Penny's just did the alterations on a very delicate formal gown that I will be wearing for my daughter's wedding. The alterations were extensive -- lifting the dress at the shoulders, taking out and reinserting the sleeves, cutting the zipper so that the back neckline could be lowered, and shortening the dress and lining. They did a PHENOMENAL job for a very reasonable price. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!! First of all the ladies are very sweet and helpful. I came in on a Monday or Tuesday and she asked me when I needed it by I told her Saturday and she said it would be done by Thursday which was a plus. Me being careless I forgot to pick it up thursday and I was in NY on friday so i told myself i would pick it up on saturday. I realized they close at 4 on saturday and it was 4:30ish by the time I got home. I called hoping someone was working and the owner (I am assuming) picked up and i told her that i forgot to pick it up and if i can go in on sunday to pick it up (be mindful they are closed on sundays) she told me she would open up on sunday just for me to pick up my dress. I was more than greatful. She was not obligated to open up for me but she did anyways and I was truly happy. read more

Had an absolutely terrible experience here. Would give 0 stars if I could. Back in July 2015 I took my wedding gown here for alterations. This was a designer dress which cost over $3k; I took the dress here because my Mother has been coming to this place for years for alterations on formal gowns. Apparently, the person who does the wedding dress alterations is not the same person that does alterations for other gowns. I wish I would have known this. When I first took the dress in on July 3, a female tailor placed pins in the dress to mark where it needed to be taken in. I noticed that the pinning was creating visible bunching in the slip/lining of the dress and I asked about this. I was assured the lining would be altered along with the outer lace and that there would be no bunching. I was told to come back in a month. (When I asked about doing more than 1 fitting, I was told they didn't do that and it wasn't necessary). Fast forward to August 3, I try on the dress and there is significant visible creasing/folding on the front and side lining of the dress, along with several other issues. The dress was so tight I couldn't sit; the dress was originally loose on me and I had lost several pounds since the 1st fitting; obviously the dress was taken in too much. I was told the problems would be fixed and to come back in an hour. An hour later, same problems with creasing and tightness. When I pointed out that the issue had not been resolved, the female tailor claimed that because I have a short torso there was no way to prevent the front of the dress from folding. The same female tailor then stated that the dress must have come that way from the manufacturer (it didn't...there was no folding or creasing until the tailor started pinning the dress). Neither of these claims was asserted prior to this point. When I requested that the dress be altered further so the dress would lie flat to my body (without any visible creasing or folding), I was told that the dress had already been tapered and that there was no way the folds could be removed, either by a tailor in this shop or by any other tailor. I ended up taking the dress somewhere else and paid $500 to have it altered last minute. Fortunately, the woman who fixed it did an awesome job and the folds were completely gone. DO NOT take your wedding dress. The tailor/seamstress was offended that I wasn't happy with the terrible job she did, then tried to blame the poor job on anyone other than herself (including me). She did not seem to care at all that this was my wedding dress. read more

Do NOT use this place. I dropped off 5 pants to be hemmed. She was able to do 2 pants in an hour. She said I could pick up the other 3 pants on Tuesday (7 days later), which were not ready on Tuesday. I called and she would be in at noon on Wednesday. I waited 30 mins (12:30) in the car and she still wasn't opened. Once she was opened, the 3 pants were NOT ready (which is 8 days latter). She gave back the pants and took her pins out where she had marked them. 8 days no pants and can't have anyone else take them to get fixed, since she took "her" pins out. read more

I took 2 dresses here- a simple satin bridesmaid dress and an evening gown with heavy lace and beadwork. I needed to add 3/4 sleeves to the bridesmaid dress and the other gown needed to be hemmed. Penny did a great job with both dresses. She did exactly what I asked for and it was done really quickly. She accepts only cash, no credit cards. Penny is the worst lady I think I have ever encountered throughout my lifetime. She is such a classless person, that I cannot even begin to describe. I came to this tailor shop through the recommendation of my cousin. And I can't explain how disappointed I am. I brought this lady (Penny) 6 pairs of high end denim jeans for tapering and hem. The first fitting I was promised that the jeans will come out how they were pinned; however, the first job was not done correctly, so they decided to redo them. I came back 2 weeks later to collect my repair, and when I tried them. They were not done correct again! I asked politely if whether she can take a look at it. That is where she began disrespecting me! I understand I am a perfectionist, but that does not make it right to be mistreated. She started calling me difficult. And that she is not going to help me anymore. That is when I called her a low-class of a woman and that she has no place in the business world. I was really upset because there are jeans worth about $300-$400 a pants. I did not curse at her; however, I did call her low class and that she is the worst person I have ever dealt with as a customer. I am really angry and disappointed that I came to such a dump! Luckily, my dry cleaners has a tailor section and told me that the pants are fixable! I am truly disappointed a place like this exist in America. She should not be serving customers who want top quality work. I just can't believe how she neglected the fact that she messed up and tried turning it on me. I wish I can call her so much more but I won't. And I didn't curse at her not once throughout the whole ordeal! But I wish to say here and everywhere she is a classless person! It saddens and angers that I came across a person like her! Please, if you had high quality clothing and like your clothes tailored to your needs. Don't come here! Go somewhere else! Go to someone who deserves work in this country. Someone who will treat you with respect even if you are somewhat picky. Don't come here! Don't listen to no other reviewer here! Trust me! I explained my predicament not being from the area, she said come on in i'll have them for you in one hour. The zipper was replaced in less than an hour and beautifully done.
