Great experience. Like others have said, Lynn is great. It's her shop and I'm pretty sure she's the only one who cuts hair, so that's easy and reliable. My wife has cut my hair for years because I've kept it short and using a buzzer is easy. I'll bet it's been 8 years since I've paid to have my hair cut. Well, I finally grew it out and... it's been an experience. I went as long as I could stand and finally had to get it cut. My hair curls when it gets long and it was getting ridiculous. So I got on Yelp and saw what I could find. Hello, non-manly-sounding Perfect Hair Stylist with great reviews. But lots of reviews came from guys, so hey, let's give it a shot. I had no idea what I was asking for other than, "Please clean it up a little and thin things out, because I have no idea what to do with this mess." Lynn was great about it and took things in steps, not over-killing it the first time. It looked great afterward, and I waited until the day after to write this review to make sure it still looked good the day after. (That's always the test, right?) Yep, super easy to work with this morning and still looked great. Perfect experience. And yes, still only $12. It's easy to tip big when a haircut only costs $12 and service is top notch. I made an appt ahead of time and got there a few min early - so she started a few min early as I was the first appt of the day. I was probably in the chair for 30 min as we talked through managing the rats' nest on top of my head. I'd say that's a long time for a guy's haircut. Only $12 for 30 min of quality haircut? I'll be back for sure. Oh, and even if you're only spending $12, credit card is still accepted (with a line to tip if desired). Was just passing through this part of town and realized I really need a cut. Found this place on google close by. I like old school barber shops like the ones I had in New Orleans, but they're few and far between these days. Gotten used to paying $30-50 for these "salon cuts" that really are very hit and miss. Wasn't really expecting much when I walked in but for its price probably one of the best haircuts I've gotten in a long time. Maybe I'll make the trek to this part of town more regularly. read more

I've always been very happy coming in here for my regular haircuts. Always friendly, always quick, and the price is fantastic. Tip Lynn well because she works hard and doesn't overcharge you. She takes walkins but I recommend getting an appointment like the regulars do - often she can fit you in same day if you call. With an appointment I've never had to wait more than a couple minutes, unlike a certain place I used to go where they try to placate your 30+ minute wait with a big-screen TV.... Only downside is that Lynn hasn't been able to find good co-stylists so most of the chairs in her shop remain empty! read more

You get what you pay for, cut was like 22 minutes long. Did a crap job. Hair looked noticeably worse and uneven after the cut.

I went there off of a review that I thought was from Yelp but must have been from another website. Regardless of where I wrote it down from, I loved it. No frills, just a good haircut and it cost me $6. When she said $6, I actually thougt she was kidding and so I asked her again how much, and still $6, so I gave her $10 and had one of the better haircuts I have had and at half the price of some of the other places. I have gone to the whole range of hair stylists and barbershops and actually ended up with SportsClips for a long time, but their stylists seem to have gotten worse and worse and their cuts more and more expensive. I walked into Perfect Hair Styles, didn't wait at all and sat right down. I hate getting my haircut. I typically go to the chain shops like Great Clips or Sport Clips because they're all I can afford. Whenever I go to one of these places, I begin feeling anxious because I am clueless when I have to tell the stylist what I want. After a minute or two of awkward hand gestures and comparisons to pictures on the wall, the stylist decides to placate me with assurances and starts cutting away. The end result is me walking out of the shop with the same cut (only shorter) and regretting it a few weeks later because it grows out all weird and I end up looking like a homeless rodeo clown. Today, I decided to try a local place to see if I could change my luck. After tooling through all the reviews on Yelp, I figured I'd give Perfect Hair Stylist a shot. When I walked in, Lynn greeted me warmly and let me know there was about a 30 min wait. This was fine as I wasn't in any rush. When my turn came, the only thing I had to tell her was that I was planning on growing my hair out and she took it from there. I guess she could tell I was out of my element because she began suggesting tips on things I should or may not want to do if I wanted to keep my hair looking decent while it grows out. This really put me at ease. I learned a bunch of tips that I think every other stylist I've been to should have told me, but didn't bother to. Ten minutes later, I was walking out of the shop without feeling like I was going to regret it later. This was the best experience I've had at a barbershop that I can remember and only for $12! Found this business right here on YELP. Saw all the good reviews and I was out n about and only 10 mins away, so I decided to give it a try. Walked in and I was immediately greeted by Lynn (stylist/owner) 15 seconds later I was in a chair and Lynn worked her magic. It was more or less a trim and clean up and she delivered exactly what I wanted. Not just a buzz cut of my entire head like some other establishments like to do. Quite frankly, if I want that kind of cut, I can do that myself. Friendly and personable came at no extra charge. The price of $13 is more than reasonable, so don't be cheap on the tip. Have gone to this stylist a few times. It is no longer the $6 or $7 it was when they opened, but I think it is $12 from now on. The $7 was just a store opening deal. It is still cheaper than most places for a good quality haircut. Nice lady, but this is a barber shop, not a salon or stylist by any means... asks how long since my last cut... 3 weeks... cuts an inch off my bangs and then asks if short enough on top. Whose hair grows an inch in three weeks? Even most barbers cut a little at a time. I went this evening after reading some of the reviews online, and it was by far the BEST haircut I have ever received!!!!! I get haircuts once a year or less, and when I go in, my requests are usually very simple, but every single stylist to date except for Lynn have an idea about what they would like me to do with my hair, and the very things I ask to avoid (lots of layers, because my hair is up a lot, and it makes it hard) are what everyone wants to do. When I got there tonight, it was almost closing time, and she welcomed me in anyway, and then took time to listen to exactly what I was looking for and then gave me EXACTLY what I asked for. She was kind and attentive and very skilled and still polite, even though it was about time to close.
