Located just outside of Puerta de Sol. This is a great place to enjoy Espana tapas and a drink!…read more The tapa portions are very large: the small size anchovies, contains two pieces of bread with 5 white anchovy fillets, diced onions, green olives, drizzled with olive oil. For a savory entree, I recommend the oxtail stew: 10 pieces of delectable oxtails in a brown gravy sauce. This tasted more like a beef pot roast, rather than a tomato style gravy. The oxtails are paired with thick cut fries.

They do have a Sister location next door -difference is less Tapas and Paella is on the menu. We started with Sangria and the Alhambra house brew. The Beer was billed as an IPA but tasted more like an Ale-very good. The Sangria was a bit sweet and refreshing. Complimentary Manchego cheese was a nice touch. Our Server warned us that their Tapas are larger than the typical size and she wasn't kidding-more like Tapas on steroids. We started with the Goat Cheese with onion and blueberry sauce. I don't think I've had fried Goat cheese and this was delicious. Blueberry sauce takes it over the top. Tortilla Omelette (Spanish Omelette) was filled with eggs/onions-very good. Last Tapa was the Cured Iberian Loin. Again, big portion. The surprise was the flat chicken breast and peppers under the Loin. This one was ok. Decided to share the Rice with 1/2 Lobster. Sauce was tasty mixed with the Rice as well Lobster. Not much Lobster though. Service was excellent with our Server patiently answering all of our questions. They've been around for almost 100 years. Don't miss the Goat Cheese Tapa!

Not sure how this place only has 3 stars... Monty's is excellent!…read more My wife and I found Monty's on that other trip site that advises people (why isn' Yelp bigger in Europe?). It was a bit out of our way, but we're glad we made the trek. Mi español no es bueno, but with the help of our waiter (and Google Translate) we made it work. This is easily 2 steps above bar tapas. We ordered these delicious fried goat cheese balls to start. Fantastic! (They served us 5, I ate the first one before I thought to take pictures. Lo siento!) Our mojitos were delicious. I ordered the Argentinian steak with truffled mashed potatoes. My wife had the pulled pork burger (or waiter, Manuel, used his limited English to make sure we understood this was pork not beef. Very helpful!) The pulled pork had some delicious fried queso and a side of fries (chips to ye Brits) Those of you who know me know that I am a steak lover. This steak was probably in the top 5 of my life. A beautiful piece of hanger steak, perfectly salted, you can taste the smoke from the grill. And the chef hit a proper medium. The prices were extremely reasonable for what we were served. Steak was under 10 Euros. In Massachusetts, that's a $25 plate all day long. Our whole bill, 2 drinks, an appetizer and 2 meals was less than 40 Euros. At the end of the meal, we managed to put together enough Spanish to ask for a cab. Another waiter came over, and explained in perfect English how we could catch one on the street, what the green light means, etc. Our experience at Monty's was a solid 5 stars! Cinco estrellas! Perfecto!

From the moment you step inside, you're greeted with warmth, elegance, and a touch of old-world charm. They don't enforce dress codes ( making the guests feeling uneasy) as we were pretty causally dressed and still were given a very warm welcome unlike some French restaurant that wanted to enforce their style upon us. One of the standout elements of our visit was the exceptional service, led by Juan Jose, whose expertise and passion for his work truly elevated our meal. He had the patience of a saint while answering our questions and as well us going back and forth with our choices and he didn't bat an eyelid nor roll his eyes, a true hallmark of an exceptional host. He didn't just serve us, he shared the ingredients behind each dish with such enthusiasm that it felt like we were partaking in a gastronomic journey through Galicia itself. It definitely made our experience that much more enriching. The menu at Los Montes de Galicia is a celebration of the best that Galicia has to offer, with some delightful twists. We began with the pulled croaker with citrus sauce and flying fish caviar a beautifully balanced dish, with the light and delicate fish complemented by the tangy citrus and the burst of flavor from the caviar. It was a refreshing start that set the tone for the meal. We followed that with a salad of crab, tomato, and avocado mousse with black trumpet fish roe, which was a vibrant, refreshing combination. The sweetness of the crab, the creamy avocado mousse, and the saltiness of the roe made for a wonderfully layered and exciting dish. Absolutely loved it. The sole with lemon butter followed, a classic done to perfection silky, tender fish in a luscious butter sauce that was both rich and light at the same time along with the sautéed peppers and onions made it fun to chomp through. Juan was kind enough to clean it for us and made it for a fun eating exercise. Then, there was the cod in mayonnaise slab over a bed of spinach, which was both inventive and delicious. The cod was perfectly cooked, flaking beautifully under the creamy mayonnaise, and the spinach ( dehydrated and crisped) added a subtle earthiness that grounded the dish. To end the evening, we indulged in the Galician cheesecake, which was nothing short of heavenly. The rich, velvety texture of the cheesecake was perfectly balanced with a tangy sweetness. It was served with a homemade confit of passion fruit that added an exotic touch, bringing a burst of tropical flavor that paired wonderfully with the creaminess of the dessert. All in all a job very well done to the chefs and cooks at Los Montes de Galicia !! If you're ever in Madrid and want to experience authentic Galician cuisine in an upscale yet inviting setting, Los Montes de Galicia is an absolute must-visit. Highly recommended for food lovers and those seeking a special dining experience!
