Iced vanilla latte and cranberry orange muffin
    Alexis M.

Passed by this cute spot after hiking at the Vasquez Rocks and I just had to stop. Lots of parking available! Inside is so cute, lots of ranch themed decor and clothes. I got a candle which smells amazing. They also serve coffee, ice cream, sandwiches and pastries. I ordered an iced vanilla latte and an orange cranberry muffin. The latte was great! And the muffin was better than I thought it would be, super moist and flavorful. The staff were also super friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back!

My folks are regulars here as they're addicted to the soft served ice cream, so when my husband and I were visiting last weekend they had to take us here for an afternoon treat. This a super cute spot that's a coffee shop, ice cream shop, cafe, and retail shop all rolled into one space. There was a variety of seating options inside as well as comfortable benches and adirondack chairs outside. Whether you're shopping, grabbing a coffee/matcha, or bite to eat, you can be helped at the main counter inside to the right. Service was fairly friendly. The soft served ice cream was indeed good and came in a variety of sizes with option for cup, cake cone, or waffle cone. I opted for the twist in a waffle cone and really enjoyed it. I wish we had time to come back the next morning for coffee & matcha as both looked delicious; perhaps next time! I did end up purchasing a few items from the retail side as well because they had all sorts of cute apparel & home décor items as well as treats & items for your cat or dog. Super cute place! Would absolutely recommend to anyone who lives in Acton / Agua Dulce or anyone who finds themselves at Vasquez Rocks State Park!

Great little just 20 minutes outside the East side on Santa Clarita. We stopped in to check out the shop and get some coffee and eats. This is a family owned business. The owner greeted us and told us a bit about the store and cafe. He gave all the credit to his wife though. Smart man! There are a few tables and chairs inside and outside to enjoy your food. Many people were there working in their laptops. We ordered the avocado toast and a salad. We also both had an oat milk latte. The coffees were delightful. The avocado toast was one of the best we've ever had. And the apple and walnut salad was fresh and delicious. Most of the merchandise is western in theme. However there is a nice variety. We found this place towards the end of our day of exploring so we will be back to spend more time in the near future. Oh, I will definitely try the frozen custard next time. Many customers came in just to get it!

Their food is good. Down the road somewhere we ran across this Mercantile. Greeted with friendly faces and cheerful welcomes, me and my girl set to have a quick bite

A cute little country cafe in a remote area of the SCV. I wouldn't particularly venture out this way for the coffee, but for the experience. The barista was pretty and sweet, but my latte was mediocre. She happily remade a drink for me and brought it over to where I was sitting, which was so nice. They have little knickknacks for sale, but definitely pricey. Anyway, it was a warm and welcoming place to spend a gloomy morning with family after all the holiday madness.

This place is underrated! It certainly deserves more foot traffic. The barista at the counter concocted the best CHOCOLATE TEA for my mom and me--by our request. She was absolutely friendly about it, too. I highly suggest they put this drink on their menu, because she did such a great job with the flavor and sweetness level! For the tea option, we chose VANILLA TEA--then, we asked her to put more tea than hot/mocha chocolate; and for milk, we chose oatmilk. We preferred ours LESS MILKY, MORE TEA. We ordered it hot, but next time we're willing to try it over ice! Thank you, Eden!

Nice experience. Nothing to rave much about. Their cold brew was solid. My partner got her brown sugar Latte that she liked. It's a very small coffee shop in the mercantile shop. Service was helpful and quick with their drinks. would I come back here? I don't see why not.

My sister and I stopped by on a Saturday morning after we had hiked at Vasquez Ricks. It's about half mile from Vasquez Rocks. It's very easy to get to, plenty of parking and dog friendly. We walked in and they had a pastries, drinks and breakfast. I ordered a bacon egg and cheese croissant. We also ordered the avocado toast and a pretzel bread breakfast sandwich. My sister had matcha and I had strawberry lemonade. The sandwich was the best croissant sandwich I've ever had. It was a little pricey, but it was delicious and I will absolutely be back!

Me and my son are looking for some ice cream after riding their bikes in Santa Clarita decided to try this place out. Very friendly girls working in the counter. The ice cream was delicious and they have a lot of souvenirs to look through while you're waiting. Definitely recommend.

I really like this place! The Rustic Mercantile is a great place for your morning cup or breakfast. They have a good selection of things to eat on the menu and lots of choices for the coffee connoisseur . I had a latte and it was very good. Charlie was great to talk to and she made the whole experience great for our group. The store is decked out with a cowboy country feel with lots of swag and merch to keep you busy, while you wait for your order. They also have seating both inside and outside, with a beautiful outdoor patio area. The store and bathrooms are clean and parking is easy out front. I will be back to try some of the pastries or their ice cream.

Luscious bakery to go with your cappuccino or iced mocha. Cranberry scone is my favorite

What is the base milk they use? Whole milk or 2%?

They use both. I like to ask for 2% in my latte, but the default is whole milk, if you don't ask for a specific milk. They also have almond milk on request.

Keep in mind they close at 3. We have had many different breakfast plates, tuna melt, Ortega chill burgers, and the Chinese chicken salad. Let's start with breakfast. Huge portions, the best ham steak ever, thick and tender. The bacon is always crispy. Both the country potatoes and the hash browns are so flavorful. Oh and the biscuits and gravy are so yummy. Every burger, sandwich, and salad we've had have been delicious. The hardest part is fighting the desire to try something new because everything we have had we want again. Let's talk French fries. The French fries arrive like a small golden miracle -- crisp-edged, sunlit, audibly whispering as they spill onto the plate. They crackle when you touch them, release a sigh of steam when broken open, and taste like everything good about potatoes ever dreamed of becoming. Each one is salted with confidence, hot enough to make you impatient, perfect enough to forgive yourself for eating them all and not sharing The fries may be golden, but the staff is the real sparkle. What truly anchors this place is the people who work there. They greet you like they've been expecting you all day. They linger just long enough to ask how you're really doing. By the end of the meal, it feels less like you've been served and more like you've been cared for. Ray and Andrew served us today and I am remiss for not remembering all of the staff's names as everyone has treated us like familiar guests. The change of pace from the city was immediately noticeable--the open views, calm atmosphere, and small-town feel created the kind of ambience that makes you want to linger over coffee a little longer. I came in with one thing on my mind: a classic fried steak and eggs. When the plate arrived, it delivered exactly what you hope for from a hearty breakfast--crispy, golden breading on the steak, tender inside, paired with eggs cooked just right. It was comforting, satisfying, and full of flavor without being overly heavy. My girlfriend, who is expecting and arrived with a serious appetite, chose the Eggs Florentine. The dish was beautifully balanced: perfectly poached eggs resting over fresh spinach, topped with a smooth, rich hollandaise that tied everything together. The flavors were clean, fresh, and well executed. What stood out most was how fresh and flavorful everything tasted. Nothing felt rushed or overly processed, just well-prepared breakfast classics served in a setting that encourages you to relax and enjoy the moment. Between the delicious food and the peaceful scenery, the experience felt like a small escape from the everyday rush. A memorable breakfast spot in Agua Dulce. I'll definitely be making another stop here the next time I'm in the area.

###1. Customer Blamed for the Store's Own Operational Issues…read more I have been a Starbucks customer for over 30 years and have visited Starbucks hundreds of times over the years, as I often work from coffee shops. Unfortunately, my experiences at this newer location have been consistently disappointing because of one specific female barista (appearing to be in her late 20s to early 30s). As someone who relies heavily on drink customizations for accuracy, I prefer using mobile orders. When this store first opened, however, their system for handling mobile pickups and drive-thru integration was very disorganized. Nowadays at most Starbucks locations, mobile orders are organized alphabetically at the pickup counter, and if a customer arrives through the drive-thru, employees simply retrieve the prepared order and hand it to the customer at the window. This is now a very standard Starbucks process. However, when I placed a mobile order while sitting inside the store 6 months ago, she responded with visible frustration. She explained that if I ordered at the front counter instead, they could still prepare the drink the same way and apply stars and rewards there as well. The issue was not what she said, but how she said it. Her tone and facial expression felt irritated and hostile, as though the customer was the problem for expecting a standard Starbucks process. Because of that interaction, I avoided this location for nearly six months. Recently, I discovered that the store had finally adapted to a more organized mobile ordering system, allowing customers inside the café to pick up mobile orders properly. I was genuinely happy to return -- until today's experience happened. ### 2. A Reasonable Solution Was Ignored Today, I had to use the drive-thru because I did not have time to sit inside. Before ordering, I specifically asked the male employee taking my order whether I could apply my 25-Star discount to an iced espresso order. He confirmed that I could. However, when I reached the window, I was suddenly told that the discount could not be applied and that I would need to pay full price. To make the situation easier for everyone, I suggested a very simple solution: I would immediately place the order through the app so the stars could apply correctly, and they could simply hand me the espresso shots they had already prepared. After the employee went back inside, the same female barista from six months ago came to the window. She stated that I only had 25 stars and therefore no discount could be applied. I calmly explained the situation and showed her on my app that the discount had, in fact, applied successfully. But instead of handling the situation professionally or with flexibility, she responded with visible irritation. She eventually gave me the drink and said: "We'll cover it this time. You can use your reward next time." Ironically, this was the exact opposite of what she had told me six months earlier -- that stars and rewards could still be applied at the register instead of through mobile ordering. The issue was never about the $4.25 drink. It was about the attitude. The way it was handled felt less like customer service and more like I was being reluctantly given charity over a small misunderstanding caused by inconsistent communication within the store itself. After decades of supporting Starbucks, I found this experience surprisingly disrespectful. This review is not about getting something for free. It is about basic professionalism, hospitality, and how customers are treated. Sadly, this location no longer feels welcoming, and I do not plan to return.

They also have a cute little shop inside with snacks and gift options. I picked up some crackers and organic raspberry Red Vines, which was a fun little bonus. The downside for me was the tasting experience. Tastings are done at the counter, so we had to stand at the bar while tasting, even though there is plenty of beautiful seating throughout the property. There were three people working behind the bar. The two helpers were very kind, friendly, and seemed like they were learning the ropes. Unfortunately, the woman with the long black, curly/wavy hair seemed to be running the show, and her personality really put a damper on our experience. She came across as extremely cold and unwelcoming, and honestly looked like she didn't want to be there, girl looks miserable. We didn't stay after the tasting. I really like being able to relax and enjoy my time at a winery, and when the service feels unwelcoming, it takes away from the experience for me. I was there with two friends and was actually considering celebrating my birthday there, but I couldn't see myself spending more time in that atmosphere. So we decided to leave and head up the street to Reyes Winery...and honestly, I'm SO happy we did! If you're interested, head over to my Yelp and check out my review of Reyes Winery. This was my friends' and my first time at a French restaurant, so we were really excited to try something new. And honestly, the food was phenomenal! I tried escargot for the first time, and hands down, it ended up being one of my favorite dishes of the night! It was so good. I also ordered the mushroom soup, which was full of flavor and delicious. For my entrée, I ordered the swordfish, which came with puréed carrots and fresh-cut zucchini that was lightly stir-fried. The swordfish was a little drier than I expected, and I found myself adding salt throughout the meal, but overall, it was still a good dish. They also surprised me with a cheesecake for my birthday, which was such a sweet gesture! And that cheesecake was SO good...smooth, creamy, and the perfect little birthday treat. The décor is pretty minimal, but I actually liked that about it. It feels more like a beautiful, comfortable home than an overly decorated restaurant, which made the experience feel cozy. The service was also attentive and friendly. Our server was Natalia (I'm so sorry if I'm spelling her name wrong!), and she was very kind and sweet. We were happy with her service. The one downside was definitely the wait time for the food. Our reservation was at 5:30 PM, and we were seated right away, but dinner moved pretty slowly. Our timeline: * 5:30 -- Seated * 6:14 -- Escargot arrived * 6:30 -- Soup arrived * 7:00 -- Entrée arrived * 7:45 -- We left So just be prepared for this to be a long dinner experience. If you're looking for a quick meal, this probably isn't the place. But if you're okay taking your time, enjoying the atmosphere, and letting the meal unfold, I think it's worth experiencing. Then, our appetizers came out one after another, perfectly cooked and delicious. The charcuterie plate and stuffed mushrooms were my favorites. We then adjourned to our table for dinner. The atmosphere is so elegant and relaxing in the dining room, with wonderful views of native oaks. My trout almondine was perfectly cooked and the green salad was well-seasoned. We shared a chocolate soufflé which was a wonderful sweet conclusion to the meal. Because I had eaten so much at Happy Hour, I did take part of my meal home with me. You could do worse than making Happy Hour your dining destination alone! Service was universally wonderful. Our bar server was friendly and informative about the menu items; our table server was cordial and attentive. Free parking in the lot. La Chene is truly a neighborhood gem and a great place to celebrate a special occasion (or just Friday night!) Merci.
