What's an absolute gem this place is! Traveling east on I-80 we decided that we wanted to stop for the night in Williamsburg Iowa, and we found the Crest Country Inn listed on Priceline. This roadside motel is a lovey throwback to old Americana roadside motels that was a little slice of heaven. Foor $60, we reserved a king size room, which had a microwave, a mini fridge, great wifi and cable TV (important as I don't typically sleep well and use the TV to fall asleep). They also had a continental breakfast room with OJ, coffee, fruit, yogurt and honey buns. As a person with insomnia, I have to tell you, I had the best night's sleep that I'd had in ages! The mattress was comfortable, and the bedding was so soft and smelled fantastic (I'm aware that sounds weird, but I have sensory issues...so much so that I spoke to the owner in the morning when we checked out about where she purchased the bedding and the type of laundry detergent they use.) When we checked in, they recommended a local restaurant for dinner, the Sundown Bar & Grill, and I am so glad we went to dinner there! I cannot recommend this motel more! From their friendly staff, and comfortable rooms, to their fun decor and beautiful grounds (picnic tables & Adirondack chairs), I will definitely stay here again when we travel through this area. Well maintained. From the AC unit to the shower, everything seemed impressively clean. We stayed in a king room and the bed was super comfy, the room was cozy and comfortable We couldn't hear anything through walls from next door room or from people celebrating a wedding nearby. We slept great and I would certainly recommend this place. read more

I stay here about 7 times a year. I can stay anywhere and most of the time when I travel I stay at Hampton Inn. With that said. If you travel a lot you know the shower can be the saddest part of the day but not this time. It was clean and wonderful! Clean sheets! Clean carpet! Nice breakfast room. Stayed here for our 31st wedding anniversary. This is by far - and I travel allot - one of the nicest motels I've ever stayed at. Our room was immaculate and it seems each has a theme - ours was Africa. Even the paper the directory is printed on matches the room. It's not a big room but had everything you need including two huge chairs and a small desk (the legs need tightening). It is also modern - not run down - the owners pride shows. Also a fridge and micro - even a fly swatter! I understand there is a light breakfast but we didn't check it out. Front desk checkin super fast and friendly - they use "old fashioned" keys. Dog friendly for $20 a night. Our room with taxes was $100. You are close to the outlet mall (sadly many stores closed). McDonald's, Arbys, and a couple bar grills very close. I mention this because some people might be offended (gasp). The room does come with a travelers prayer and "Daily Bread" is on the desk. As a Catholic deacon, I found this refreshing. If you just need a place to hop off I80 or you're around for event, this is the place to stay! read more

This is a quaint and charming motel and the surrounding view is like something out of a Norman Rockwell painting. The price was reasonable and the room was cute and clean. They also had all of the amenities we needed. If time allows, check out the nearby Fireside winery! Have a glass of wine or two and share a charcuterie board. This was a great stop. read more

It is just off Interstate 80. It is a nice location with no noise from the busy traffic. Close to the Outlet Mall so possibility of some shopping although not a lot of shops anymore. Rooms were clean, nicely decorated and beds were comfortable. We were able to pick adjoining rooms which was a good option to be able to have inside access to family also staying. The Continental breakfast was lacking in its offerings. It was a bare minimum. But a restaurant near by was good. read more

Kind of a mixed review. Didn't have a bad experience or anything, the motel itself is fine. Just some off-putting things to mention along with some perks. PRO: room had a nice looking TV with Showtime included. CON: had to use the printed/laminated channel guide in order to figure the channels out. Seriously, is it normal to have to enter four digit numbers and a hyphen in order to get to a specific channel in Iowa? PRO: room had an AC. CON: it took several hours to get the room cooled down. We like it chilly when we sleep and I was tossing and turning and sweating until about 4am. PRO: room included an ice bucket CON: no clue where to get ice for the ice bucket. There is a hallway that connects the two opposite sides of the motel, which is where it would have made sense to be, but no luck. PRO: your stay includes a "light continental breakfast." CON: we found a sign in the hallway room/breakfast area that encouraged us to help our selves to breakfast sandwiches and instructions on how to use the microwave. Is this the "light" breakfast? PRO: bathroom had a walk-in shower as opposed to a tub/shower combo. CON: shower had virtually no storage for shampoo or any other toiletries. Just a tiny dish for your soap. Speaking of soap, there are no slip resistant pads or mats in the shower area and it gets very slick once it's wet. Maybe that is why there was also a handicapped chair in the shower (I'm joking, I knew we were placed in a handicapped room). PRO: owners left cute little make up remover wipes and had designed wash cloths labeled for them. CON: owners also left a printed and laminated prayer on the bedside table. If you are turned off by religion, this could bother you. Also left in the room: a mouse trap under the bed (not very reassuring), a fly swatter in the bathroom (also not reassuring) and an envelop for tip money to give the housekeepers (shouldn't that be included in the price of the room?) PRO: bed looked nice, clean and comfy. CON: each bed only had two pillows. Most hotels leave four per bed and each have different firmness levels. One of my pillows were completely flat and the other one was only semi-flat. PRO: free wifi included CON: the windows give some privacy and block out most of the light, but the outside security lights still shine in and eliminate the outline of the curtains pretty brightly. If you are someone that needs complete darkness to sleep, you might have a hard time here. Bottom line, this place is ok for a one or two night stay, but I personally wouldn't stay much longer than that. read more

I wasn't happy about the prices at the chain motel down the road, so the woman at the counter referred me to this place. Folksy hospitality and a charming hilltop location keeps this independently-run motel going. Sad to say that I think I would have been better off shelling out that extra $5 for the chain. My room appeared comfortable enough upon first inspection, but then -- 1) I stepped in a wet puddle on the carpet that had accumulated by the sink -- this was before I had even turned it on, so it couldn't have been my doing. 2) I realized there was a *reason* for the fly swatter hung up on the wall. The room was indeed overrun with flies! It's offered as if it's a "service" to the guest, an attempt to be helpful. When you see a flyswatter on the wall as if it was a permanent fixture, you'd be wise to regard it as the plastic warning flag that it is... 3) Big ol' bed bug under my pillow. I photographed it. Sorry, I'm not leaving a tip for the housecleaning crew, though they left an envelope with a suggestion to do just that. Maybe these were just seasonal problems (I stayed during the summer). But if this is how the motel is run during peak traveling months, I hesitate to wonder about the slower months. I'll blow through this town and find another place to stop if I'm ever traveling down I-80 again. read more

Unexpected overnight stop. Found this on Expedia. Good price, easy access off the interstate. Found this to be an excellent surprise. Not a fancy place, but exceeded my expectations. Easy checkin by a pleasant host. Allowed me to park my large horse trailer on a gravel pad under a light (no horses inside!) via an easy circular drive. Comfortable, very clean room. I have absolutely no complaints. I would stay here again. read more

Moving cross country is never easy but our one night stay at Crest Country Inn was a wonderful way to end a day of travel and towing. I only was here for about 4 hours for a quick stop on a drive from chicago to phoenix, but really thought this was motel was a good value for the money. The owners are very nice and you can tell they truly care about all their desks, especially compared to what you'll get from the "big box" type chains that start the rates at $100...which, when only staying for a quick sleep really doesn't make any sense. I arrived "after hours" but the owners live on site so that was no problem at all once I arrived. Room was very clean, bed was comfortable, tv worked good-and the the in room free wifi is very quick, much better than I am used to at hotels and I'd say is comparable to what you'd get from a cable internet at home. This hotel was requested to us to use for our wedding night back when we booked our venue over a year ago, then they had different owners and were a very highly recommended motel which we were excited about. Recently an ownership change has caused a large decrease in the quality of the service and stay. In September of 2020, we had booked a block of rooms for the wedding night (September 2021) and when many of our guests and wedding party went to check in the new owner denied them their rooms and had re-sold them to make more money than what we agreed to in the wedding block. The worker at the front desk (may be the owner) was very rude and unapologetic of this. They did not seem to care to honor the room block nor the rates. Additionally the rooms were filthy and had lots of cob webs and spiders. Not to mention the AC was not in working condition for our wedding night. I would not recommend this motel to any other wedding parties nor in general for that matter. read more

My extended family and I stayed there to attend a wedding as the venue was right down the hill. Positives: -proximity to the wedding venue -the grounds were very pretty and well managed -they have a small play area for children and sitting area in nice weather for adults -generally clean rooms Negatives: -Securing a block of rooms was a nightmare! Had I not checked and rechecked and checked again on my reservation or some of my rooms would have been given away to another family attending the wedding. I told them to charge me for the rooms I had reserved prior to our stay to BE SURE they were not given away without my knowledge (the bride didn't have a room--she said it was given away). -Not sure if it was COVID protocol (the wedding was November 2021) but during the two days we were there our bed was not made nor did we receive clean towels in our room. -The continental breakfast consisted of mini donuts, yogurt, toast, and a carafe of coffee that when it was done it was not replenished. -Desk staff was unavailable at times when you would expect the desk to be open so if you had a problem with your room, etc., it was difficult to get service with no one at the desk/the office door being locked. (A member of our family who smokes said they went outside of their room to smoke and locked their key in their room. They were able to use a credit card to open the lock and get back into their room. ) Know that some would consider the room styles at this inn (each room seemed to have their own "theme") as quaint while others would consider the rooms to be dated. I stayed in the African room that had a spear curtain rod and animal print lamp shades and rugs. You'll have to decide for yourself if you would call that "quaint" or "dated". read more

Love this motel. We try to time our driving to stay here when driving to and from CO. Very clean! The owners are extremely friendly and considerate. And it's reasonably priced. There is even a small refrigerator and microwave in the room.It's an easy on/off from the highway with a gas station right there. It's what staying in a motel used to be like before the big chains took over. We highly recommend Crest Motel. read more

Clean, safe , friendly! Stopped a little after 10:00 p.m. With no reservation. Got a room, checked in and asleep in no time. Left early in the morning so we did not get to try the continental breakfast. Easy parking and very close to gas and the outlet mall! They are doing lots of improvements too! This is very sweet hotel. I was traveling on I-80 and it was time to stop. I found the Crest Country Inn on my smart phone. It had good reviews. I stopped there instead of one of the chains.
