Always available and had an answer to every question I had. Very helpful and I believe that most of all very understanding. As you all know we are going through difficult times with the Covid-19. Other funeral homes were giving me a very hard time and they seemed overwhelmed with work and even making me upset to the point that I would end up crying. Monica instead gave me her full attention and to this point answers every call very politely. My husband's wake was 6-7-20 everything was how I would have wanted to be. Since my husband had all his family in Mexico they were able to provide a transmission of the ceremony via their Bormann Funeral Home website(same owner). Maybe in the very near future they can just have it directly through their own website address. Everyone in Mexico were able to view the ceremony online, and were very happy that they were able to say their goodbyes to my husband. It really felt as if they were present. This service can definitely be improve by increasing more light in the room so it can look less dark when it is been recorded live, just a few people told me about how it looked dark. I don't know how new this live recording is in the U.S but definitely it was truly appreciate it that they were able to provide that service. No extra cost! At other Funeral homes they are charging at least $80 dollars. My husband remains will be sent to Mexico, therefore I am still waiting for the consulate's office to give us the Go! It is not up to the funeral how fast that can be done. But do let me tell you, they take care of all the paperwork that needs to get done to make this possible. I will come back to this review and let you know what happen after that so you can have an idea of how lengthy it was, hoping is not. I am very optimistic. Andersen Funeral Home and staff, your are doing a very excellent job! And I thank you dearly for your hard work and dedication.

--- Our family…read morerecently had the profound need for the services of Alvarez Funeral Home after the loss of our loved one. To simply say they "handled the arrangements" would be a great injustice to the exceptional care and compassion we received. From the very first moment, Ms. Alvarez distinguished herself and her home from any other we have dealt with in the past. Where others felt transactional, she was deeply personal. She did not just see us as clients, but as a grieving family in need of guidance and support. Her patience, empathy, and genuine kindness were a steady comfort during the most difficult days of our lives. Ms. Alvarez took the time to listen--truly listen--to our stories, our wishes, and our worries. She helped us navigate every decision with grace, offering gentle suggestions while always honoring our desires. She removed the overwhelming burden of logistics and allowed us the space to simply be together and grieve. The personal touches and attention to detail made all the difference, creating a service that was a beautiful and authentic reflection of our loved one's life. What sets Alvarez Funeral Home apart is this heartfelt, human-centered approach. Ms. Alvarez and her entire staff provide more than a service; they provide a sanctuary of understanding and respect. They walked beside us, never ahead of us. To anyone facing the unimaginable, we cannot recommend Alvarez Funeral Home highly enough. Thank you, Ms. Alvarez, and to your wonderful staff, for your invaluable help and for treating our family with such dignity during our most difficult time. Your compassion made all the difference.

I will never use this funeral home or recommend them to anyone, not even if they were donating…read moreservices. My brother passed away on January 12th and they handled the services. It was issues from the time I signed the documents for them to handle the services. I requested to meet them at the funeral home to see my brother once he was picked up from the county morgue and they declined but offered to send me a picture of him. Who does that? They sent me a photo of my brother laying in a body bag with blood all over his face and his chest stitched from the autopsy. Really? How insensitive! Fast forward to the viewing day which was before the funeral. I show up that morning to view the body so that I could approve the viewing. When I saw my brother, he looked like someone that I had never met. I had to request a makeup artist get there immediately to make him look like himself. The service was beautiful and then we had him cremated. I called for weeks to check on his cremains and no one called me back. Eventually I found the cell number of one of the employees named George who was heaven sent. I left him a message on Feb10th, and he called me right back. He told me that my brothers cremains were ready for pick up. It had been three weeks. I picked up a portion of his cremains and shared that my brother's wife would come by for the other portion. She has called many times and as of today, they have not given her anything. Fast forward to March, keep in mind my brother passed January 12th. I had been calling Corbin Colonial for weeks now to request the two death certificates that I paid for and again, I can't get anyone to return my calls. I called the medical examiner office on April 1st. Now if you are familiar with Chicago, they are dealing with triple the numbers of deaths then any funeral home in Chicago. The next day, I received a call back from the medical examiner office explaining that the death details were sent to Corbin Colonial on April 2nd and I would have to reach out directly to them for the death certificate. It is now April 16th and I have called at least 12 times and still no return call. No death certificates and no cremains for his wife. Channel 7 News and my Lawyer will be my next calls.

If you've got a funeral home your family has been going to for generations, great. If not, you need…read moreto figure things out pretty quickly and Caring Cremations makes things easy with a website where you can choose your options and have upfront pricing which seems pretty reasonable. They also offer services and online obituaries, etc. but it's a very easy option for a simple cremation and all the accompanying requirements (just pay the money for at least 5-10 death certificates, you'll probably need them). I wouldn't recommend filling out the online forms on a regular phone as things can be small for reading and you don't want to risk a typo in the official documents but the whole process is pretty simple on a tablet, laptop, or full size computer monitor. I didn't complete all the online documents until late in the evening but they showed up way down in Oak Lawn early the next morning to pick up my father. Expect timing to be roughly a week after that unless you need expedited service, but standard timing was fine for my needs. The funeral home for pickup near Pulaski & Addison can have congested traffic, especially during rush hour or when there's a Cubs game, but there is an easy parking lot in back or delivery to your home is an option as well. Not a place you hope to deal with, but a helpful option for many to get things done when needed.

My wife received the call about her brother's demise at 3:00AM from the Chicago police department. We live out-of-state and following the direction of the police to call a funeral home was overwhelming not knowing of any funeral homes. I won't go into detail about my first attempt in complying with the police request. It was dreadful and useless. The next attempt was a call to Casey Rios and Brian Koskiewicz answered the phone, it was 3:30 AM now. Brian immediately relieved our concerns and gave guidance, explained the process and committed to working with the police, county coroner and our family. Thank you, Brian! Upon our arrival at Casey Rios Funeral Home in Chicago, Hilda Rios and Leandra Lee couldn't have been more understanding and helpful. They were available around-the-clock to provide answers to all our questions. Every detail facilitating the arrangements unfolded in compliance with the state rules, in agreeable, compassionate conversations. Leandra went out of her way to get the necessary documents ahead of the normal processing time, knowing we had limited days to complete the activity. Our heartfelt appreciation and gratitude is offered to all, during our time of grief.

The antiquated look is gone, and I was pleasantly surprised that it had been upgraded. I mean, come on, funeral homes can be dark and not the type of place you would consider beautiful, but I will say it has been upgraded all the way. From the entrance all the way to the backdrop of where your loved one will be resting for viewing purposes. Even the cafeteria is upgraded and bright. Something that was needed for many years. My coworker was waked here, and it was a beautiful service in so many ways. Although a sad occasion, the fact that they could make it so beautiful made it the right place for her family to bring her last days on earth to be seen in. I am highly impressed with what was done here. Although my workers and I came for a somber moment, we are grateful once again and for having so much parking in the yard and across the street.
