The ride was accompanied by a knowledgeable driver who provided us with a little bit of history. He also provided insights into the parks landmarks and filming locations (that was pretty cool)- Friends, John Wick, and Home Alone. Our driver was kind enough to take photos of us at different scenic spots! Prices generally range from $80 for 20-30 min rides or $150 for full-loop rides. It's totally worth it! It's such an awesome experience! Highly recommend it for anyone looking to tour Central Park in a fun and unique way!

We were lucky to have met Krikor on this private walking tour and found him to be a wonderful guide with a grip on history and tragedy. His music background is very fitting and all the more enriching on this tour in particular. He took us by way of the mercantile Dutch, German, Polish, Indian, Ukrainian, devout English and Native American followers and Jewish diaspora who have lived across 300 years worth of history of the LES. Krikor's Armenian and German heritage helps as he lived over 10 yrs in the neighborhood and knows it inside out. He invites you with him to visit the Farms (Bowery in Dutch) of what used to be the hinterlands of old NY when it was just a small enclave restricted only to Wall Street during the New Amsterdam Era. What you appreciate after the trip is over is the immense rich history comprising the LES from days gone by until Physical Graffiti, and Madonna! Be prepared for Godfather movie locations and the Aids Riots of the 80's. Dress Appropriately for an awesome walk down those down and trotted streets. Heels are ill advised.

Instead, they give an "augmented reality" audio tour which is kind of hit or miss. The house was preserved for the historical significance of the Townsend family, one of which was a spy for George Washington. I didn't feel there was a ton of information on the family though. Pointing their phone at the different objects in a room turned on audio about them, but only a couple of rooms in the actual house were interactive. The rest didn't have signs, and one loan employee was around to answer questions at the end. The exhibit in the visitor center was nice though. I just don't think the AR experience was really up to replacing a person, both in amount of information and the uncanny valley, unnerving portraits. There is street parking and a nearby lot that are free on weekends. The gift shop is minimal. It was an okay spot to visit, but I would recommend coming on Sunday or whenever they offer actual tours to get a more thorough understanding of the house and the history of the people who lived here.

That means that when you walk through the buildings, you scan the cell phone device on important paintings and artifacts and they talk to you with further information about who or what they are. The small building that contains the entrance is packed with paintings, dioramas, documents and artifacts. Next you walk to the main house, built in the 1730's, and housing the Townsend family. At the time of the Revolutionary War, Samuel had to make room for a British colonel. In spite of the fact that he sympathised with the patriots, he maintained good relations with his "Guest." At the time of the war, the house had eight rooms. One of his sons was one of the leaders of the Culpepper Spy Ring, Placing the home on the National Registry of Historic Places. Each room was elegantly decorated, with the exception of the space for the enslaved housekeeper. In spite of the fact that we didn't get a formal tour, the staff member tagged along with us and kept up a spirited conversation - even giving us a bonus look at the Victorian wing which doubled the size of the structure. My husband and I decided to go to Northfork for a few days and take a wine tour in mid-July. My…read morefriends had previously gone through Wine Tours New York in late June and recommended Tammy so we decided to book a tour with her. I emailed her to make a reservation for a Fri tour and she answered us back promptly. Tour booked. She picked us up on time and we visited several vineyards and wineries. She guided us through the tasting process making the experience more enjoyable. She had a nice rapport with the owners/staff at the various locations which allowed for us to take a personal tour with owners of their facilities. One of our favorites was Waters Crest. In between the tours Tammy brought us to lunch which helped invigorate us for the rest of the tour. At the end of the tour, Tammy drove us back to our accommodations. We bought several great bottles of wine and had a great time with Tammy. I was also recovering from ankle surgery while we took the tour and Tammy was so accommodating. She let us store my rental wheelchair in her vehicle while touring. She picked the best places to visit and luckily I didn't need it once. The crutches worked just fine. I would recommend Tammy of Wine Tours New York to anyone looking for a fun and interesting tour with a friendly and professional guide.

I spoke with Tammy a few times beforehand to confirm the additional elements that would make the day special and she came through for us! She greeted us at our hotel shortly before 11 am in the morning, and chauffeured us in a large Suburban and had cold water bottles for us before we even hit the first winery. At the first winery, she arranged to have both the white and red wine flights for us to sample and guided us through what we were drinking. At the conclusion of the first tasting, she took us on a walk though the vineyard where she had set up some furniture and some flowers for my girlfriend between two rows of grape vines. My girlfriend thought that we were intruding on someone else's space, so she was surprised she I popped the question right there! Tammy snapped a lot of pictures for us during the occasion and I was grateful that we had some privacy in the middle of the vineyard for the moment. I also learned that Tammy had dragged out her own furniture to the winery the day before to make the moment perfect. After the tasting at the first winery, we had a quiet lunch at a local Italian restaurant which was able to accommodate my girlfriend's gluten- and dairy-aversion. We proceeded to a couple of other great off-the-radar wineries to close out the day, and we bought a total of nine bottles of wine to take home by the time we were done. All in all, a great day, and a great way to tour the Northfork's wineries!

It feels odd writing a review for a cemetery, but I have been here a bunch of times, either as the…read moremain part of walking tours or as part of other walks, such as to Prospect Park, or otherwise at various times of the year. Side note, I am pretty sure it's free for solo people, but if you go with a large enough group, they have a $5 fee per person, which is reasonable. In general, I would recommend coming here in the fall, not just because the weather will be nicer, but also because the trees are beautiful, and winter is nice as well, due to the frozen lake, among other things. The spring is nice as well, but there are better places to see leaves in bloom, as there are more wintery shrubs here. The area is massive, and you could honestly spend many hours going to various corners. There are highlights such as a well-known view of the Statue of Liberty, many sculptures, and graves for people ranging from Samuel Morse to Boss Tweed to Leonard Bernstein to Louis Comfort Tiffany to Henry Chadwick, among others, along with many people from various wars, of course, such as the civil war with one particularly interesting grave having a confederate and union soldier next to each other for reasons. The place is particularly well-maintained compared to other cemeteries I have been to, with the entrance being striking among other things.
