Mark is amazing. He's very detail oriented and talented at making dresses work- no matter the situation. I've seen Mark twice now. The first was for my Maid of Honor dress for my sisters wedding. He made the dress really look the best it possibly could've and stayed in contact with me during the process. Could not have been happier with the way the dress fit in the end. The second time I saw Mark was equally as wonderful for a very different reason. I brought in a formal dress that I thought was too short and needed to be made into cocktail length. He saw me on short notice and fit me into a busy day. Once I got there and tried on the dress, he convinced me the dress was beautiful just as it was, even forgoing a paycheck for what he thought looked best. That's someone who cares more about making his clients look good than making money. Very hard to find in nyc. End of the day, mark is a talented, communicative, and detailed tailor but more importantly, he's an ethical and kind business man who'll do anything to make his clients look good. TL;DR: Mark is incredibly responsive and more amenable than any tailor that I've met to-date and I've been to quite a few of them. I took a new pair of trousers into Mark's shop yesterday (around 2 PM) to get them hemmed and a button replaced. He was incredibly friendly and broke down exactly what he was going to do, and also shared considerations that I didn't think about (such as saving some of the legging material in case they shrink from the wash). He contacted me today around 1 PM and asked that I come in to get them; the results were beautiful and I've never been happier with tailoring before. Holy freemoli, I cannot recommend Mark enough! I bought a bridesmaid's dress months ago and between the purchase and the wedding, I lost 35 pounds. In just under two weeks, Mark took the dress in two sizes. He actually told me it would have been easier to sew an entirely new dress! I know he worked so hard on it and it came out so beautifully. Squirreled away on the ninth floor of a nondescript office building there is an amazing tailor who delivers quality work with absolutely zero nonsense. Rather than attempting to push services, materials, or products you actually can walk away learning something new each time. The trust that you will inevitably build based off of that simple principle and the quality will have you coming back time and again. Rather than probing you with a few pins and sending you on your way, time will be spent getting everything right and almost perfect the first time around. Mark was an absolute pleasure to work with! He did such a great job of altering my bridesmaid dress for my friend's wedding and my own bridal shower dress which turned out to be no easy task after I bought it online and it needed quite a bit of work. Mark painstakingly took the time to pull the whole dress apart and put it back together to make sure it fit me just right. The tailor did a fine job at altering my clothes, despite being a week late than​ promised, but this review is about the sexual harassment I received. I am a 23-year old female. During the fitting, the tailor 1) kept looking at me inappropriately​, 2) told me that I look "cute and hot", 3) deliberately poked my breast with his finger - not by accident, he did it on purpose. 4) When I was trying​ on a dress during the pickup​, he put his hand on my waist for absolutely​ no reason - not to check or alter anything, just *casually* putting his hand on my waist. We were alone during the fitting, and there was another female in​ the room when I picked things up, but he still did it nevertheless, without any concern or hesitant, as if touching female clients in inappropriate areas is just a normal, casual thing. I should have left during the fitting, but I walked a distance with a big bag of clothes in hot steamy nyc summer, and he displayed those behaviors near the end of the fitting, so I stayed nevertheless, and I deeply regretted​ it almost right after, because pigs like him should not be able to do shits like this and still run a business. I write this review as a warning for other women and men who cares about the environment and culture we live in. *Reply to the tailor's reply: I'm petite sized and therefore have been getting my clothes tailored since high school. Strangely, nearly all the tailors I worked with are males, so I'm confident that I'm very familiar with the way male tailors work, and none of them worked the way he did. The tailor messaged me 14 times following the hour after this review (I was in gym), and offered to pay me to delete this review. As I replied him in text before blocking him, this is not about money at all. This is about teaching him that there are consequences for the nasty way he treats women and that he needs to take responsibility for it. I was standing on 35th and 7th during my lunch break when my dress decided to pop open, the zipper completely separated and broken. With a full afternoon at work ahead of me as well as after-work plans, I needed either a new dress or a tailor ASAP. I googled the former and to my surprise I was standing right in front of Splendor & Arrow. I was in NY with work for six weeks, and I happened to pick up a bunch of clothing items while I was there. I quickly found that Mark is easily the best tailor I have worked with, anywhere. While his quality is top-notch, his customer service and communication is what really sets him apart from the rest. He was incredibly responsive to my needs, both in regards to styling changes and scheduling. He had a great balance of providing valuable recommendations, while also listening to my likes and dislikes in fit/style. When I ended up wanting to change a cut, he was quick to adjust my pants at no additional cost. When my schedule suddenly changed, he was very responsive to changing the appointment to a better time for me. For somebody like me who knows how important a great tailor can be, Mark's service just cannot be beat. By chance was in New York City, after a layover & walked in to this place on a random Tuesday afternoon after being unable to find someone who would measure me while I was abroad. I opened the door (maybe knock first) and was met with Mark, who I may have startled a bit, but was quite kind and asked me questions about sizing and fit that I hadn't previously asked myself. He was super knowledgeable and just seemed like an all around good person - told me to call if I had any questions in the future. I gave him a wool coat to trim down, and could tell from our first meeting that he was extremely detail oriented and very knowledgeable.
