The team that installed the roof were at the house early and didn't stand around but got right too it. When they were finished and gone, our property was immaculate! You would have never known a team of workers were there. The next day two fellows installed the new gutters in about two hours and once again the grounds were left spotless. It took 5 weeks and 3 crews to install a skylight in my house. First crew did not cut opening inside. Second crew opened ceiling and left beam blocking the skylight. Jessica told me that the beam was part of the interior work, which I was responsible for. After telling her I would see her in court, the third crew came and cut the beam. They did a fantastic job on both even during the beginning of Covid when things were so difficult Unfortunately this winter a large tree fell on the shed and they fixed the whole free of charge. This company replaced the roof for my neighbor on Tuesday. I live in a fee simple adjoining town houses. Simply put that means I own the driveway the land, the roof, and the siding everything. It's like owning a single-family home just attached to another home. When I arrived home on Tuesday, I noticed that my front bushes have been trampled, Pieces have been knocked out of my Rockwall. My pathway on the side of my house had been cleared of snow. It was obvious that the roofers had used my side walkway and my driveway to drag their tarps of used materials out to the street. They obviously dragged this across my property without permission. It left a trail of small plastic pieces that likely held the roof roofing tiles together in the package all over my side walkway all over my driveway. Granules and pieces of flashing were also coating my entire driveway and my front walkway. It's clear none of the area around my property had not been tarped and it had been used without permission. I see based on the reviews that I am not the only person that this has happened to as there is another complaint about not protecting a neighbor's driveway. I found nails in my driveway And directly in front of my front door as well. I was lucky that I caught them before I had a popped tire In addition, the roofers left garbage and nails all over my roof. This is obviously a concern, especially this time of year with the weather because those materials can easily fall down into my gutters and block them. I immediately called the company when arriving home on Tuesday night Describing the damages and what happened. A nice office manager or secretary named Jessica returned my call on Wednesday morning. She was very helpful and asked me to send pictures so that she could notify the owner which I did. I was then told that the owner would come out at some point on Thursday to look. I was asked not to clean the debris and granules off my driveway or walkway so the owner could look at it. Keep in mind this is the only entrance to my house, a brand new house that I just bought a month ago. I have a five-year-old so now we are trying to navigate walking through granules and debris being tracked into the house for two days. The owner came out on Thursday. He called me when he was on his way. I was still at work I let him know that I wouldn't make it home in time that he could look at the property and do what he needed. After that phone call, I heard nothing back from him. It is now Saturday morning. We have a noreaster coming in tomorrow and I am sitting here taking screens off of my windows and trying to pull the garbage off the roof so it doesn't end up in my gutters. I had a great experience, not once but twice this year. March 2025 and August 2025. Penyak replaced 2 roofs for me on two homes I own. Each one was done in one day and both were priced just right. They cleaned the gutters and put them back up on one roof but they changed the gutters on the other and did the gutter guards. They cleaned up all the debris and left behind zero nails. Some of the office workers are the most clueless and rude people. I had the misfortune of having to talk to Lindsey. She was snotty over the phone and did a horrible job at answering my questions. She claimed that I would be scheduled on numerous occasions, but it took over a month for me to get scheduled. She claimed over and over that she had to "talk to Mr. Penyak.", and every time I was met with an even longer waiting period. All and all, I enjoyed the work produced by this company, but I would advise speaking to anyone else in the office besides Lindsey. read more

I had my shingles delivered and I had asked them to fit me in to his crazy schedule and he kept texting me everything will be alright! I told him to come over and look at some of the issues I had to see if the chiminey vent was done right the gutters were full of rocks and dirt and had run water through the gutters because he kept saying he will send someone over he sent his son which just walked around I kept telling the owner Mr Joseph Penyak to come over do a walk through and to talk about adjusting the bill and one of the roofers Luis told me that he has done roofs for 30 fucking years and then proceeded to yell at me saying what are you trying to fucking say! I told him don't you curse at me I won't tolerate it! I told Mr Penyak and he did nothing about it! To date he has not come over to go over my issues and adjust the bill! So I will have to wait and see if it will leak because he is not coming over or addressing my bill!!!! read more

I am a retired construction manager and needed a new roof for my church in Somerville, This work involved tear off of a pitched roof with 2 layers of shingles and a flat roof the 2 layers of built up roofing (one layer with stone ballast). I received 3 quotes and selected Penyak based upon both price and the answers to the question I raised about scope. The work was done in two phases the first was the pitched roof which was completed in one day and cleaned up so thoroughly that you would not have known anything was done. The second was the flat roof area which involved the tear off noted and new insulation and a rubber membrane. This too was done in a single day and cleaned up so completely that I was impressed again. Penyak replaced our roof and gutters, including all of the boards because they were all at the end of their life. At first it all seemed great, the roof looked awesome. Then, the gutters were done. I have found sharp pieces of gutter and at least 10 screws around the yard that my dogs and toddler run around in. I was furious! Then we opened the attic to find that they didn't lay anything down when working and all our boxes of decorations, extra baby items, and new insulation had roofing debris all over them! The worst part was when we were in the attic we noticed mold growing all over the new boards. We called Penyak and they did send someone out, although it was a complete waste of time because they are claiming the mold is because we have false baffles. We have never had mold in our attic and have always had fake baffles. I'm very upset and we have. Toddler living in a house with an attic full of mold! I'll never use this company again and I will tell the whole world to never use this company again. They had a chance to fix the issue and instead came up with an excuse. read more

I called to arrange for a roofing estimate for Tuesday, 2-4. At 4:30, I called Penyak to say that the guy had not shown up, but had to leave a voicemail. The guy finally showed up around 5:30, and said I would have the estimate the next day. The next morning, I received a call from Penyak saying they were following up on my voicemail, apparently not knowing that the guy had come. They said I would probably receive the estimate the next day (Thursday). It is now Saturday, and I have not heard from them. Poor customer service, and poor coordination. read more

Well either they are disorganized or just so busy that new business is not an priority at this time. Joe: I am sorry I did not receive any quote from you. I have great filters set and emails that matter to me are never sent to spam. Also if you website is down it is "your Problem" not mine as a customer. It is between you and your service providers. I had a new roof and gutters installed a year and a half ago. I was very happy throughout the process. Recently I discovered a leak in my dining room at the roof line. I called Penyak and they said they would have someone call me in a day or 2 to come out. That was on October 6th. When I hadn't heard from anyone, I called back on October 9th, they told me they were very busy, but would make sure that someone called me to schedule a visit. No one called. I called again on October 13th and left a message. No one called me back. I called on October 16th and the woman I spoke with said I wasn't on the board, but would add me and someone would call me on Monday, maybe Tuesday. Has anyone even called me to set something up, let alone come to look at the leak in my dining room since having my roof installed? Nope. I am completely understanding about people and businesses being busy and also how COVID has affected everyone, including myself. Which is why I am a FIRM believer that communication is IMPERATIVE! The only reason I am giving Penyak 2 stars is because the process of the roof installation was quite smooth and the women answering the phones have been pretty friendly considering that they are answering phones from people who are frustrated and having to make empty promises about calls being returned and services being scheduled. Horrible service and the staff have limited info. Once the initial deposit was given, The scheduling for actual work was supposed to be on the holiday weekend so we changed our plans and reserved parking. But no one turn up and on Monday morning workers come line up as we rush to office. They took 7 hours and had to tell 3 times to clean the yard properly. These people just did the roof. Then someone else came a week later removed the gutters, installed rake boards. No one came for next few days to install new gutters. So many follow ups and the office says they will call back and no one calls back. For chimney cap, two times two different people came and finally decided we don't need to replace cap only the metal around it. They added aluminum on rake and fascia which was not even asked. we are still trying to explain to them as they completely messed up. Me and my husband even went to the office and explained everything. It has been a horrible experience. read more

They were super quick in doing my roof. I made the partial payment on Wednesday and I was scheduled for same weekend Friday. Shingles for delivered on Thursday within an hour after we decided the colour. They showed up 7:30 am sharp on Friday morning as promised. By 9 they were done with ripping off one side of roof and meanwhile they were ripping off other side and simultaneously started putting shingles on another side. After two weeks of back and forth calls, they finally made an appointment to have Anthony come out for an estimate. I changed my schedule to accommodate it. Did Anthony show up for the estimate? No. Did Anthony...or anyone...call in advance to tell me he couldn't make it? No. Did Anthony...or anyone...call afterwards and apologize for not showing up? No. You do the math. Rude and inconsiderate of my time. I'm sure the owner will jump on to respond how I should have called him directly, or how he has a full office staff and an email went to spam / junk, but it's all BS. I never emailed them. They've been using that excuse for years, and it's all over their Google reviews. They don't get it, though. They need to change how they do business, but they don't seem to care. The other day I was driving on River Road in Piscataway and they had a full-size billboard. That would suggest they need business, but they sure don't act like it. I'm thinking they probably go on to Google Maps, check out your house, and if it's not in a decent area, or a McMansion, just ignore you. Shame, because as head of the realtor's association for many affluent towns, Penyak will go on the list of contractors to AVOID. In addition, as a manager of over 100 team members in a service industry, I share your exasperation of not being made aware of issues while there is still time to address them. Therefore, I am sharing the following with you. Your company completed a pretty large job at my residence yesterday. It was an entire roof replacement on a 3000+ square foot home including skylights (5), gutters, and downspouts. I called the office with some concerns yesterday afternoon and was requested to send the photographs that I had. I sent an email including some of the photos to penyakroofing@ymail.com as instructed at 2:26 PM on Friday June 25, 2021. If it has not been forwarded to you, please ask your team to do so. Your crew members (roofers and the gutter/leader team) are awesome and they work hard while they are on the jobsite. Terrible...2 biggest problems were clean up and flashing of the chimney...many nails left behind and some in plain sight...3 days after new roof and plywood installed it rained and found water in basement leaking from the chimney...called and they sent someone out to look...was told it looks good but found maybe 1 possible spot it could be coming in...next day he went up and fix it...2 days later it rained again and found water again in basement...I was withholding finally payment until this was fixed to my satisfaction...about 9-10 days later someone else came out to fit it and was told there is no way it can leak...as of this review with the rain we had 2 days ago it didn't leak but I certainly am not holding my breath on it...also during that week we received phone calls from the company office asking about final payment...they seemed more concerned about money than they did fixing the problem...attached is some photos of lack of clean up and water in basement read more

So these guys won me over even before I was a customer. In 2020 to find a company with heart and personal integrity and actually cares about someone just because is RARE. A raccon got onto our roof and tore a huge hole in it. We paid a small company to come patch it... they might have made it worse. Rain was pouring in to my daughters room. I saw Penyak roofing doing a job across the street and I thought maybe I can pay them to put a tarp on my roof. I called company and they agreed but refused to take a penny for it. Somehow I had just mentioned my brother passing away who was Marine as Joe's father is. I don't know if that's why they did it. I can't figure out why someone would just be kind for no reason now a days. They reaffirmed my faith in human beings They put the tarp up and it lasted until we could secure the funds to pay for the job in cash since we were concerned about money due to COVID... We had gotten estimates from some of the popular names in Essex County. The last company that we considered gave us a quote for DOUBLE what we paid Penyak. When the tarp blew off in the big storm, they put up another one while we were waiting for the materials. I didn't mind waiting for the gentlemen came to fix the roof and the roof to our garage because it was all done in one DAY! We had a dumpster full of old wood and three layers of shingles. There was debris everywhere !! Not only did they move our plants and outdoor tables, but they were very careful to lay tarp as to not mess up my daughters trampoline and our grill. The clean up was immaculate. I went out to check to see if any got on my neighbors property and he was amazed and how meticulous they were. The crew worked without ceasing from the time they arrived at 7am until 4:45pm. I purchased cold water for them and they drank while working ... never stopped and this was a big job on a hot day. They followed up to see how everything went which shows they have pride in what they do. I would highly recommend them. read more
