Staff is nice and kind I'll give em that but after my last review I felt I should update my ratings on this place. We came in at 5:30pm? Got a booth. Sat there and waited and waited and waited. Nobody came to ask us for drinks until after sitting there for 25 mins! I even checked my Life360 cause I couldn't believe it was almost half an hour til we got served after sitting down. Hostess was kind and apologized and said the waitress was in the back mingling. Lovely. The setting is usually always quiet and calm there. There was also another time my bf and I came in and he likes his steak medium rare. We got a blue steak instead lol it was super raw I have a pic of it as proof. I come to Bemidji several times a month for work, and have found the Perkins here to be terrible after eating here twice in the last few months. Both times, I waited patiently after walking in for someone to seat me. It took 5-10 minutes today, and there were only a couple of tables occupied. A young man finally walked out of the back. I told him I was by myself and he seated me without even asking much as a "Hello." It was almost like I was a bothering him. It took another 10-15 minutes for a waitress to appear. I was just about to walk out when I overheard what was likely a manager chew some workers out in the back for just "standing around." The waitress, a young teenager, asked if I wanted anything so I ordered both a drink and my food. She came back a few minutes later and asked if I wanted sausage or bacon. Not like she couldn't have asked when she took my order a few minutes earlier. Another couple was seated nearby a few minutes later, and they also waited a good while for anyone to take their drink or food order. The same waitress came back a few minutes later and asked to clarify the order. Obviously new, but little supervision or training had been provided. Paying was also frustrating. I waited at least five minutes at the counter to pay. I had to tap the counter a few times and ask if anyone was back there to get the same apathetic young man to come out and let me pay. Again, he said absolutely nothing. Zero engagement. I often eat at Perkins restaurants all over the state. I won't be back to the one in Bemidji. read more

Order food togo for after football practice. Food was burnt, meat was dried out and like rubber, broccoli was brown and burnt. They even flip it over so we did not see it. Covered in gravy so you would not be able to tell at first glance. I ordered a baked potato. They gave me Mash. When I said I did not order mash....she proceeded to argue. Took over 10 min to get a seat. We're maybe 8 people in the whole building. Took over an hour to get our food and when food finally came it's was not was advertised and was cold and really nasty. Disaster...do not bother going here. Sat down...20 minutes for a hello, 20 minutes later got water then 1hr 15 min later we walked out along with four other tables. A Saturday only had one cook and blamed the horrible wait and service on inability to find staff. This is Saturday Jan 15th the Bemidji State students have returned. I did speak regarding the two hours never to receive food and manager seemed to not care.I said we would Never return unless they could make this right and she didn't want to offer even a free muffin or cup of coffee. Loved in this town for 20 years been to Perkins at least 50 times but it is a disaster there. The manager has not tried that hard to find help. I talked with manager for 10 min giving ideas on how to find help. Kept seating when they knew the wait would be well over an hour. I am 60 yrs old and have NEVER walked out in any restaurant.Her standards are very low now. Waste of major time. Many hockey families visiting for tournaments walked out. Disgrace for this town absolutely no excuses for this. Manager said well this is just the way it is now and I pointed out three to four places including Country Kitchen next door is not experiencing the staff shortage.The manager and head weekend hostess both never once swept thru to back room so it is easy to forget your hungry families. Normally I don't expect much from a restaurant like this but when you order a meal and your meat comes cold, they give you something in the meal that you asked specifically not to have, didn't give you the right dressing and we had to go all the way back to the restaurant just to get it right but then they get it wrong again, I am thinking we will not be going there again. read more

Prompt service for lunch on a Monday. The bbq shredded chicken sandwich with onion tangles was delicious, as was the crunchy chicken salad. Drinks stayed filled and food came out quick too! This was the most terrible restaurant experience I have had in my life . Waited 25 minutes, while tables that came after us , got served before us . I finally had to go ask who our server was , one of the servers in our section walked by us many times and gave us dirty looks every time and served tables that came after us . I spoke with the manager dawn marie , who had excuses and didn't even know what servers covered which sections or she was trying to cover for the server . I am Native American and know I just dealt with racism and discrimination at its finest . Will never eat at this restaurant again. read more

First off, the food is very good. It was cooked to perfection, but the service was not the best... took us 10 minutes to get drinks. The waitress was very nice and respectful but wasn't very attentive to our group. Also the atmosphere. There were teens who were yelling across the table loud enough for us to hear them on the other side of the room. Tough to enjoy a meal and conversation with friends when you have to wear ear plugs to not hear people yelling. This visit we came at 8:53pm and they sat us right away but took others orders before ours and we didn't even get drinks for half an hour when they finally took our order at 9:40. Beyond disappointed and if me and my partner weren't hungry we were just going to leave. The late night appetizers are a good hit and when equipped the service is overall great If you ever need something they're right on it and try to keep you satisfied. Perkins is the place for teens to eat at night and some of us can be pretty loud but they've overall been great every time I've been there. Whenever I go there I like to get food and chat and sometimes that chatting will last well over 2 hours and I've never been rushed out even after I finish my food. I've only gone two times not at night so I'm not sure how they are during the day with service but they always get my food out fast. The food is good, nothing really special at all but I don't eat meat so I can't have most of the menu. Good place! read more

Overall terrible! I ate at this restaurant with some friends at around 10:45pm. We walk in to see the waiter sitting down in a booth with a customer. After standing around for 5-7 minutes the waiter finally yells at us from across the restaurant to grab our own menus and seat ourselves. After seating ourselves the waiter takes around 10 minutes to come take our drink order. Two friends ordered shakes, to which the waiter rolled his eyes and said, in a rude way, "of course." He did not write anything down so ended up forgetting a persons drink. Then waits another 5 minutes to have a coworker bring out the shakes. Another 10-15 minutes go by before he finally take our food order. When taking our order he pulls up a chair and sits down! Then, before we get the chance to talk he says, "so here's the deal, we're only doing appetizers right now because my cook doesn't really want to cook right now." We love past it and order different food than we were hoping for but at least we had ordered. After putting the order in he goes and sits back down with the same customer in the same booth as when we walked in. Meanwhile, there were 4 other dirty tables, with food still sitting on them, that he could have been clearing. When our food arrived it was all mixed up and the proportions were way off. We asked for boxes and our bills right away. We ate very little of our food before leaving and paying our bills. When handed our bills two out of five of them were wrong. None of us ended up tipping him and he rolled his eyes at us. He was very unprofessional, had terrible hygiene, and was overall very lazy. None of us are impressed and we will not be attending a Perkins for quite some time. read more

It's a Perkins! What else can you say? Like any other American food chain, there isn't anything that is going to knock your socks off. You can usually count on decent food though and an okay selection. The biggest thing with this place though is how hit and miss the staff is. The food I ordered was wrong, though they did offer a slight discount on my meal (a few dollars off the total). Only one server was working 10+ tables at about 6:30am breakfast rush. She was nowhere to be found. Ended up waiting for 4-5 minutes before the server came out of the back kitchen area so I could pay for my meal at the front register. I've never felt the need to leave a review anywhere until now. We arrived with a group on 10. It only took about ten minutes to get a table but once we were seated, we weren't even greeted by anyone for over 15 minutes. Multiple tables got sat and got their drinks before we were greeted. Our drink orders were eventually taken but at that point we put all our food orders in too. Only 3/10 of us ordered coffee, and none of us received a single drink for ANOTHER 20 minutes. She brought out coffee for every single person, and i had to tell her i didn't want to be charged for something i didn't order. Our waters came out at the same time as our food, and she neglected all the other fountain drinks and juices that we ordered. When she was carrying out our food, she dropped ranch on my friends head and water on a different friends back. Not once did she apologize. As a waitress myself, I understand exactly how the job worked and I am typically extremely lenient because I understand how difficult it can be, but this was unbelievably awful service. The amount of times our entire table was completely ignored is unacceptable. it takes a LOT for me to not leave a tip because serving is how i make a living, but this was by far the worst experience i've ever had at a restaurant. We sat there watching people who came in after us who were done eating and paid before we even got water. Once we got our food I think she sensed our frustration and gave us more attention, but I genuinely feel that we were just being ignored. read more

The "Heath cheesecake pie" was spoiled by the cinnamon-heavy crust and eternal-life fake cream that together left the supposed cheesecake just another layer of whipped shortening. If you are looking for burnt this would be the place to go. I would order an omelet with toast. looked grate until I turned it over and found the other side burnt black.
