I have been going here since senior year of high school, and this place probably has the best Mexican food around here where I live. Ever since I got my driver's license, I have been constantly going here every other week because I have been craving their food. I always order the asada burrito with extra beans and the price definitely matches the portions unlike Chipotle. They also give you chips for free, plus there's a salsa bar. This place always fills the burritos and makes it packed. After eating, the food makes me full and really satisfied in a good way unlike other places. I'm particular, but I've been on the hunt to find somewhere close to where I live and work that offers a good-tasting, high-quality white meat chicken breast burrito that doesn't cost $16-20+ and I have FINALLY found it here at LA Tia Tacos! For $10.75 you actually get a good-sized white meat chicken breast burrito, with rice, beans, onions, cilantro fillings AND they give you some chips AND they have an open salsa bar with condiments on the side! I could not be happier to finally find a spot to replace my previous favorite (Sharky's) which has been long gone from OC and is now only in LA unfortunately. I know why restaurants use cheap, poor quality dark meat but I don't know why people prefer dark meat over white meat. It's gross and does not taste any better and you get gross gooey bits. LA Tia uses clean, marinated, high quality chicken breast and it will make me a recurring customer! I've already been coming each week and as long as everything stays consistent, I will be a longtime customer. My only small critique, although not a complaint, is that it would be nice if theh could add a few more chips to their meals. Sometimes they are a bit sparse and it would be nice to get some more. Now let's compare this with the overrated and over hyped Crapotle. Here at La Tia, you get better quality meat, free chips and a salsa bar that actually has good tasting salsa varieties to choose from, whereas at Crapotle, you get cheaper, low quality dark meat gross chicken and you have to PAY extra for chips and salsa on the side and their salsa choices suck anyways. Altogether, you would pay more at Crapotle for less quality. If you're a real chicken lover who understands and appreciates the white meat superiority, this is the spot you should go to! I tried their birria special, and it was absolutely delicious--tender, flavorful, and exactly what I was hoping for. I was also excited to discover they serve margaritas, and they did not disappoint. Great food and great drinks are always a winning combination. What really stood out to me was the pricing. Even when it's not Taco Tuesday, the menu is very reasonably priced, which is becoming harder and harder to find these days. I had been seeing La Tia Tacos popping up here in South OC. Curiosity got the kids and I when we saw that they had birria. We have our go-to Mexican joints down here and typically stick to them, but recently had to add La Tia Tacos to our rotation. La Tia Tacos in Foothill Ranch, is in the town center's food court where Rubio's used to be. La Tia's is bright and airy, colorful and modern. The restaurant space has dining inside and outdoors in their own patio as well as the food court seating. There is an awesome salsa bar off to the side. The salsas and veggies are all home made from scratch. They're absolutely delicious. Refillable drinks are available at the soda fountain, some in bottles at the register too, but the star beverage for me is that fresh brewed tea. I have to get a large cup every time in case they start closing up and toss it out, which happened once. What we've ordered: 1) quesabirria tacos - 5/5. They have a special plate that comes with three quesabirrias and consome for $11.99. Add fresh chopped onions and cilantro, squeeze some lime, dip and enjoy. So good. 2) blackened shrimp taco - 5/5 3) carnitas taco - 5/5 4) la tia bowl with carnitas - 4/5. I liked everything about this but wasn't a really huge fan of the sauce. 5) la tia plate with carnitas - 5/5. I enjoyed this one. Comes with beans and rice. Perfect with the red onions and the marinated carrots from the salsa bar. Served with corn tortillas. The menu has a lot to offer and is bound to have something for everyone in your party. I got the 2 plate quesabirria tacos for 12.99. In the postmate description of the plate it doesn't mention that it comes with Conzome. So I ordered an extra Conzome for $3.99. Great deal for 3 tacos, and Conzome. I would give tacos 8.5 out of 10. I wish they had a teeny bit more cheese. But the meat was really good. Found this place driving through my old stomping grounds in Lake Forest. I am always looking for the best California Burritos in town and this place definitely hit the spot. For starters, the burrito is of moderate size, enough for me to eat 75% of and save the 25% for later. The California Burritos actually have sour cream and guac unlike other places where they make you pay extra. Also tried their quesobirria tacos which is TO DIE FOR. The consume is perfection and don't even get me started on their large horchata. Not chalky and watered down -- the perfect amount of sweetness. The loss of Rubio's was a sad one in terms of an option for Taco Tuesday that did things a little bit differently, but I am upset at myself for not having tried this place sooner. This is a legit taco joint in the least expected place of the Foothill Ranch Towne Center, and you wouldn't think it by the iconography, which feels rather modern. They make great use of space with the salsa bar that makes it easy for you to get as much as you want, with great variety and options even more than places that do it pretty well. It's a no-brainer to do Taco Tuesday, where for $2 each you can choose from your selection of your more typical classic options, so while it might be less than some that really have the wide variety of meats, you won't find yourself disappointed whether you're more into carne asada or al pastor and the chicken lovers have a great grilled chicken option as well. I've seen some reviews talking about wait times, but when I went, they were super fast and I got my food out and in my stomach in about the same amount of time they took to fulfill my order. That's how you know it's fast food. The breakfast burrito looks super tempting and I'm always looking to broaden my horizons on my search for the best breakfast burrito in the area, which normally comes from breakfast joints, but a taqueria is sure to do it amazingly as well. It's located in a outside food court area with other restaurants, you have the option of sitting inside or outside in the patio area. Authentic Mexican food found here! I tried their La Tia Chile Verde tacos and Birria tacos and both were delicious. Loved the spices and juiciness of both proteins. This is our designated Taco Tuesday place at work. As a guy who used to work in downtown LA and visits San Diego regularly, I've had my share of tacos and these are legitimately good. The ambiance is basic food court, but there is a fenced off area in front of the store which is nice. Now on Tuesday when you just don't want to think about what to order, get one of each taco and it's a fantastic $10 meal. Their salsas are also excellent and it's fun pairing them to your tacos. I don't know what they put in the yellow salsa but it has to be something addictive because I've been seen drinking it out of my take out container in the office, and the red mesa salsa is right there with it. The birria is also excellent, one of the best ones I've had in Los Angeles. Good birria for me has a depth to it and you can taste the spices in this one. I talked to one of the ladies and it sounds like they cater often and Birria is one of their big sellers, which makes a lot of sense. I bought some extra consomme last time and ended up drinking that in the office also... maybe I just enjoy drinking their sauces? Great spot, fantastic bang for your buck in the area. read more

Just opened in the Food Festival area of the Foothill Ranch Towne Center. Located in the former Rubios location. (There are no signs yet). Restaurant is very clean and inviting. Ordered the Birria Quesataco special and a Chile Verde Burrito to go. They really know how to package to go orders which is big plus to begin with. The Quesataco comes with a dipping consume that puts them over the top. Simply delicious! Have extra napkins on hand as this can be a little messy but sooo good. A small bite of the burrito was also delicious but had to be saved for later. The food here stands on its own and I believe they will do well. We will return. read more

Saw that this place is new and wanted to try out for lunch this week! I ordered online and it said it was ready within like 5 minutes, which then I had to drive up to get it. I walked in and no line for pick up, but the woman behind the counter was facing the kitchen and after a few minutes of not noticing I finally said something since my lunch was sitting right in front of me. I ordered the carne asada burrito and it came with some chips. The burrito was edible and the chips were stale. It was overly salted and too much of rice and beans in the burrito. WOW! My new favorite Mexican place. I honestly don't even eat Mexican much but this place is really good. They have this special called quesabirria and you can get 3 for $10.99 or 5 for $16.99. I ordered the 5 because I was starving. They give you a sample of the meat (beef) if you ask them. Apparently they cook it for 3-4 hours in a stew. It was SO GOOD! I never tried quesabirria before in my LIFE so this was a great experience. I didn't know you can dip tacos in a broth. It's like a French dip but for tacos . I've also tried their blackened fish burrito - SO GOOD. Definitely try that!! I've also tried their breakfast burrito ($9.50) which is a great price compared to everything else nowadays. It's rare to find anything under 10 bucks for food anymore. Also get the green sauce with the breakfast burrito- I can't remember the name. It pairs up SO WELL with it. A second location now here in Foothill Ranch. I really enjoyed the food in the original location in Mission Viejo and it's great to see that I have to drive even less now to have some delicious tacos. My personal favorites are the Quesabirria and Chile Verde tacos. I always get those two every time I go there but their other tacos are delicious as well. As far as sides I always get their Rice and Beans since it just goes well with the food here. Lastly their salsa bar is amazing since they have some delicious selections from mild to spicy. The place is very clean, bright and they have a nice salsa bar where you can help yourself to several varieties of fresh salsa, pickled onions and radish. All the items in the salsa bar looked very fresh and bright and in the 30 min we were there, I saw the woman working there refresh the items twice. We had several of their tacos which were reasonably priced around $3.25-$3.75 each, they are street taco size so 3 of them are good enough for a meal. We had birria, chicken and fish tacos- all were delicious and fresh. Our only issue was that the tortillas were the soft type but were partially fried so they were quite greasy. My son didn't mind because they were kind of soft but still with a bit of crunch. We ordered some tortilla chips and salsa which were quite underwhelming and also quite greasy but I didn't have high expectations given the price. . All in all, a decent spot for Mexican food on a budget. For 3 of us, our total was under $35 for 6 tacos, a burrito and chips with salsa. read more
