I have been visiting this place every other week for about 2.5 years and its one of the nicer places you will find. The staff are friendly and the residents nice and always seem to enjoy the activities provided them as well as the care

My partner was there for 2 months, recovering from surgery after a previous nursing home sent him home with a massive chest infection. He was completely bed-bound and had serious pressure sores from the previous nursing home which were not taken seriously at Carolina Point. He was left in wet diapers for hours and his anxiety disorders exacerabated by having his call bell ignored. Shortly after he got there, someone threw away his dentures from his nightstand, in the case with his name on it and took six weeks to arrange to replace them. In that time, he was supposed to have pureed food, as he couldn't chew anything, and it was only occasionally provided. I was there once when dinner was served (un-pureed) and when he said he couldn't eat it, the server went and came back with a ham sandwich and said that was the only option. I ended up pureeing food at home and bringing it to him for most of that time. The end result was that they sent him home immediately after his dentures were replaced, August 25, 2025 and two days later it was discovered that the pressure sores on his feet were so badly infected there was rot. He was back to the hospital for surgery, and the surgeon did manage to save his right foot, but the infection is still being fought (it had reached the bones in his heels) and he will likely lose his left foot, which is not responding to treatment. It was only after all this that I discovered Carolina Point had one star out of a possible five from the NCDHHS and also a red flag for not reporting a complaint of patient abuse.

We had extensive experience with hospitals and out-patient facilities over the years, both for our own needs, as well as those of family members. Hillcrest stands out as one of the very best facilities we've ever come across. The most important thing about Hillcrest may be the quality and commitment of its staff, from on-site doctors and nurses to the CNAs, OTs/PTs, maintenance (Mike) and other support staff. A special shout-out to Scott (OT), AnnMarie and Kris (PTs) for knowing when to push and when to back off, and to being so incredibly upbeat at every step. They are highly skilled and carry out their duties every day with a warm, welcoming and cheerful outlook that gives the center a rare, down-home feel. Nurses (Heather, Chantel, Mustapha) are really attentive and stop by to listen and chat about music; CNAs (Rhonda) even bring flowers from home when I've had a bad day. Apologies to those many staff I haven't named; you're all wonderful and made our stay worthwhile! Hillcrest's facilities are clean and airy. There are patios for getting some fresh air and well-equipped workout rooms to support rehab. Even the food at Hillcrest is worth writing home about!. Internet/WiFi access is spotty at best and is an area that needs attention. So, if you need a rehab facility for yourself, family or friends, you would do well to seek out Hillcrest. FYI, I think one of the key factors behind its consistently high ratings is that it's been family-owned and operated since it began operations in 1951. It retains a family vibe that other facilities owned and operated by equity partners, hedge funds and large chains lack.

This facility is well managed and it's very professional. I met personally with the manager and the dietician, who both went over and beyond in their help. Thank you! The facility also provided free coffee, which was real special. There was a well stocked library along with board games, as I recall. A small chapel held a service on Sunday. The food was fantastic and meals were served in a beautiful dining area. A special touch were the beautiful aquariums. Physical therapy was great! My PT was Filipino and she was so kind and patient. This place is special and I wish I could have stayed there when I broke my shoulder a few months ago.
