My daughter took her car in for an oil change as part of their opening in Elkhart. It was a great deal even if they did put the wrong oil filter on. They took the opportunity to notice that coolant in the reserve tank was just a little low which I had checked and was aware of. Ended up telling her she needed over $700 in repairs for her own safety and probably shouldn't drive it home. She called me in tears. I had her leave and I re-looked at it to see if I had missed anything. I could find nothing, but took it to our long-time repair place for them to check it out. They also could find nothing wrong. My daughter ended up driving the car another 40k miles and never had a coolant problem before getting rid of the car. I also overheard them totally bashing customers to each other. Took vehicle to have brakes done. We had to go back three different times and they could not get them right. Ended up having to pay another shop to finally fix them properly. They simply didn't replace all parts. One of the owners of Perry contacted us to say he personally did the last repair, although someone else's name was on the invoice as the tech. He was comfortable sending my wife and kids out in a mini van with inferior brake work. I wouldn't trust them. read more

My folks have had 2 very bad experiences in a row there and won't be going back! They went in for an oil change on their almost 4 year old van with less than 20k miles. They were told their tires were dry rotted and need new ones. Nope! Not true!! The time before last they tried to gouge them for something else that was verified to be a lie by another mechanic. The woman at the counter was extremely unprofessional (in looks and verbally) and also rude. None of us will be going back there. They were supposed to fix my car, ended up charging me a ton a not even fixing it. I took it somewhere else and they confirmed that the job was done wrong. It took me forever and to threaten to sue them to finally get my money back. Also, you take it in for an oil change and all of a sudden you will need to fix major things according to them. Make sure you price out everything they tell you is wrong with your vehicle. I heard them quote a customer 1000 for a brake job. They told me a whole list of things that are supposedly wring with my car. I have an electric rack and pinion they quoted me 486. I found one for 159.00. They are upcharging everything and recommending unnecessary repairs. read more

My windshield wipers randomly stopped working I was told it was a motor that would cost about 2000.00 to replace. Upon receiving a call that my Jeep was ready for pick I was told the airbag light was on. I told them it wasn't when I dropped it, I was at first called a liar and told it was and then the owner agreed it wasn't but he didn't have time to fix it. So my airbags were disabled he then tells me airbags are needed they are a redundant safety feature and I can drive without them. Well sir as a 15 year medical provider I can assure you airbags save lives. He disagreed. He then told me he's had the worst week in business and there's so many things he's like to call me. I told him I wouldn't be paying for the job until her fixed what he clearly damaged. He proceeded to be incredibly rude and told me that wouldn't work for him and he'd just hold my car. I said no that doesn't work for me. Well the story ends with him telling me it was a bad week for him to quit drinking and that I would need to take my car to his Elkhart job bc the better mechanic works there. Keep in mind the owner is the one that worked on my car. The Elkhart shop fixed my car within 15 min saying he knocked a wire loose. I then paid my bill as I said I would once he fixed the error he caused. Has the owner bothered to reach out with any form of apology for his terrible behavior, telling me I dan drive without my air bags or the inconvenience it caused me to have to take my car to another shop. One star because I can't leave zero stars. Their customer service is terrible, their service is extremely sub par. You should just hire a shade tree mechanic and set your expectations very low. You have been warned. I bought and paid for two alignments before needing them as a Black Friday special. Took my car in there to use it, and they told me until I completed front end work they would not perform said services I paid for. 2 years later I get the front end work done ( it was not needed at said time they recommended ) and drove another 50k miles the way it was. First review on google, second on BB, now here. I originally turned my car in for brake pads and to investigate a weird sound when sometimes shifting. I spent $1821.19 for break pads ($808.88), spark plugs ($176.62), and a fluid flush ($575.97), lug nuts which Perry Automotive broke ($83.97), and a $149 service charge. I got my car back around January 14th, 2022 and it instantly had a check engine light on that it didn't have when I turned it in. At first they wanted me to spend another $149 for them to look at the issue. They eventually took it in for free and found out it had a bad spark plug that broke the ignition coil. I went and picked my car up from Perry around January 19th. Now it is the 23rd and my car is completely out of engine coolant, and again has a check engine light on. To save you some money, bring your vehicle to another shop. This one either has techs who have no clue what they are doing, or they purposefully hurt your vehicle worse than what you turn it in as. Took my car in for an oil change. They stripped the plug and tried to tell me i needed an oil pan gasket. Took it to another garage and they tolds me there was nothing wrong with the gasket, just a stripped oil pan plug. Never had an oil leak before taking my car there. Also tried to get me to replace the shocks and struts as there were FOE. But we had just replaced all of those front and back 6 months ago.
