I had put off the removal of a large back yard rubber tree (which had engulfed a mass of communications, cable TV, power and telephone lines), due to the difficult, technical extrication process needed to remove it... Hiring a competent, trustworthy, dependable, knowledgeable company seemed an imposing task, and I was very nervous about it... As always, Yelp was the "trusted friend" to help winnow out the imposters from the pros... After some Yelp reading (and a bit of research on my own), I called to schedule an estimate with Perfection Tree Specialist. Michael was very personable, booked the appointment and gave me a feeling I could trust and depend on him... Hard to define, it was just a sense... Michael showed up exactly when he said he would, to examine the situation and quote the removal. He was knowledgeable, genuinely friendly, and gave me the sense of a work ethic that only comes from having grown up in a business, with a love and appreciation of it... (He's third generation...) He had the belief they could remove it without trouble, and quoted a very fair price... We booked the removal date. On the removal date, again, Michael and his team showed up right on time... (How awesome is that?! And twice in a row? That's not an accident, that's a SERVICE ETHIC...) The team got all their tools and equipment into position and began the delicate extrication process... The removal was trouble-free and remarkably quick for the amount of precision cuts required and overall size of the tree. They were also able to accommodate some additional work scope requests while the job was underway, did an outstanding job with THOSE as well, and left the yard CLEAN!! I had a HUGE (maybe 30 feet?) palm tree in my front yard. It's been an ugly nuisance for the 16 years we've lived here. We arrived home and were absolutely amazed at the work that was done! They literally went above and beyond all our expectations. We're having a swimming pool put in but needed a couple of trees removed as well as some shrubbery. Shortly after the heavy rain and wind we had at Christmas a large elm in our backyard partially fell over, coming within a few feet of our roof. Our house had sold and the sale was closing in 2 days. We called Michael about 8pm and he was there by 10. So far so good. He gave us a price of $4000! We had called 2 other tree people we have used but they did not get back to us so we accepted the offer. He showed up with a crew the next morning and they got the tree out by 3:00. They were supposed to grind the stump. They sliced with a big saw but left a pretty significant hump. If I was staying in the house I would of asked for a more complete job, but I let it go. They did a neat job and cleaned up. When my husband told him he was paying with a credit card Michael charged him another $200. I think $4200 for 8 hours of work is way way too much and that Michael took advantage of a desparate elderly couple. ( I am 70 and my husband is 81). read more
