There are some who care, but the majority know it is hard to get help and it shows in their attitude. Most of the nurses feel it is beneath them to help a resident get to the bathroom, and since there are not enough aides, you could wait 40 minutes for help. If you have someone there, it is important to be there with them for the majority of the day, or they will not be helped. The staff is overworked and resentful. My husband was there for 12 weeks and by the end he was begging me to get him out of there.

What most people need to realize, is the importance of building a relationship with the staff caring for your loved one. It is a team effort. This is a care facility. They cannot and should not be expected to give private duty nursing services. It is unrealistic for any facility to be expected to do this. You have to be willing to reach out to the staff and work with them. Come to them with concerns, but also realize a thank you goes a long way when you do this very hard work. I can't begin to thank the staff for the care dad received especially during his final days. I stayed with my dad to care for him and make sure he knew he was not alone. I believe that was my honor and duty, but this staff cared for me as well as my dad. The concern for my well being touched me to my core. I will not forget the compassion my father and I received by all the staff. The flower arrangement that was sent to the funeral home was so beautiful and very appreciated. Staff who became friends were there at the funeral home to support me and my family. Their concern did not stop as dad was taken from the facility. If you are looking for a facility to "team care" for your loved one, stop looking, the Lakes of Sylvania should be strongly considered. I will only refer folks to this facility.

The director, the nurses, the physical therapists, the chef, the cleaning department and various departments ALL provided the best of care possible. The communication which existed between Lakes of Sylvania and her family was also tremendous. Each day an updated Covid report was to be found in my email and a weekly video was posted to inform all families members of the events of the week. I was able the connect in person with the staff whenever I so desired. My dear one got the BEST of care and compassion from everyone within the walls of Lakes of Sylvania. I would give this campus my highest recomendation. I owe them my deepest gratitude.

I could list all the reasons but there isn't enough space here. The nursing staff honestly does not care about the patients and wants to do the bare minimum or less. Due to the last minute need of finding a rehab for my mother, this was the only place available. My family is frantically trying to find a new rehab but the good places have a waiting list. I'm just trying to keep my mom alive long enough so we can get her transferred-that's how bad it is. It's a shame this place has such bad nursing care because everyone in rehab seems to be great. However if my mom's basic daily needs aren't being met, then rehab isn't going to be effective. I wish I could leave a negative amount of stars.

We were fortunate for our Mom to land here for a rehab stay after hospitalization and hope she will…read morere-join the community once a space was available. This is the best format for senior living. Each house holds just 10 residents in 10 bedrooms, split between 2 hallways on either side of a central common area with dining space, living area, and an enormous kitchen where staff prepares meals and residents may use space, also. Each bedroom is private with en suite bathroom equipped with a walk in shower. Facility provides twin bed, sitting chair, side table, and dresser. There is space to personalize as well. We plan to add 2 sitting chairs for guests and a larger dresser. There is a large closet, between 5-6' wide. Laundry is done on a schedule and not mixed so chance if items missing is very low. Nurse is available, aids are assigned on shifts and are very capable and friendly. The center publishes activity calendar including social outings and shopping trips. There is a hair salon and manicures and pedicures can be scheduled.
