I don't think I've ever been to an airport like this one. When our flight from Vancouver landed…read morehere, we walked half a mile in these tunnel like things that kinda looked like gangways that went back and forth and then suddenly we pop out into the baggage claim. Kinda weird arrival. I like that the baggage claim area is small. They have a couple restaurants (including a Tim Horton) and a rental car desk and then check in is just around the corner. Walking to the rental car pick up wasn't too bad, and the rental car people were surprisingly nice. Welcome to Canada I guess. When it's dark, it's a little hard to see the rental car sign that tells you where to drive to drop off rental cars. The process of parking in the right stall and dropping off the key was easy enough. Air Canada check in should have been easy, but for some reason, our United booking didn't match up to the AC booking, but that's a different story. On our flight out of Kelowna, I was surprised to see that there are like 8 "gates" with 2 ish seating areas. I can see how it can get congested easily if there are multiple flights. We happened to be on the first flight out for the day so security and the waiting area weren't too crowded yet. We got to the airport at 4am for our 6am flight. None of the stores or eateries open until 4:30, so there was a long line for food and coffee at 4:40.

Helter skelter - that's the best way I can describe the airport... The Tim Hortons has a very limited menu and the other options are quite pricy. Unfortunately, would not recommend this airport. Spend as little time as you can in the secured area and bring snacks.

WOW. I am absolutely FLOORED by the customer service here. How can someone get so enthusiastic…read moreabout a car rental place? Well, rent from THIS Budget location and you'll see. Mike M is the manager and does an amazing job. Kacie is my savior and deserves some type of Budget award. My step-mom had reserved two cars at this location and one at the Kelowna location. They got stranded in Alberta and were unable to pick the cars up on the designated day. I emailed the manager, Mike, and he responded immediately saying he'd hold the cars for us. Of course, he did and we picked up the SUVs from Kacie the day after originally reserved. They even let us leave the vehicles in the lot while we went to the Penticton Farmer's market, 2 blocks away. Days later we had to go to Alberta to drive my dad to pick up his stranded RV. Kacie was able to switch out our vehicle for a larger one with no problem. Even after our mess up and not getting to the downtown location before they closed, they met us at the airport location and made it happen. What really impressed me was the way that Kacie was able to clear up the mess that the guy at the Kelowna location had made of our rental. We told him about the crazy situation of me renting all the vehicles in the place of my step mom, who would we driving each of the three vehicles, and when they would be returned. The incompetent guy at Kelowna had me paying for a supplemental insurance that did _nothing_ for me. Kacie told me that the supplement was only for people using a credit card with car insurance on it, which I told the guy in Kelowna. She was very sweet but she was clearly frustrated that the guy in Kelowna had me paying for something that had no worth to me. She fixed our contracts and back dated them. She was patient, helpful, and all around the best car rental person I have ever dealt with. I guess it could be a small town thing, but whatever it is, I'm impressed. I will always rent from them when in the Okanagan, which is often.

Five stars all the way!

One star is way too generous, but Yelp compels it if I insist on posting…read more My daughter and I were picked up by cab 104 driven by driver 0097. This guy was unbelievable. First he brokers a deal with an innocent third party woman whose hotel is nowhere near the motel my daughter and I are staying at. While I'm grateful for the immediate cab, this guy is ensuring the trip is worth his while. The driver agrees to $20 cash - he emphasises the word CASH - I agree on the condition that I get a receipt. He agrees - and then he begins to drive with my left foot still on the ground and my passenger door wide open! I haven't managed to completely get into the cab - most of my body was still outside. My daughter calls his attention to the fact that I'm still outside and he so he stops. No acknowledgement whatsoever. (As I write this, I now see Leanna M's Yelp - I feel you, girlfriend!) Next the driver takes us down the highway, barreling towards Summerland and soon passes the turn-off to Skaha Lake Road and the Flamingo motel. I say 'you need to turn here', loudly. He doesn't stop, or slow down - he doesn't even move into the right hand turning lane, rather continues barreling towards Summerland in the fast lane, as if I've not said anything, so I repeat myself even louder still. I argue that we needed to turn off the highway, I'm pointing and held hostage. He's making eye-contact in his rearview mirror; I'm seated right behind him. I haven't had a chance to put on my seatbelt. The driver finally reacts and turns off highway 97 at the entrance to Penticton; Westminster Ave, and now he has to backtrack south to Main st and all the way west along Main back to Skaha Lake Road. We've basically doubled-back. I'm in the backseat watching the guy's meter. His $20.00 quote would have sufficed to our motel, but now we arrive at my motel and the meter reads $32.00 He's a huge, non-English speaking brown guy with a high level of entitlement, zero accountability and he's not leaving. My daughter paid the $12 over-my-dead-body so we could get our gear and end this sad saga. I called this ecotaxi company and didn't spare anyone's feelings. Righteously, they made him return the $12 he didn't earn honestly. He can keep the bad attitude and greed that he tried to share. Dealing with this cost me some presence and distraction - And, yes, It was my choice to pursue this injustice: I just couldn't let this guy get away with it. As an aside, the innocent third-party woman needed to be deposited to LakeSide Resort - I dare say she was closer to where the driver finally turned off the highway. I wonder what he charged her for the ride?
