At 3pm, still no room.......we had four rooms, but the party had pretty much the entire hotel. At 4pm, still no room....but someone walked in the door at 4:05 and they received a room. At 4:15 again, I went to the front desk. Up to this point "Dave" was helping us. He was busy and an older taller lady with long dark & gray hair "helped" us. This is where it got ugly. The lady was the rudest hotel person I have ever met. I asked for answers to why and when. All she did was give me a nasty smirk and I actually told her to remove that smirk. I asked for the Manager, she said the Manager could not do anything about it. I asked again, within 15 minutes we had the Manager. We explain the guarantee we received when booking the Wedding and that we had a pre-wedding party to get to an an hour. She said they were having staffing issues and our four rooms have not been released yet. I informed her, I went to our rooms and the doors were open. The rooms were clean. She explained they have been inspected as complete yet. I explained to her that people have walked in and received rooms. I explained to her she needs to swap out rooms for people standing in the lobby vs. people who have not arrived. 15 minutes later we had three rooms. While standing with the manager as she clicked on her computer, I heard another guest ask the tall long haired lady, "What is going on?, Why aren't rooms ready" The same rude lady behind the counter which smirked at me...........Told the other guest, "It's none of your business." Wow. I thought her husband was going to jump over the counter at Ms. Tall & Rude. The next day I caught a room cleaner in the hallway and said they did not have to do a complete clean on our room. Just give us towels and coffee. We received NOTHING. Hotel Millwright way over promised and way under delivered. I'm shocked at the lady behind the counter. Dave (behind the counter) was nice.. The Manager did not have her arms around the operation. She made people stand in the lobby for an hour and a half while rooms were available, just not reassigned. Regarding the reception.......the facility was nice. However, certain food items ran out before all guests were fed. The bar was understaffed and the lines were long. Hope this review finds many people and saves you from the Millwright.

Room was clean, mini fridge was very helpful, air conditioning worked well. Normal check in is 3pm - I asked if we could get in a little earlier to get ready for the wedding there. Not only was the answer yes, but I got a phone call when the rooms were ready. In all my years booking hotel rooms, can't say I've ever had that happen before, and it was much appreciated so we were confident we'd have plenty of time to get ready. Great service!

Pros: The suite was spacious for such a cheap price and was well furnished and very clean. The bed was soft enough and the couches and chairs provided were all comfortable as well. The Lodging is very close to main street in Amana and was within walking distance of most of the attractions, restaurants, and shops. The bathroom is also handicapped accessible Cons: The main problem we had with the Lodging was that it was advertised as a Bed and Breakfast. While the bed part was pretty nice the Breakfast was...well neglected. The "english muffins" were stale and the tea and juice were ancient and tasted bad. Luckily due to the central location there was a very nice cafe ( Serena's ) right down the road where we had a great breakfast. Additionally the lodging had no wifi or any way to connect to the internet and the television had a limited 20 channels and bad resolution. Overall we had a nice stay in the Lace lodging but would have appreciated more attention to have been paid in regards to breakfast and technology.

When you walk in, there is a lovely room with a queen bed with quilt and nice furnishings. Then a door to the right is to the bathroom with sink shower and toilet, nice fluffy towels and soap. On the other side of bathroom is another door that leads you to a dining/living room with a twin bed. Then a door to the kitchen that has a sink, microwave, fridge and coffeemaker. They had tea, coffee and hot chocolate mix. Also, sugar, creams and sweeteners. The owners son lives downstairs and was very friendly and hostipitible, also had great knowledge of the history and area. This B&B is located right next store to an old communal kitchen used by the Amanites which is on the 3 hour tour (RSVNS made seperately through Visitors Center - which I also recommend). If going back to Amana I would def stay here again. The only thing that was missing was shampoo and hairdryer, but everything else was perfect.

We were met by the innkeeper, who showed us to our room and how to operate a few things. The unit was very nicely decorated, (lots of cat decorations) clean, spacious and comfortable. It was the upstairs unit and the top door was a beautiful stained glass door. Inside, we were treated to a comfortable sitting room with large flat screen tv, coffee table and wicker chairs. There was another beautiful stained glass cabinet with tea pots and saucers in it. It was so beautiful that I had my husband paying attention to this really fine workmanship so he could someday build me something like that. That didn't go over well... The kitchen had everything you could need including a full fridge, stove/oven, dishwasher, nice dining room table, kettle and coffee maker among other things. There was plenty of kitchen items for cooking and once again clean and beautifully decorated. More cat decorations! There were two bedrooms, of which we only used one. And guess what? More cat decorations. Not complaining as we have two cats! I thought they were pretty neat. The unit itself definitely had a feminine touch of decoration without feeling old and like you were at Grandma's house. It was a nice change, as hubby isn't overly fond of the B&Bs that feel like you are at someone's grandparent's house. The second bedroom was very floral, so good thing our son wasn't with us. Ha! The bed was comfortable, the heating system worked well and the bathroom was great since we were only there two nights. No jacuzzi, but fine for our short stay. We opted out of breakfast, since we wanted to try some of the restaurants in the town, so we cannot comment on it. The price was very reasonable at $80 per night. I've spent several weekends here tent camping at site 54 (walk up) over the past few months. This…read morepark is about a 10 - 15 drive on 94 (Blairs Ferry) from Cedar Rapids (now that Palo Marsh RD has reopened). Tent sites are generally 'walled off' from one another with patches of natural flora separating the sites, with a walking path leading the length of them. (Water spigots are also available on this center path). Each and every time has been ideal and serene. Most visitors adhere to the 'quiet time' rule (10:30 PM to 6:30 AM, I believe), so noise is generally not a concern. Washroom facilities in both the shower equipped and latrine are clean, and well stocked with toilet paper. DNR staff are both friendly, and generally 'hands off' during your stay. My most recent stay was on 10/22 through 10/23, and albeit a very cold morning, the views were breathtaking with the morning fog surrounding the park. (Image attached). I cannot speak to fishing at the park as I have not fished here, however camping is great, and I highly recommend this park.

Camp sites do not provide private water/sewer but there is a good water/sewer station on the way in. My only complaint. Thurs evening we had friends join us. The Ranger Man enforced a 2 car per campsite rule. He forced 3 over 65 couples to drive to a parking lot and I shuttled them back and forth. Really? Do us Seniors party too hard for you? Haha I understand rules but I don't have to like them...
