Hotel Ibis is a budget hotel, but it is centrally located near the train station, Grand Place, tons of bars, restaurants, shops and all the touristy spots (Mannekin Pis, Jeanneke Pis, etc) and all are within walking distance. Our flight arrived in Belgium at 7:15 am local time. By the time we gathered our luggage, cleared immigrations, caught the train into Brussels Central, and made the short 5 minute walk to the hotel, it was probably about 9:15. We decided to stop in just in case they might have a room ready or at the least could hold our luggage until a room was ready so we could wander the streets.
Karine was the lovely associate who assisted us. We explained that we had just come off the plane and would really like a bit of rest, as well as a shower, before heading out. She checked her systems and said we would have our room by 10:00 and in the meantime would hold our luggage if we cared to step out. We were pleasantly surprised, especially not being used to such early check in in the US and all with no extra charge. Kudos to Karine for providing exceptional hospitality to two tired Americans - she earned Hotel Ibis an extra star!
The rooms are very small - in fact the bed takes up most of the room. The design of the shower was such that it was easy to flood the small bathroom floor without even trying. I agree with other reviewers that the towels are a bit thin and it would have been nice to have more than two bath towels and one floor mat in the bathroom especially considering how much water ended up on the floor, but it was easy enough to get fresh towels from the friendly, accommodating staff.
The room itself was comfortable even though small. I am not sure the air was actually working, but we were able to open a window which kept the room at a perfect temperature on this mild day. Everything was clean and the bed was exceedingly comfortable for what it was - a very thick pad on a base. Being a budget hotel, the room did not offer much in the way of amenities. There was a small TV at the end of the bed, a blow dryer in the bathroom and free Wi-Fi. They offered a bar and snack area as well as breakfast in the morning for a charge. All that being said, who comes to Brussels to hang out in a hotel room? It was perfect for our short stay, very economical and I would definitely use Hotel Ibis in the future. read more
