We were happy to give The Tavern a try. What an absolute disappointment. Service was ok, but the food was terrible. We ordered boneless wings and shrimp tacos. Boneless wings were a chicken breast chunked up, deep fried and drizzled with barbeque sauce - what??? Just say you are out of wings versus this try! Shrimp tacos - the shrimp had a lingering fishy taste, like when you have had it in the fridge for a few days, the lettuce was literally brown and soupy. Despite it being super convenient - skip it!!! read more

Sat at the bar for a drink and dinner. There was a smell of dirty drains which was very distracting - making it hard to enjoy my beer and dinner. I ordered the fettuccine and it was soupy and not saucy, no flavor. Disappointing experience. The bartender was quiet and didn't make the experience great. read more

The place looks great. It's a light night and we walked right to our table. Disappointed that with two at the table one of the drink orders was incorrect, Pepsi vs ginger ale. The reason given was because they were out of bitters to make it? Why are they putting bitters in ginger ale? And it begs the question, What are they putting in the Old Fashioneds? My Alfredo was just above warm, the chicken on top was cold, but the other pasta dish was below room temperature and had to be sent back. We've seen six people serving about six tables on average through the hour. There was a gross lack of attention and we had to flag a bartender to get our check. We did get comped for the cold Chicken Bacon Mac but... Super disappointed as it looked so promising. read more

The Happy Hour was amazing. We came for the drinks, and then the dessert menu caught our eye. The cookie sundae was genuinely one of the best desserts I've ever had. The service was amazing, and the ambiance was lovely. The floors specifically looked incredibly for a restaurant of this type. No complaints! read more

We sat where we wanted, out on the Patio. Natalie, promptly took our drink order and served delicious libations on a beautiful sunny afternoon. Our afternoon choice was the Walleye fish sandwich and the deep fried stuffed mushrooms. We said we would be splitting the sandwich, they split it for us. Excellent food and excellent service. We went to the tavern (party of 4) and all ordered different items. Let me just tell you, this place needs work.... Literally. They are short staffed and the place is dusty and not to mention, dirty. I ordered their $30 steak which was the most expensive item on the limited menu at the time... it was supposed to be medium and it came out medium rare. The server went back to have it cooked more (steam indicated microwaved) after cutting into my steak I notice a small (what I presume to be) cockroach. I was offered to have it taken off the bill or something else. My fiancé ordered a pizza, it comes out on the same pan it's cooked on with no oven mitts (very hot) Overall, I was not impressed! read more

As described it looks great, but the food is not. Waitress delivered food, and Nacho meat cold. Sent back, got hot chips but wrong meat on chips. Not very tasty. Burger was dry and bun was old tasting. No offer of discount for lousy food and laughed at when I said the meat was not what I ordered. Too bad. read more

I have to say this is one of my favorite happy hour spots. They have been consistently good the last few times I have visited and we have had great service. I love the boneless wings and the stuffed mushrooms. You can't beat the 2 for one drinks and $5 off appetizers during happy hour 3-6 pm!!! read more

Been here multiple times specifically to watch sports games, every time we ask "Gishik" to put on a specific game for us and he makes us seem like we are a problem just for asking for the game to be turned on a specific TV in the bar. This has happened 4 times now. Won't be returning. Should never be an issue at a bar to request for a twins, Wild, Vikings, or college game to be turned on when we are paying patrons. read more

We stopped in on our way out of town for lunch with the kids. A great place for craft food and beer at a reasonable price. The steak salad was delicious. Great portion for the kids Mac and cheese, quality homemade ingredients ~ not from a box!!!! The burger was cooked perfectly. I gave it four stars due to the Bloody Mary being overly spiced and the walleye tacos having too much of a fishy taste. Plus the bathrooms were not very clean, and the floor under the table was incredibly sticky. Otherwise, the service was pretty decent, the wait staff seemed to work together as a team. No order to the customers waiting on a busy night. Many people were waiting their turn for over an hour. I guess it is just a free for all in there. Go eat early like 3 hours before a concert or don't go there at all. read more

My wife and I made a reservation for 16 (family and friends) for after the BSU hockey game. Upon arrival, the hostess informed us she had "accidentally" given our table away (we arrived 5 minutes early) and told us there was nothing she could do. Very poorly done!! read more

I have never had worse service at a restaurant. The atmosphere is fine but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. They are always out of different things and it's just embarrassing that management thinks they have any sort of customer satisfaction. I had an issue with my service (the bartenders were beyond rude for no good reason), and the manager did nothing about it. I didn't even end up staying because I was so upset by how the situation was handled. Not worth your time, money, or stress. Go literally anywhere else in Bemidji. read more

Terrible. Flies everywhere. Poor service and blah food. We were told to seat ourselves and half the tables were dirty, I mean half eaten food, drinks, sticky and gross. The table we sat at appeared clean but the floor was covered with food. Only 2 people working taking orders and no one seamed to be bussing tables. The flies got worse once our food arrived. Spent the meal eating with one hand and swatting away flies with the other. The food seemed left over, dry and flavorless. The plating is sloppy at best, looks nothing like their menu photos online. They didn't have things on the menu even though the menu is not extensive. It took an hour from sitting til we could get out the door and we left immediately after eating. Tables that were unbussed when we arrived we're still dirty when we left. I don't know how any of this is acceptable for anyone. read more

Didn't get any service until we chased a server down who was very rude. With an event at The Sanford Center they should have been prepared for a busy night but were not! Poor management. I walked in and no one was there to greet me so I had no idea whether I should seat myself or not. After I found a seat I ordered cheese curds to start the night and they were mediocre. Then my waiter didn't come back to take my order for about 20 mins, I wanted to leave but I was very tired after a long day so I didn't, bad decision, I should've left. My husband and I went to the Tavern for dinner. He ordered the rib-eye and I had the FIRE ROASTED STEAK PASTA. Both were alright, had to add lots of salt and pepper. Falls in the top 3 worst dining experiences I've ever had. We had a party of 6 and ordered steaks and pastas. HALF AN HOUR after ordering, the waiter came out to tell us they were out of the steak we ordered. AN HOUR after we sat down, we finally got 2 of our dishes. The shrimp scampi came out cold with no sauce whatsoever and only 4 pieces of shrimp. It had no flavor, basically only greasy noodles with a slice of pre-made frozen garlic toast. The smaller steaks that were brought out had a giant tendon through the middle and they had also run out of vegetables, with nothing substituted for it. Our $30 meal was awful. They told us when they brought the steak plates out about 10 minutes after the scampi. They completely forgot our salad. I have only sent 2 dishes back to the kitchen in my entire life. We sent the scampi back. We only ate a few bites of steak. The server didn't return for almost 20 minutes. We had had enough. We left hungry, wallets emptied, and pretty upset. We actually went to McDonald's up the road and had a better meal for $3. The tavern was very disappointing. read more

I am a travel nurse and I have come here several times throughout my contract. I truly love the good and the specials between 3-6. With that being said, tonight I had the chicken wings and ate all of them until the last one. I cut in half as I always do and there was a very long hair across my plate. i mentioned it to the waitress and she said "eww". I stated I was not going to finish that one. She walked aeay with my plate and I could hear laughing. now, is it possible my hair got in my plate and I didn't know it? Yes of course but she could have atleast tried to make it right. I surely wasn't looking for free food but she could've offered something l. Even though I would of declined she still should've been attentive to the customer. I didn't even finish my drink. I paid my bill and left a decent tip, got up and left. I will not go back through the rest of my stay. Makes me sad because I love (d) this place. read more

Seriously the worst service I have had EVER! They get done serving food at 9. We arrived at 8:15. We approached the bar and she told us to sit anywhere. We waited and waited. No drink order. No menus. About 30 minutes in my son went to try to talk to a waitress. He is 11. He followed her for about a minute saying "ma'am'" but she never turned around and acknowledged him. We continued to wait. About 9 she comes up to our table and says we need to order fast because the kitchen is about to close. I said we would love to order but we needed menus but we would be fast. She grabbed us menus and didn't bother taking our drink order. She never came back. Another gal from the kitchen was out delivering food and we stopped her and she reassured us that she would get someone to help us right away. No one came. It's almost 9:30 at this point and we approached the bar again only to be told we could order a frozen pizza. What??
