There is a bar in the hotel lobby but if you walk right out the doors there are plenty of places to eat and drink. It's really close to the hop on hop off bus location and the grand place. The only reason it isn't five stars is because we checked in and were given a room on the sixth floor. The elevator only goes to the fifth floor so we had to get off on the fifth floor and walk up to the sixth floor every time. After walking around all day and carrying our suitcases around - this was not fun to hear or do. The room had basic accommodations. It wasn't anything special but it worked for us. Another pro is that it is really close to the train station. You can walk there in less than five minutes.

I guess he had not adapt to my lay-back I will get there eventually attitude... 5 minute walk from Gare Centrale to the hotel was painless as I rolled my suitcase downhill. The location of the hotel is just perfect for a short stay as a tourist in Brussels. Walking distance to all the tourist's attractions and bars. A location that is perfect for the ultimate bar crawls of those high ABV's Belgian beers. The room though was just really basic. I don't think I can last that long with that paper thin like bath towel. I was kind of grateful that the windows can be open as I desperately need fresh air after a few drinks! Hotel Ibis got extra +0.5 star for recognizing Platinum Accor status by providing 2 vouchers for a drink in the bar. And surprisingly the bar has a decent selection of local beers. Even if you are not staying in the hotel, it is still a good bar to hang since there is free WIFI and electrical outlets everywhere! I will not hesitate to stay in this hotel again next time when I am in town as long as the price is reasonable. And if you on a drinking vacation, all you need is a clean room that you can walk to after a night or morning (a few bars closes till 8 am) of drinking.

This rating may partially reflect the misaligned of the hotel experience to my higher expectations of a Design Hotel by Marriott. The staff was friendly. When we arrived a bit early, they offered to watch our stuff while we grabbed lunch. They mentioned a room should be available early as they were not too booked. We returned in about 2 hours just to check if a room might be ready but were prepared to continue to explore if not. They said the room was cleaned and just pending inspection. Foolishly we waited, it ended up being over an hour and we were now checking in after standard check in time. Frustrating but it happens. The room was spacious but had a few minor issues a hotel of this level should not. They bathroom door would not close all the way, and while spacious, the room is still cozy and without a fully shut door, one could hear, well, everything happening in the bathroom. Further, the sink would not drain unless the plug thing in the middle was fully removed from the sink. These issues were reported but we weren't expecting they be resolved before check out (and they weren't). I was on vacation but needed to check in on a few work items. My biggest annoyance was that their wifi was spotty and best and kept dropping in and out. I ended up having to take my laptop out of the hotel to send a few important emails. Disappointing. Location wise, it's great. Easy walk to everything. Tenish minutes to the train station. In the heart of downtown without being subject to all the downtown craziness. As the goal was to minimize time in room, the location made it easy.

The bed was not bad and the ceilings were high. **Amenities** Reservations were needed for the gym/spa amenities. There's a nice bar and restaurant in the lobby and I didn't get a chance to check it out. **Local Attractions** The Grand Palace is less than 10 minutes away and there's a Carrefour Market 5 minutes away on Rue du Marché aux Poulets.

Our room was in the basement, which at first, would seem like a bad thing, but there were only 3 or 4 rooms down there, and our room was the only one with access to the outdoors. Granted, it was a stone covered area where the furnace was housed, and there was no outdoor furniture, but still, being able to go outside without going up to the street was nice. The bed was comfortable and we had enough room to move around without constantly bumping into each other. The television and the shower could have been a bit larger, but we were only staying for one night, so we weren't too upset about it. Also, we just slept there, it wasn't a hang out spot for us, so as long as it was clean and comfortable, we didn't need 5 star accommodations. Traditional dark wood decor created a cozy atmosphere with a wooden staircase leading to the second floor where the feast was awaiting. The room had windows viewing 180 degrees into the square for the perfect beer pics. The tender meat and aeromatic cheese squares were the perfect complement to thick pieces of bread. Two totally different beers were introduced and described for consumption which included the Delta IPA and the Golden Carolus Tripel. Both beers were light and refreshing, although after devouring an entire plate of cheese and bread, my belt buckle was about to snap. Cool old style bar within steps of three hundred plus years of Brussels history.

There was already a small line but it only took us 10 minutes to get upstairs. Not sure how long it takes as it gets later because the line only gets longer and longer. And since it's located inside an office building, they only have two small elevators to get down. They have one small back elevator to get back down so that actually took a bit longer - something to keep in mind when you plan your exit. When you get up there, you get a 360 view of Brussels. It's not really a rooftop bar but more like rooftop views with a bar. There is no entry fee. There are seats and tables with QR codes. You order with the code and pick it up yourself at the bar. Prices are a bit more than a regular bar but still worth it for the views (and def way cheaper than NYC). You don't even have to order anything if you didn't want to. Plenty of people were bringing kids up there since it's not an actual bar bar. Highly recommend for some free rooftop views.

The major annoying part was the check-in process. When I got to the hotel, I could not get in the building. You have to go through this lengthy check-in process that seriously involves taking a picture of your Passport with your phone. I'm not gonna go do this out on the street! I tried pressing the call buzzer a good 10-15 times and it took a good 10 minutes to get anyone to show up. Finally someone helped me so everything worked out. Also, the whole thing is based on these pin codes to get on the elevator or into your room, they don't give you a room card or anything. I could have done without this.

We first stayed on the 5th floor and the room was super small, noisy and the air conditioner make horrible noises in the middle of the night. We complained with the staff and they moved us to the second floor to a more spacious and comfortable room. We had a pleasant stay here.
