I haven't eaten here for a while, the last time Here the food was not as good as I had remembered. The seafood soup I ordered was a bit more fishy than before. Flavor was a bit watered down. In a span of 1-2 months, we've returned at least 3 times! The menu is pretty expansive across breakfast, tacos, soups/salads, tortas, burritos and other wonderful delicacies that we have yet to try. We usually get the burritos: California burrito and Carne Asada Burrito. Both are packed generously and you have the option for green sauce or their red habanero salsas. Your meal comes with complementary chips/salsa if you dine in. I usually end up eating half and saving the rest for another time. I heat up the burrito on a skillet for some crispy edges and it's still so good! Husband loves their Agua Frescas. We've tried the watermelon, guava, passion fruit and mango, but his personal fave is watermelon. Some of these items are seasonal so ask what they have cause availability changes. Overall, a definite return! They also have taco specials on Tuesdays $1.75 and mini tacos Wednesday through Monday for $1.99. Sometimes I actually drive to The Taco Stand (across the street) and last minute realize Perla's is here, so I'll turn into this plaza instead haha plus the wait time and line at the other place is just insane. Back to reviewing Perla's.. food is always so good, they also provide free chips and salsa when you get food.. and THE CHIPS are SO GOOD!! It's like the thick kind you would find at Northgate, I could eat these chips with dips all day! The salsas aren't like what'd you get at a typical Mexican restaurant, I wish they had the standard red and green salsa but it's more chunky salsa that isn't as tasty in my opinion. I had to walk around the block after I parked to find it because it was on the side entrance from Charlinda. But the effort was worth it. I was rewarded for tasty tacos and a meaty lengua burrito I craved for. It is not a big place but it has 2 registers so the line moved quickly. It has tables both inside and out. I was tempted to grab a seat while I waited for my orders but they were taken. I was hoping grab a to go menu but they are not available. What I liked most about Perla is its authentic Mexican food. I was given chips and salsa with my orders and I like them very much. Buche taco was right on point and the lengua burrito was really tasty. I've been coming to Perla's for years on Taco Tuesday. The TT has always been a good value with the latest is $1.75 each. Recently I ordered 18 tacos and the total was a few cents under $50. This has been one of my favorite places, for years. The staff is always so kind and friendly. On my lat two visits, I recieved a carnitas burrito and about half of the meat was dry, and chewy, literally like leather. Its was the ends of the cut that was all dried out. I basically had to throw half the burrito away. On my next visit I told the staff about it, but they just smiled and didn't really do anything. Then yesterday, a Sunday, I ordered a Menudo to go. When I got home it was so salty I literally had to replace half of the soup with water and reboil it. It's sad to have the food quality go down so badly.
