On this day alone, I witnessed a birthday party, a sweet date, friend groups, families, and solo painters. I'm NOT an artist so honestly, felt a bit anxious making those first colorful paint strokes on my coffee mug. I mostly settled into the experience knowing there was no turning back now! An hour and half later, I handed over my creation and a couple weeks later, VOILA. A reminder of this fun afternoon! (the less glowy stuff) I never got a call about my item. I only knew it was ready because others in my group were posting pics of their final products. When I did call, they couldn't find my slip so it became a hunt based on my description. I don't know what would've happened if I didn't have pics from the day I was there. Also, not sure *I* think it was worth $44 for a coffee mug BUT the group experience + final product makes me glad to have been introduced to Create It. I would both recommend and return.

It's just a couple hours from San Francisco. Of all the places my Dad visited and taught at around the world, Mendocino was his favorite place. It's a magical place perched above the cliffs facing the Pacific Ocean, just beyond the Headlands. There's a courtyard that connects each studio, the gallery at one end. There's paintings, pottery, photography, lithographs, glass sculptures, etc. During these times, the art center is closed but you can view current artists' work on their website. Some pieces are available for purchase. You can even see a little bit of its magic through the screen.

Be aware that as I write this the Yelp page, January 2, 2022, it still shows the gallery on Plaza street. The gallery moved to 334 Center street in mid-2021. Alexis has a cute and funky store front (which appears as a renovated gas station from Highway 128 just so you know what to look for), but the best was when she welcomed us into her studio and let us watch her at work on the wheel. She makes amazing whimsical pottery, creative and innovative animal and totem pole sculptures and functional household items in a glaze I liken to a Mediterranean blue. We also found out that she has a cool mug club where you get a new mug shipped to you every 3 months so make sure to ask about this when you visit. It is always fun to meet a gallery owner/artist in person and be able to purchase an original work of art.

I verified this, by asking both the thief, Walt Rush and the manager of the gallery, Lu Vickery. They both admitted that my designs were stolen. Copies of Granite Mountain Arts designs continue to be displayed in the gallery against copyright law. These are poorly replicated low quality baubles that are in no way associated with Alexandra Magnan or Granite Mountain Arts. I would not recommend patronizing a business that steals other artist's work. There is never an excuse for theft or lack of integrity.

I saw a beautiful table from the Mendocino Heritage Furniture Co made out of reclaimed redwood. There are some beautiful items made by local artists.
