I've heard wonderful things about Dr Mansfields skills as an ENT surgeon. But I have given up on trying to receive his services because of his horrible, horrible incompetent & unreachable staff. My experience began in Feb. After my first initial appointment which I somehow received after several attempts of contact ... including emailing Eric to finally get a returned call. I made it very, very clear to the technician diagnosing my sinuses - I could not do a sinus surgery until after June. They said fine, but I should do a (very expensive) CT scan and a sleep study in the mean time. I did the CT scan, foolishly. Afterward, I received many calls from Vicki in surgery who apparently was not informed of this fact regarding my timeline. I explained this to her-so I thought and said we would talk in June. ... Both the CT and sleep study required insurance approval. The CT after much of my own policing of the staff was eventually approved ... 50% coverage because it was out of network... (which I did not find out until later.) However, the task of the sleep study approval went off to some unnamed nurse which the staff-themselves said they could not reach. ... (The staff never got back to me about this mystery nurse ... and while I waited, I ended up simply getting a sleep study done at Scripps. ...) (I never told Mansfield's staff about this; namely because they haven't reached out to update me on their progress on their end. ... ever. It was always me trying to reach them.) But by all this time, I'd already racked up a $1,000 bill. And July came around... after weeks of trying to reach Vicki in surgery, I finally received a returned call ... she seemed chastened by my persistence... and she informed me my CT scan on my sinuses had to "redone" because it was too old now in order to do the surgery. ... She said she would look into insurance approval of a second CT. This was in July and I have not heard back. Today before writing this review I decided to try one final effort; calling all three of Mansfield's appointment lines ~4pm on a weekday- (general appointments, scans, and surgery). Dr. Mansfield is the best in the business. I had a unique situation that required the coordination of many specialties and other surgeons, but he led my "pre-op team." Not only did he ensure that I was in the best hands every step of the way, but I ALWAYS felt heard when I brought a symptom to his attention, and he never once discounted anything I said. Pre-op, he went over everything in great detail several times. Post-op, I received the exact same care and dedication to my recovery. I'm genuinely amazed and grateful. Even his front desk assistant Erik, surgical coordinator Vicki, and PA Annette uphold the quality of his care. I will never forget my experience with any of them. read more

I called the office and they told me they would not see me because thought my insurance would not cover it without permission. They said they would call and sort it out for me and give me a call back, never got the call back, so I called back a few minutes before they closed, and the same women answer telling me to hold that she was with another patient, then passed it to someone else and that person told me that they are closed now I would have to call tomorrow. I skipped the headache call and went straight over to their office to be told I would have to wait almost a month just for them to check my ear for an evaluation. They could of told me this from the start instead they had me waist my time. read more

Mansfield was uniquely qualified for the type of surgery I needed. As soon as my wife and I met and consulted with Dr. Mansfield, I had confidence in him. The results were fantastic. I am so grateful I found Mansfield. Everyone that has any contact with him (from the janitors, all the way up to his doctor peers) has a great regard for him. This guy is the total package. I was referred to Dr. Mansfield by my PCP. I was impressed with the modern layout and clean facilities at the SENTA clinic. The staff were extremely polite and caring. Moreover, I felt immediately at ease with Dr. Mansfield's expertise and excellent communication skills. I had a very complex problem with one of my parathyroid glands that had apparently existed for over 4 years (my PTH and Calcium levels had been very high). In addition, over twenty years ago, I had a thyroidectomy. A prior Nuclear Medicine (NM) Parathyroid w/SPECT/CT scan about 4 years ago failed to show any problems with my parathyroid glands. Under the care of Dr. Mansfield I had an MRI and a new NM Parathyroid & w/SPECT/CT scan. The MRI was inclusive and new scan showed a possible, ill defined, parathyroid adenoma on the left side of my neck. Dr. Mansfield was not satisfied with these results and said he needed more evidence of the location of the bad parathyroid. So, he ordered an ultrasound study of my neck. The ultrasound once again showed a possible left side parathyroid adenoma. This provided sufficient evidence for Dr. Mansfield to proceed with surgery. Thankfully, the surgery went very well. Dr. Mansfield found and removed the diseased parathyroid and within minutes my PTH level reduced significantly. And, my Calcium levels are now well within the normal range. My sincere thanks to Dr. Mansfield for performing a difficult and life-altering surgery on me. read more

i had a tumor. the size of a plum. in my head. he took it out. i remember a time when i smoked cigarettes. i would breathe smoke out my nose. but it only came out of one nostril. i thought it was some cute allergy thing. i was wrong. one doctor made it sound like it was an easy outpatient surgery that i could do at any time. he was wrong. some time went by. went and got it checked again. it wasn't as easy as the first guy thought. so much, that i was told to see Dr. Mansfield. for reals. it makes good practice to get a second, or even a third opinion. where do i start? for one, he has this overwhelming sense of confidence that makes you feel secure and at ease; you just know that you're in capable hands. he's got this gangster-like quality to him. i named my tumor morton. morton had decided to attach to my left eye, and was about to creep into this crevice that lead into my ear. it was growing in a highly sensitive (or did he say critical) area, and the potential for damage was up there. i was told there was a possibility of me having double vision afterwards because they'd have to remove the tumor from my eyes nerve endings. they also thought that i'd need a blood transfusion due to the blood loss. neither was the case. no blood transfusion, and no double vision. waking up with catheter did suck though. it was supposed to be a 5 1/2 hour surgery. he did in 5. holler. they must've done a number on my face, because they had to reconstruct my nose. my insurance was fighting them on it because they considered it "cosmetic." they eventually got them to concede. bastards. they cut out my cheek bone, then screwed it back on, and the rest--as they say--is history. you ever see that movie face off where they take of that guys face....yeah. this must be why girls don't talk to me T_T so if you ever meet me in person and i spit on you while i'm talking. don't get mad, it's only because they had to saw through my upper gum line, and i can't feel it anymore. i don't ever take simple things like breathing for granted. i don't even know why i'm writing this. i don't think anyone reads my ish anyways. b00bs. bewbies. pr0nz. pewpewpew. read more

I had an appointment to remove a mucocele on my lip that was bothering me for some time. Dr. Mansfield removed it succussfully and I've had no other issues with it. If that were the end of the story, I would be giving a much higher rating. - The time I had to wait to see Dr. Mansfield each time I had an appointment was excruciating. At least twice I waited OVER AN HOUR combined in the waiting room and in the examination room (after my appointment time) to be seen by Dr. Mansfield. - After I had my mucocele removed, I complained about a clicking jaw problem I've had, and asked Dr. Mansfield if he could refer me to someone to take care of it. We did a CT scan on my head that showed I had a fairly large polyp/mucocele that was growing next to my nose, and a deviated right septum. The polyp was starting to change the shape of my upper palette, showing It had been growing there for some time. When we discovered it, Dr. Mansfield advised me, in a very serious tone, that if "I were his son" he would strongly advise me to take care of this polyp right away. In order to do a biopsy and remove it, he said the procedure is usually to go through the nose, and since I had a deviated septum, this might not be possible, and the doctor was strongly pushing that I do a procedure to repair the deviated septum. If anyone is unaware, repairing a deviated septum is a painful process, and it takes about 6 weeks to fully recover. This would be extremely inconvenient for me at this time in my life, and I explained that to Dr. Mansfield, but he continued to say that this type of procedure never comes around during a convenient time, and he continued to support it. I smelled something fishy going on so I got an opinion with a second doctor who looked at my scan, and did a procedure where he stuck a camera up my nose to look at my deviated septum. The second doctor said I indeed had a deviated right septum, but it wasn't necessary to operate on. Also, the doctor said the thing growing next to my nose was a benign mucocele that is fairly common. In and out, no more worries, and no unnecessary surgery. The 2nd doctor prescribed me some nasal spray to relieve congestion that was a little more pronounced because of the deviated septum. I'm sure Dr. Mansfield is a competent doctor and surgeon, but the way he recommended and strongly urged me to seriously consider unnecessary surgery was quite disconcerting. read more

Several years ago I had felt a pea-sized tumor in my tongue, and after googling this became very concerned (was never a smoker). After researching who to see, I decided to go to Dr Perry Mansfield who really listened and assured me that I had no risk factors and it was most likely a benign lipoma. Made an appointment for a biopsy on my tongue, and during this slightly awkward process Dr Mansfield spoke to me, calming me down, and a short time later said he was actually able to remove the entire tumor. Confirmed it was indeed a benign lipoma too. I should add that at my initial appointment, Dr Mansfield felt around my neck and also correctly diagnosed that I have a deviated septum and that problem combined with my neck structure contributed to sleep apnea (which I didn't know I had!) Absolutely the best Doctor I have had the pleasure of knowing. He performed a very difficult Thyroidectomy on me with amazing success. I am a high risk surgical patient with Congestive Heart Failure. Medication side effects caused my Thyroid to go haywire. My thyroid was subsequently very hard and fibrous requiring the utmost surgical skill and precision to keep the nerves to my vocal chords in tact. Dr. Mansfield is a 5 Star Doctor. After consulting with multiple ENT specialists, every one of them referred me to Dr. Mansfield for his surgical expertise. I went to see Dr. Mansfield for a gum issue. He was very thorough but abrupt and rude. I later had some questions and sent an email. I then received a call from a clerk in his office asking where I got the email address and she did not have any medical background to answer my questions. I waited two weeks and made several calls-never received a call back. I cancelled my next appt and am now going to a new Dr. I did finally receive a letter dated November 14th-stating it was sent certified but it certainly was not and the envelope is dated December 1st. I work in the medical industry and if you really want to know how good a physician is, talk with the nurses and doctors that work with him or her. Dr. Mansfield has an outstanding reputation with his peers and is viewed as one of the best surgeons in his specialty in the state. I felt very lucky that he was my surgeon. WOW!!!!! i LOVE THIS DOCTOR!!!!!!! He saved my life!!! I had a tumor in my head and neck as big as a grapefruit, he didn't get it all, and I still have problems, but I'm still alive!!!
