The burger was only 2.5/5 for the thin patty. Service was 2/5. But I really liked the way they presented the potato! 5/5

I've been to Perkins' many times before; but this visit was disappointing. Let me explain why: It turns out that the menu is really not that appealing if you're trying to watch your calorie intake. I had a very hard time choosing a healthy salad as there doesn't seem to be one that does not have breaded and fried proteins, or processed meats (which I generally try to avoid. Except I love certain salamis. Like I said, I try...) I had decided before arriving to order a salad with chicken on it. The only similar option on the menu had breaded and fried chicken. No thanks right now for KFC!! I love it more than it loves me. :-/ This visit, I chose the Turkey Cobb salad. Overall, not that impressive: not one kernel of corn, and although the bacon was real, it seemed the turkey was not - ie: processed. The avocados were perfect, though. Dressing is apparently always served on the side; good thing, as they give too much of it! As for the service, it was ok, nothing special. On the plus side, they did manage to make room for our party of 12 without much trouble. And our food orders all came out at the same time. Otherwise this experience would not garner a 3-star.

They have Strawberry Specials going on right now.

I had lunch here with some girlfriends today and overall it was pretty good. So Perkins is an American chain. It's reminiscent of Denny's to me. Portions are huge, which I appreciate, and prices are reasonable, which I also appreciate. Service is also very friendly and competent. I got the Cobb Salad ($15.49). Overall, it was good, but my big disappointment was that the turkey was deli meat :( On the menu it said "Butterball roasted turkey" so I was thinking like the Butterball turkey I have at Thanksgiving, but I was so sad that it was deli meat turkey! However, other than that, the salad was great. It had real mixed greens, not just romaine and iceberg, like at some places, in fact, it had no iceberg lettuce, hurray! It also had red cabbage, carrots, avocado, tomatoes, feta cheese, bacon, and a boiled egg. The avocado was fresh and green :) All the vegetables were in fact fresh. I got the white balsamic dressing on the side and it arrived as requested. Boy do they give you a lot of dressing. I used maybe a tenth of it. It was flavourful and I liked it, but I like my salad on the dry side. I considered getting one of their huge cookies (only $1.59) for dessert, but I was stuffed silly after my salad. This is not gourmet food, it's casual chain restaurant dining. For what it is, it is great. They serve breakfast all day, and the menu has variety, although you won't find anything too exotic or adventurous. It's very popular with the over 60 crowd for some reason. I felt very young there, haha. My last time at Perkins prior to today was in 2010, as I'm not usually a fan of chain restaurants, but one of my technologically-challenged friends took me there for lunch to thank me for helping her set up an online dating profile. Believe me, it is a sad state of affairs when I am considered the Tech Support (RAM - yeah that's a male sheep, but why are you yelling it at me? Lol). Anyway, she met her current husband through that dating site, so this is a feel good story all around. So 8 years later, we finally found ourselves back there, haha. If you're looking for good ol' American food with good ol' American portions, Perkins is the place ;)

Very friendly service, staff not engaged with customers were quick with a smile or hello. Portion size was large as you expect with the "American Breakfast" type of place. Our server was excellent and attentive. Food tasted great, only downside was it could have been warmer/hotter. I would have loved some grits! Solid 3+ stars, 4 if the food was hot

I normally love these old fashioned American diners like the now extinct Marie Callenders and Carrows but I can't say I was impressed with this one. First off, my tea tasted nasty. It was the hot or should I say lukewarm water that tasted really funky. That just says poor quality control or 'I just don't care', because I find it hard to believe that they're unaware of such foul tasting water. Lunch was a hamburger. It looked good but it was made with one of those cheap frozen patties and their fries are not worth the calories. My husband had a breakfast dish. The minuscule portion of bacon was paper thin (see pic) and the waffles cold. Our waiter couldn't have been any nicer or more efficient.

It wasn't too bad, the service was great, the bacon was the star of the dish, eggs were average, the hash, should of been seared more on the flat top and they should of added onions to it. I loved the fact they leave you a coffee pot on the table for you.

This is a popular alternative from your breakfast restaurant like Chez Cora's. Your typical meat and potatoes style food. This offers pancakes, (French) toasts, bacon, ham, eggs, etc...not a lot of fruits, healthy choices or vegan/gluten options. This extends too to their decor, not modern or fancy. Service is always attentive. Always packed each weekend morning at this St. Laurent location in Ottawa. They roll here. Good bang for your buck. Great for families! $$

It's a little like going home for dinner. This establishment doesn't try to be anything other than it is. When that's all you want then I'm glad that this place is still around. While the atmosphere is casual and diner-y, the food is pretty homegrown. Stuff you might find your Mom or Grandmother serving. Simple plain food. I like coming here for reasonable prices, edible food and the fact they will put a POT OF COFFEE on the table when you stumble in for breakfast. Which they serve all day!

Arrived at Perkins just before closing time (usually the restaurant is open 24/7 however things are different during COVID) in search of dessert. The guy who served us our coconut cream and apple caramel pies was awesome, and so were the pies. The coconut cream pie was almost like ice cream cake which I'm a fan of. The caramel apple pie was good but not as good as the coconut cream according to my parents who tried both pies, which I think may have been their way of nudging me to not try any of their caramel apple. Whatever, I'm more than happy with just this coconut cream pie. My family and I took our dessert home. Although Perkins is mostly known for its all-day breakfast food, they definitely hold up as a bakery.

Good food, good service. Came here twice on my trip. First time to Perkins as an American. It reminds me of Bob Evans.

Overall: A // 5 stars…read more There's no denying that this cafe is all about the aesthetics, and that's great because the eyes eat first and that shouldn't be by any means neglected. I ordered the Passionfruit Latte, which was an intriguing blend of tropical notes that was actually tasted through the strength of the espresso. I liked that even though the drink was simple, the aesthetic was not neglected from the dried citrus garnish to the perfect gradient of the cup. I really enjoyed all the floral decor in the cafe to help beautify it as well. Their brunch menu is massive and full of interesting items that I wish I had more stomach space to try; definitely in a future return! Do you like the colour pink? Do you like flowers? Do you like pink flowers? If yes, you will love…read morethis place, lol. It's a cafe and a flower shop, with flowers everywhere and everything is pink. Very Instagrammable decor. I was served by the loveliest barista. He said it was his 4th day on the job (I was there mid/late December 2023). He made me the tastiest Peaches and Cream Fog (not on the menu, but should be, lol). They use Sloan Teas and the Peaches and Cream flavour is peachy and creamy with a subtle hint of floral. It wasn't too sweet and I loved it. Their croissants are flakey and buttery. Their carrot cake is good too, although the icing is too sweet for my liking. Really cute cafe! Street parking or paid parking lot parking only, which is the norm for places in the Byward Market. I found the decaf Americano had too sour an aftertaste for me, but the orange chocolate chip cookie was good. The Long Version: I've heard of the Ottawa Bike Cafe and have been meaning to try it for some time now and have finally gotten around to it. My husband and I were on one of our "food and drink weekend adventures" where we go to a bunch of places that are new-to-us and get a little something to share at each place. Like a food crawl, lol. Anyway the Ottawa Bike Cafe was one of our stops. We got a medium decaf Americano ($3.70) and an Orange Chocolate Chip Cookie ($4). My husband liked the coffee and he rated it 4/5. He's more of a coffee connoisseur than I am, so his assessment on coffee is likely more trustworthy than mine, lol. I found the coffee bitter with too much of a sour aftertaste, but I'm one of those people who like flavoured syrup in my coffee (whereas my husband thinks flavoured coffee is gross and drinks his coffee black. We got the coffee black by the way). I enjoyed the Orange Chocolate Chip Cookie, although I only had a few small bites as the hubby ate most of it, haha. I liked that the orange flavour was noticeable. It was a nice twist on the traditional chocolate chip cookie. It was a bit too buttery for my preference and a tad too crumbly, but otherwise a pretty good cookie. Service was pleasant. The place was packed. Decor and ambiance I would describe as hipster cool. If you like popular places that are bustling, this is the place to be. I personally like quieter places with fewer people (although sadly this usually means that places I like don't always stick around). Our visit was in March. I imagine that this place is even busier in the summer. It's on the stretch of Sparks Street that is pedestrian only, so great for people watching if you sit by the window or on the patio during the warmer months when they have outdoor seating. Street parking only. Review #54 (2026)

Overall: A // 5 stars…read more I love the duality of this establishment with a full on bike shop, but also paired with intriguing speciality drinks such at the Blueberry Matcha Latte I ordered. The contrastive intensity of flavors from the rich bluebbery to the earthy matcha works incredibly well as neither element was watered down and held its own. Very impressive drink, would recommend.
