I bought my first DSLR from Christopher in January of 2009. He gave me a few pointers and I had great success shooting in portrait/auto for over a year. When he opened Perfect Light, I heard about the intro class and my wife signed me up for my birthday. Christopher is a wonderful teacher. I walked away from the class shooting manual and inspired to get creative. Christopher has always been, and now the whole staff is, so fun to walk in and shoot the breeze with. This is a crew that loves photography as much now as they ever have. They're as excited about the art as any noob is. I'm so glad Idaho Falls has a camera store. That's pretty darn special. This has got to be the best camera store that I have ever been to. The staff is friendly knowledgeable and always ready to answer any questions you may have. The owner Christopher Balmer has to be one of the best photographers ever. I feel so fortunate to be able to have someone like him in our town. He teaches photography for every level of your skills. From a beginner to someone who is intermediate or even a professional Chris's passion for this hobby shows in his teachings. Chris even does a lot of photography get away's. Don't buy your equipment online, Christopher Balmer will take better care of you. You won't spend any more money, and he will offer you his advice and tips whenever you need it. I am really happy with my Nikon D610. but even as familiar with photography as I am, the free class for buying the camera there really helped me take better photographs. He also threw in a free 64GB SD card. I can't wait to take more classes there. read more

I dropped my camera off to have the sensor cleaned by Christopher. He wasn't in at the time but Katie told me it would be cleaned within the hour. I came back two hours later and it still was not cleaned, she told me it would take yet another hour since Christopher had 4 other cameras to do. I decide at this point I can no longer linger since I live out of town and come back a different day. After an entire week of waiting and not hearing back from them, I decide to just go in and pick it up, cleaned or not since I couldn't wait any longer, I needed my camera back. When I get there first thing in the morning, they weren't even open when they were supposed to be. I decide to run my other errands and come back an hour later and Kevin had just unlocked the door. He tells me my camera has been cleaned, so I take it home and notice that there's MORE dust than was there before, and even small hairs in the eye piece and a scratch on the lens! When I called later to ask about it, Katie was very rude telling me that Christopher certainly did not do that, and that he surely cleaned my camera. Katie told me she didn't want to refund me because she didn't want to be charged the 3% fee to put the money back on my card. I decided to not argue with Katie about it and just cut the loss and needless to say I will never be going back, which is a disappointment because I love supporting small businesses. I'll be doing all my camera shopping online from now on. read more
