Worst service ever their lazy carelessness has caused me so many problems and they keep telling me they can't fix what they messed up unless I leave my car there overnight? We were passing through Fort Walton on our way to the keys from California. We felt something off with our brakes. We were at the Harley dealer up the street and decided to have the brakes checked before we headed south on a holiday weekend. i explained what was going on and the guy came out and briefly looked at our brakes and said they were fine. He told us it was normal for that occur. Needless to say. We made it down to the keys and began leaking brake fluid. Luckily found a tire king who was able to fix our brakes and vehicle safely. This must be the smallest store I have ever seen at Pep Boys, they have no products to buy, or not many. I just wanted thread locker in two types and they did not have any for sale. The closest store for these items were 1 1/2 to 2 hours drive. I went to other store for items I needed. Why not offer to order the parts I need at discounted pricing or just regular price, keep the business in your store. read more

These places amaze me. I needed my caliper hoses changed, that's it. They gave me a list of several things wrong with my vehicle totaling $1200. Telling me I may need new brake calipers. Just the caliper hoses alone they wanted to charge me $270 for parts with the majority of this being labor. Then the manager tried to make a deal with me and add some other bs in there for a price. Long story short, I went to the auto store and bought the hoses for $38 and found a mechanic to put them on in LESS THAN 30 MINUTES for $65. Now, you tell me how the heck were they going to charge me for so much labor when the job took not even an hour!!! Find a local mechanic and pay him. These places, like Firestone and Pepboys, will steal your money if you even seem like you don't know anything about cars. Pretty expensive. Went to Pep Boys for a last minute, Friday night oil change before a trip. In all fairness, my truck takes 8 quarts of oil, so 3 extra than standard, but the cost was $58.02. More than expected, but they did rotate the tires. Do your research and you could save some money. read more

I was out of town and my wife had a squeak in her car. I told her to go to pep boys and ask them to change both belts. This is a job that can be done LITERALLY in under 15 minutes and that includes a 10 minute smoke break. Remove splash guard, use 1/2 breaker bar to loosen tensioner and pull belt out. Take a 10 minute smoke break then come back, repeat process. You cannot mess this up. They charged her for a full hour labor, which I understand since it's the policy of most shops. They kept her there for an hour though I guess because they didn't want to make it look like it was a quick job. That's fine I guess. I get home and we drive to Texas to visit family. On the way I hear high pitch noises from my engine compartment. I pull over to check, and sure enough the splash guard wasn't properly installed. It's just 2 screws people, it isn't a tough job. It was on there wrong and it was eating my drive belt away. Drove to an auto zone and replaced it myself in less than 5 minutes since I don't smoke. Did I go back? Of course not, if they can't change a drive belt then it's probably not a good idea to let them touch anything else. read more

No star if I could. I had my car there for over 2 hrs for a oil change.. I come to get my car. I paid and I'm have to wait another 15 mins just for them to reset the maintenance light. I tell them I'll reset it myself and they pull the wrong car up. THey never even changed the oil in my car they did it for a different car. So now I'm waiting for them to change my oil. Did I get a free oil change? No. Did I have somewhere to be. Yes. So I'm pissed. read more

Extremely rude personnel with no sense of customer service. After calling and confirming they had a tire for my trailer and could change it that afternoon, I was "greeted" by a rude little boy who did not know how to speak to a lady. According to him they are an auto shop for cars and not a tire store. Even though they had the tire I needed in stock, and their other location confirmed they change trailer tires, this store proceeded to tell me they could not do it unless I went off the property, pulled the tire and brought it back. I was NOT going to give them my money and ended up using my spare and changing the tire myself. Wish I could give negative stars... Took truck to get ball joints replaced. They called saying all sorts of things were wrong with truck,told them go ahead and replace what was bad. $2000 later I'm driving the next day and brake line blows out. Almost killing me and my wife seeing as we were doing 60 on the highway. Had to swerve into the ditch. Look under truck and brake hoses were ZIP TIED to the frame. While under there I noticed my splash shield for motor was missing. The bolts for the control arm were not tightened at all and my wheel spacers were completely missing...I replaced the brake lines myself so I could drive truck up there and show them. They were very nonchalant about it and didn't want to refund my money. Instead they said they had another customers vehicle to get the parts off of. Called cooperate and instantly the local store called me. Ack saying they would refund me part of the labor costs. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS!!! Doesn't matter if you have a blowout in front of the store. PLEASE FOR YOUR SAFETY TAKE IT TO SOMEONE WHO HAS PROPER A.S.E. CERTIFICATIONS!! read more

I walked into this Pep Boys at 5:05pm today and asked to have a tire patched up. Before I could even finished asking, the guy at the counter cut me off by saying "so what time are you coming tomorrow". I was confused because they close at 6pm. I asked are you closing soon? He says, "Yes, we are closing at 6 but its going to take a 45 to 50 minutes to complete a patch work." Having had patch work done, I know it does not take that long. There were no customers in and I can see the mechanics hanging out in the back. This guy was extremely rude and I'm upset that I did not think about getting his name. Never again, I'd rather go to Tuffy Auto Service. I feel more like a valued customer there. read more

These guys were my second stop after the dealer tried hustling me into unnecessary repairs. Derrick and his guys were decent, nice and didn't give me a hard sell on things that my car didn't need. They took care of the problem and pointed out some things to look out for, which I already knew from my mechanic where I use to live. All at a fair price. Being new to Florida, I was apprehensive to try mechanics that weren't a car dealership. I'm glad I did. I appreciate it even more because women get hit harder with repair costs. Great service, honest advice, customer focused. I went in for an odd engine noise and they spent a long talking with me about their diagnoses and answering all my questions. They went on a long test drive with me to pinpoint the problem and gave me solid advice about what to do. I think they're overpriced and just because I'm a female does not mean I know nothing about vehicles. They talked to me as if I didn't know what they were talking about and I argued with them a few times. When they overcharged me for a few things, they paid for my oil change. I went to pepboys about for a regular oil change that I have been getting done regularly for 3 years now on my Cadillac Escalade. I provide my own oil and oil filter (penzoil high mileage 5W30, Bosch filter 3334) but on this day I also brought in a bottle of Lucas transmission fluid that I wanted to add to my vehicle. Before I gave him the bottle I asked the mechanic if it was safe to use on my particular vehicle since I've never used Lucas in the transmission before and if it wasn't I would just take it back but he advised me that Lucas was safe for everything, well little did I know it wasn't. About 3 days later my transmission locked up on highway 123 and I was unable to drive it anymore. Now before I took my truck in to pepboys there was nothing wrong with my truck and even though it had 130,000 (mostly highway) miles on it there was absolutely nothing wrong with my motor nor transmission, so I had it towed to Aamco off of Elgin in fort walton beach who usually does all my major repairs. Well after getting it towed the owner of AAmco called me and asked if I added any fluid to the transmission and I told him that I had asked the mechanic at pepboys to add it if it was safe, Wayne (the owner of AAmco) then told me that Lucas transmission fluid cannot be added to my type vehicle because of the compounds inside that would cause swelling of something and would eventually cause it to lock up as it did. I then researched if that was true and called Cadillac, Chevrolet and another pepboys to confirm that and everybody said that it was not good to add that and did not recommend doing so because it would cause the transmission to mess up or do some weird things. After finding this out I was mad because I specifically asked the mechanic who added it was it safe and he said yes, I trusted him with my truck as I don't do easily and then this happened. I called to ask what they would do to help fix it since the mechanic at pepboys said it was okay to add it and I was directed to the area manager Ken, off the first conversation I had with Ken he was very rude and disrespectful by interrupting me when I was speaking and laughing in my ear while basically saying I was full of BS and that it was my fault. I finally got him to listen to me while I spoke and explained that I am no mechanic and that I asked was it safe before I gave the okay which HIS mechanic said it was safe, but he finally said he would have the dealership look at it. Cadillac said they could not determine if the Lucas was the problem unless they took apart the transmission and looked at it which Ken was unwilling to pay for even though he said he would cover the cost to get it diagnosed. Bottom line I was left to cover expenses for my transmission even after filling a claim and never hearing from anyone again on whether or not they would cover it. I cannot believe I was treated with such disrespect by not just pepboys area manger (Ken) but also the adjuster Rebecca who has yet to return my phone call to answer my question I've had for several months. I have called multiple times and even put in a complaint about Ken for how I was treated and asked to speak to his boss who also did not call me back. I used to recommend pepboys to my family and friends but after they did this to me I don't recommend them to anyone, not even to get air in their tires. I have been a customer of theirs for 3 years and they did me wrong when I ask that they take not just responsibility for their mechanic and his bad advice but also to help me fix the issue which was left unsolved. So if you feel like trusting people who don't care about you go to pepboys but if you want somebody who actually cares about you and your vehicle I recommend you go anywhere else to anyone else because you won't find the respect, quality nor caringness from this company. I will never go back and still have yet to receive any updates or resolution on the claim I put in months ago for my transmission from the area director Ken or their adjuster Rebecca. And the only reason I got a yelp account was just to warn people of their lack of respect and concern. Also because Ken works at this location and I don't recommend having any dealings with him either. So if your car breaks down after leaving a pepboys shop your best bet is to take it somewhere else and get it looked at and fixed because they will not help you fix their mistakes. Only thing they will do is forget about you and say it's your car or your fault for why whatever went wrong. read more

Took my car in to get a quote on brakes..... They quoted me $1400 and stated that the hoses needed to be replaced, the rotors couldn't be turned and needed to be replaced and that another part was frozen and needed to be replaced. I took it to Trib's Auto and they advised me that the front rotors needed to be replaced but the rear rotors could be turned, the hoses were fine and that whatever part was frozen wasn't (if it was the brakes would not have worked). Saved me over half of what I was quoted here.... read more
