You just can't go wrong here! Everything I've ever purchased has been above average. The prices are fair. The quality is excellent. The service is great as well. Our all time favorite thing here is the jalapeño cheese sausage. Cooked on a charcoal grill at home is by far our favorite meal! And I don't even like pork, so that's really saying something! All of the steaks are excellent but we usually grab the t-bones. The hubs can never leave without a handful of the beef sticks for the week. So don't forget those on your way out! read more

I was extremely disappointed and felt taken advantage of. While I don't mind paying premium $ for decent products this was by far a shocker. Only because I neglected to purchase from my neighborhood butcher at Schotts in Alamo Ranch and i promised my daughter that I'd cook them when I came to visit in Marion, I took a chance and bought them. Because they're wrapped and not visible your purchase is a mystery. $37 later I'm cutting off pounds of fat. I will travel with my oxtails from Alamo Ranch in the future. read more

Took a drive to this hidden gem. Cute country store feel. Everyone working there was helpful as we walked around and admired the goods sold. Great cuts of meat, everything was reasonably priced. They had these huge dog bones and pig ears for dogs at $3.00 each, so our dogs got a treat too. Beats what they sale at Petco. $40.00 later we finally left with our treasures. We bought samples of turkey, dried sausages, cheese, boudin and jerky. They have a small selection of fresh chocolate milks, unfortunately they were expired so we were unable to sample. The only thing that did not meet my expectation was the boudin. For me it did not have a good rice to meat ratio. It was just "ok". This was worth a day trip. Try the coffee at the shop 2 doors down. read more

I so love driving out to this meat market. Everybody is always so very nice. The main reason i usually go is their bucksticks. Beef jerky really. And they are 2 bucks each. But they are huge. I discovered this place by a recommendation on the Nextdoor app after I couldn't find meat i the 2020 lock downs. Penshorns is now my go to place to get our meats. No shade to HEB but Penshorns quality of meats beats HEB hands down. Also, since meat prices have gone up so significantly, i think they are only slightly more expensive. I always get great customer service and even if there's a line it goes by fast. You can also call in and order and then just pick up but i prefer picking out my meats. read more

Myself & another shopper did not know there was a "system" or certain place you had to stand in line so we wasted 25 minutes standing in the wrong place in front of a counter for them to scoff at me when I asked if we would be helped. Very unsatisfied with their handling of meat. The lady that packed the meat wore gloves but handled pen and paper with raw meat on her gloves and the. Packed up the meat I was purchasing. Another lady came from behind the meat counter from packing meat kept the gloves on that she had been wearing to package meat. She then used the register and handled money then went back to packaging meat without changing gloves! Completely unsafe, unsanitary and completely a health code violation! Great local family butcher and full service meat purveyor for over 30 years. These people do it all: They process whole deers; they make sausage (fresh and dried); make ground you name it; they make salsas, jellies, and relish. They are located next to GG's corner cafe on Hwy 78 in Marion. The families have known each other so long that they bought the empty lot between their two businesses and developed a nice striped parking lot, so customers no longer have to park across hwy 78 and cross it. I get all my deli meat, ground beef (probably 95/5, super lean), dried sausage, jerky, and huge beef bones for the dogs. They have tons of specialty items such as relishes, pepper jelly, pickled vegetables, and other Texas favorites. read more
