it was one great chicken wrap. My dining companions ordered a variety of other items. 1) Tomato Basil Grilled Chicken Sandwich. While it was messy, the pesto sauce took the sandwich to a whole new level. 2) the Hamburger Horseshoe. I'd give it 7 out of 10 stars. This is high praise coming from someone who has had many horseshoes. 3) All-American Cheeseburger, one of the best burgers he'd ever eaten. It's safe to say that the Burger Bar is now one of his favorite restaurants. All in all, dining at the Burger Bar in Springfield, IL, was a great experience. I'd definitely recommend the restaurant to anyone who asks, and I'm sure my family would too. In the end, I give the Burger Bar 4.5 stars. read more

My go to bar if I need a burger. Their build your own burger option comes with every topping you could ever want. My go to is a double with gouda, bacon, pulled pork, onion and mayo. Then onion rings on the side of course. They have so many combinations to choose from you could get a new burger or chicken sandwich every day for months. Not to mention their other menu items that will leave you satisfied for sure! The staff is very friendly and helpful, and they have something for any age of guest. So come in, get a burger and a beer and enjoy a game on one of their multiple TVs, or order pickup on your way home from work. Went for lunch and had a good experience overall. Sit yourself, waitress was quick and responsive and the overall establishment is clean and entertaining. The walls have pictures of funny memes that are quite entertaining. On the food, I had the gyro burger with walls fries and a side of Honey mustard and sour cream. Even thro we were with our white cast mate they immediately told us they were close BUT ppl were still present and eating in the bar. Oh my, what a great place for food, cold beer and football. Stopped in on a Sunday while driving gome from St Louis. A huge menu of apps, salads, sandwiches and burgers. I had the black and bleu burger...has grilled mushrooms and a generous amount of blue cheese and the regular fries. VERY GOOD, very (temp) hot. Coupled w a couple cold draft beers...perfect! This is my first time here and I was not disappointed! They have a great menu and even a "make your own burger" section. I ordered the Mac and cheese burger and it was delicious! A nice big ham er with homemade white cheddar cheese macaroni served on a croissant bun. The margarita was very potent, no skimping there! This is my favorite burger joint in Springfield to date; have frequented Burger Bar around six times in the past year! I have tried nearly everything on the menu from the uniquely profiled burgers to wings and more. I have never had a bad experience and even if you stop by just for a drink at the bar you will enjoy yourself. There is a multitude of TV's with sports/news events lined up nicely at the bar, high top tables or regular seating if you prefer. They also have the classic midwestern daily specials listed on the neon sign as you first enter...cannot say enough great things about this place! read more

We've visited there occasionally over quite a few years. Great staff, burgers are usually good. Once in a while a little overcooked. Went the other day and saw the new menu with a lot of grilled cheese options. They need to stick to burgers. Barely grilled, avocado was not quite ripe. Plus, our food was cold.
