Had 6new tires put on at the Cleveland rd store 5/11/26 told me they would take care of everything, going down the road and front driver's side tire going flat so fast it pulls the truck into the on coming lane nearly hitting a motorcycle rider and ended up In the ditch the guy on the bike turns around comes back to see what happened. I get out of the truck look down in my front tire is completely flat after inspecting the tire. Nothing was wrong with the tire. Whoever put the HUD cap back on the truck, put it on over the valve stem after getting the HUD cap off we found that best one did not replace any of the valve stems. They just left the old ones on which is a complete hazard as we found out those maybe $.50 each easy to install. Nearly cost my life or the motorcycle guy his life. read more

We were driving to Michigan when we realized there was a hole in our tire. We were panicking and I Googled tire places near our location and called Zolman's in South Bend. Jason answered and could not have been more friendly, helpful, and reassuring. We were about 20 minutes away from their location on 4411 Quality Drive. They were going to be closing in about an hour, but took us right away. Every one of the employees were very friendly and helpful, and the store was super clean. We thought we were going to need a whole new tire, but they were able to patch up our tire and we were on our way in less than an hour. I really wish we had such a place in Chicago! read more

Usually we go to Bittersweet, but this time, we were recommended to take our SUV to the McKinley Store and speak with John Bauger. Great customer service. They actually take walk ins or will try to fit you in if it's a urgent issue with your vehicle. They work very efficiently and quick. I LOVE ZOLMAN TIRE. There is nothing worse than running into car trouble when you're busy. Zolman staff has accommodated me as a walk in with super short notice every time I've had an issue. When I bought my car (used), they checked all of the normal things for FREE just to help me out. I had my car towed to Zolman's Vaness location after my vehicle stopped running. My gas gauge read one half of a tank of gas. I was told I needed a fuel pump.It cost me $760. Upon return of my vehicle it was by chance that I wanted to fill up even though my fuel gauge read one half tank. The tank took 10 gallons which is my tank capacity. I contacted Zolman. I was sat down by the woman at the front desk in a separate room, like a child about to get scolded. Bad business attitude exuded from her. I got the run around and had to come back three separate times. They never made good on their warranty. I think the fuel pump was never changed and they simply put some gas in it. I'm waiting for my quick oil change, with free coffee, television, and pop corn, while I listen to the front desk offer a guy a way better deal than he could get anywhere else. As I sip my coffee and type this review thanks to the free WiFi and cell phone charging station, I get offered my choice of fresh off the grill hamburgers, hotdogs or chicken...whaaaaaaat?! The employee was so helpful and said we could run it in right then, knowing that the shop was closing for the weekend. Service was very quick. Absolutely fantastic experience at Zolman on Vaness!! I've had more car trouble than I should with some major issues including engine and transmission stuff. Aaron and Jennifer have both been incredibly helpful and honest throughout all my dealings with them. They have offered plenty of clearly explained advice, they have taken care of issues in a timely manner and always been very polite. What I appreciate even more is that they have been very honest about some transmission issues that they couldn't appropriately fix themselves and recommended options for repair. They looked at it and when it was something too specialized, they didn't try and create work to be done and charge me but rather have given me the info they found and pointed me in the right direction. I went it to get my tires and tire alignment checked on my recent car purchase. I talked to the men working the front desk and after hearing my car issues,they both thought that a free tire cross might fix the problem instead of a $80 alignment. I took them up on the offer and after the work was done, the car drove straight! This me and my fiances go to place for oil changes and minor mechanical issues for our cars. The guys at the front desk are very knowledgable and honest, which is a great help. I am used to California prices and this place is considerably cheaper but I imagine that relative to South Bend/Indiana they might not be the cheapest. As noted by other reviewers it is nice that this place is so nice to campus - you can drop you car off walk to school and pick it up after class. read more

I discovered today that I needed new tire ASAP. After calling around and having a defeating experience at another discount tire place, I found Zolman. I spoke with Aaron who was polite and helpful. When I went in, it was discovered that I actually needed 3 new tires badly. I didn't have much money and was near tears. Aaron figured out a way for me to get all the tires I need and afford it. I was so relieved and happy I wanted to hug him right there! I can't even tell you. They were so wonderful and wouldn't let me get back on the road with dangerous tires. I am so grateful! Zolman was my go-to-choice for car maintenance when I was a student at ND. Everything seemed to be fined -- a bit overpriced, but the location was great. SadIy, when I recently ordered a Carfax report for my vehicle, I discovered that someone at Zolman Tire had reported very wrong odometer reading, and it even triggered the odometer rollback fraud. This significantly affected the price of my vehicle, and I wish they could be more responsible for such reporting process. read more

Arrived in South Bend on a Friday evening & had 2 nails in passenger front tire! All tire stores were closed so I had to call stores in the morning! I spoke with Jennifer and she went out of her way to find the tire I needed as it was for a 4 month old VW Atlas! She got me straight in, and was even able to repair the defective tire! Charged us an outrageous amount ($800) to replace our daughter's G5 fuel lines (she was at UND and we are 4 hours away) and when I got the car home and up on the rack, I had to re-do the job that was thrown together with zip ties and with fuel lines scraping against the heat shield and other locations (didn't bother with the factory routing and keepers). Tried to stop by for an oil change but had to make an appointment for the next day. When I returned I was taken in 30 minutes early and was fixed up real quick. They suggested I rotate the tires (for free) and then told me I had an issue with a strut which they said I didn't have to fix right away but keep an eye on it. Really? Honest? I used this shop on multiple occasions while I was in grad school. Serpentine belt replaced, transmission fluid replaced, oil change, tire check, etc. The prices are posted on the wall, so I'm not sure why people think they are being overcharged. You can also find coupons online. Since they knew I was waiting for my car, the work was always done quickly (and they have a decent little waiting room with good chairs, outlets, and tv). I recommend them. I have also used the location on Edison, but I prefer this one. read more

This has been my "go-to" place for 20+ years. Tires and engine repairs. I have never had a problem with a bill. They go out of their way to tell me what to repair and what to wait on. They have a great service where they store snow tires over the winter, then it is very inexpensive to switch the tires out in the spring. They have never tried to upsell me on anything. In fact, the last time I bought tires they went out of their way to explain why I didn't need a more expensive option. One time I was repairing an older van and was expecting a big repair on the electrical system. It turns out it was rear taillight full of water and a fuse. No charge. Love these folks. read more

Zolman Tire saved us twice this winter by replacing two popped tires and fixing our alignment. The alignment prices were affordable and fair, and the second time we popped a tire (blame those terrible potholes on Douglas!) it was over the weekend and all places were closed. I contacted one of the owners (Nate) and we left our car overnight at the Vanness location and the tire was fixed first thing in the morning on Monday! My wife and I were on a cross country trip from Seattle to New York, and our check engine light came on. We didn't want to risk something bad happening in the middle of a drive, so we called Zolman on the phone (based on a friend's recommendation). The guy on the phone told us that its probably our gas cap that triggered the check engine light, and that if its not on tight, don't worry about coming in. First off, I've never had a mechanic diagnose a problem over the phone, and try and fix it, without us paying anything. Turns out that wasn't the problem, so we came in anyway, and they said that rather than them charging us $50+ we could go to AutoZone down the street to have them check what the car's computer recorded that triggered the check engine light for FREE. Wait - what? The mechanics want to SAVE US MONEY rather than spend money there? This makes no sense, but we took the advice, went to AutoZone, and found out the check engine issue was not serious. We went back to Zolman to thank them for the recommendation. So, we didn't have any actual service completed here, but the attitude of generous information sharing is unprecedented in my book. I will definitely head back there if I'm ever having car trouble in South Bend. read more

I've had good luck here in the past with basic oil changes and tire rotations (and even recommended them to other folks), but I won't bring my family's vehicles back--or recommend Zolman's services--after my latest experience. On a recent visit for a routine oil change and tire rotation the service technician noted an issue with the front sway bar link. They let me know, I authorized replacements, and by the end of the day I had my oil change and new front sway bar links for under $200. Fair enough. The technician, however, also recommended over $4700 (excluding tax) in other needed maintenance on my '05 Camry (99k miles), $2957 of which was deemed "important." Interestingly, during the courtesy inspection performed as part of the oil change by a different tech, at least one of these parts was deemed to be in good condition. I let them know I'd take the car and hold off on the recommended repairs, and decided to get a second opinion. Upon examination by a trusted local (non-chain), ASE certified mechanic, I was told all looked in good condition and, "sadly, it looks like they were trying to sell you a service you didn't really need yet." This mechanic knew I was more than willing to get the work done (and have him do it rather than Zolman's), yet this was still his advice--at no charge to me. I got under the lift and took a look myself, and there was no sign of the leaking hydraulic fluid from the strut in question. And, to add insult to injury, I had to tighten up the grease fittings on the newly installed links, as they were left inaccessible for greasing (facing upward and toward the front of the car) and untightened. One last note worth keeping in mind (and which might help explain this whole fiasco): As I was waiting to drop off my keys for the service, I could observe on the front desk a detailed breakdown of sales numbers/work per technician in dollar amounts. Put otherwise, there's little doubt Zolman's is incentivizing the upsell, even if it's not in the customer's best interest. My own experience is a case in point. read more
