When someone first referred me to NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association), I was initially disappointed to find that they don't do things that way. I came to this clinic on a referral from a neighbor, as my current chiropractor was on vacation. My lower-back pain was excruciating, so I was deeply concerned I'd done something irreparable. Thankfully, he uses a table with a standing platform, and he tilts the table forward so you can be reclined face down without any trouble. My back was so bad, I was having a great deal of trouble getting in-and-out of bed, so I wasn't sure how I was going to get face down on a massage table (which is what my previous chiropractor uses). It was an effortless visit on my part. He gave me some instructions for using ice packs and avoiding back strain that really made a huge difference. A few days later, I feel like I have reclaimed my life. It's been transformative. Plus, he is a wise and wonderful person. He got to the source of my pain right away. You just don't find many doctors as perceptive as this one. It was the first time I'd felt a doctor really listened to and understood me. He shares a suite of offices with his wife, Susan, an acupuncturist, and she is lovely as well. It's a very soothing environment, a healing space. They share a practice on Orcas Island, too. They are a gift to both communities!
