I love supporting small businesses but the kid at the counter was more interested in talking with the local kids. Looks like a nice stop off 14 for coffee, latte, or sandwiches, however for Vegan or Vegetarian should not bother. NO VEGGIES. NONE. NOT EVEN A LEAF. Also bathroom for employees only, although they let us use it. So for food go a few doors down to Rustic cafe and Bakery. My kids and brother in law and kids got sandwiches here and said they were good FRESH MADE. but no veggies. Smell of cafe is not as yummy as Rustic Cafe. Just another typical coffee shop. If you know any thing about espresso skip this place, it's poor quality. It's not their fault when consumers' standards are set by Star Crooks. It's not the coffee that makes a good shot it's the skill of the baristia and the equipment that they are using. Sorry but I can't give this place a good review. Not enough choices. They seem to run out of a lot of things by 10:00 a.m. Salespersons with piercings everywhere and not professional so I cannot take clients here for meetings. I'm all about supporting local businesses but this place is too expensive to make it worth it. An $8.50 breakfast burrito that is basic egg, cheese, ONE slice of lunchmeat ham and a tortilla. Last time I was at the grocery store I could make 10 breakfast burritos for that price. It's disappointing. read more

Definitely the cutest spot to go take a break and enjoy a delicious treat. I have 1 client out this way and I ALWAYS stop here before my long journey back to the office. The staff is so friendly and always gives very good recommendations every time I come in and want to try something different. The people are nice. And the place is comfortable. But the product is lacking. First time I went, I ordered black coffee. It was really weak. Black water more so than actual coffee. Today I returned to get a caramel macchiato for the wife. The drink had two (2, as in one, two) ice cubes in it. And was "cool" at best. No where near "cold". I give two stars only because everyone was friendly. Probably the owners fault more so than the employees. They still have a chance to turn it around. If they would get their shit together. I'll try anything twice. And this place was a bad experience both times. read more

So I'm new in town, and I happen to be a coffee connoisseur. So my first thought was "hey, I should visit the local coffee shop and try everything there". So I started going to Perkin' Up and as soon as I walked in I felt greeted by the blonde girl and the brunette girl, I think their names are Emily and Catherine. They immediately said hello and asked what I would like today and were extremely friendly. Catherine made my drink, I ordered the caramel apple, it was berry good! Well the coffee was fine. Warm and friendly atmosphere? Uh No. if you have ever felt unwanted in a business perhaps you know in which the tone of the following event occurred. I stoped in and looked for some non dairy coffee options. The ladies at the counter were fine but I suppose the owners/ managers were sitting in the lounge area? When the barista informed that they were out of almond milk I could hear (sternly, as if I wasn't there) "Give them soy". Mind you I really didn't mind either and I expressed that any non-dairy choice would be fine, but the (owner?) voice continued by saying that it was expensive and didn't care about the establishment being low on an item. I paid an added fee (according to the price list) to have a non-dairy option. And as we all know, paying a premium for an alt milk item in your drink, the carton of soy or whatever is paid for price wise a few times over so what's the beef? And why do I have to hear it over my shoulder as a customer? Again, the ladies at the counter were nice but I can do without the attitude when I purchase my coffee. Perhaps she thought I wasn't a "local" worth friendly banter so referring to me in 3rd person may have seemed ok to her? It was not! And it was not appreciated. I was the only customer there at the time and not once did she look at me or acknowledge me as a person or a patron. I will make my coffee at home and I will be nicer to myself and my guests if I am out of almond milk. read more

This is the worst coffee shop I have ever been to in my life .... the first coffee tasted like straight syrup and after Erin said easy ice three times they refused to do it . Then I was polite and just took it and paid for another coffee which was even worse then the first . The sandwich took 20 min to make and was barely cooked and is now being thrown out along with the coffee . read more

This is the best little coffee house. This is hidden in a small town setting. Service is great and the people are wonderful. The food and coffee drinks are great. They also do alot for their community. This place is worth stopping if in antelope valley. Lattes are to die for. My son likes the ice cream and shakes. Better than Starbucks and worth the try. I truly love the ambiance. They serve hot sandwiches (a bit pricey) that's really good and they have a nice selection of smoothies (also pricey). Best of all it has a nice cozy feel to the place (dark wooden furniture and sink-in-and-read-a-book chairs). It doesn't have the frenetic feel of a Starbucks. HOWEVER, the coffee needs to get better!! It's worse than instant! The place has a new owner and I hope they get better quality coffee. If they fix the coffee issue I think this place is fantastic! read more
