According to my mom, everyone was very nice to her. She also really liked the food! (I saw it for myself and it looked amazing... not typical hospital food!!) The staff members were very caring and provided me with detailed feedback for times my family or I were unable to visit. The doctor on the floor was very flexible in his ability to visit and provide feedback on my mom's needs. My mom's discharge hasn't been as smooth as we 'd like, but we're glad she's home. We're now transitioning with the Ohioans Home Health, so that's a whole other review! Happy my mom's home! UPDATE: My mom received notification from BCBS Michigan that this hospital (St V's) will no longer be included in her network (Really?!!!) but that they would cover her expenses this time.(Thank God for that!) . What is going on with healthcare these days?!! Rant over, but really?!

Dr Blair Grubb , MD.is the best Neuro-cardiologist ever! Don't get me wrong, because I adore…read more"Harry", the pacemaker guy, too! Another wonderful "Dr" in the house, there in Toledo, or U of T; is Beverly K. (& she as a whole lot of letters after her name too!)! These 3 are my favorite people of all time, in my world of Dr's & health Centers!! ...but for all intensive purposes, today I want to focus on the great staff and my favorites at the Cardiology/EPS/Neuro-Cardiology Dept at Univ of Toledo Medical Center! It's a scary thing when you have a metal device in your chest, called a "Cardiac pacemaker"! It keeps me alive, for the most part! Its now doing 60% of the work, for my heart! So I just might not always be excited to be there....and even less excited to wait for the day when they say " its time for surgery! Your pacemaker is getting old and you need a new one!" That's what they said to me this last visit, just a few weeks ago! First, I saw Harry, ad he checked my pacemaker! He was telling e that it's getting old and probably this Summer I'd need a new one! Before he finished talking he was testing my pacemaker out & he warned me that he was going to turn it off just for a second, to show me how it will feel if it ever fails on its own before it's replaced. I turned strangely colored and got ill in a flash! He put it right back on and said I'd need my new one sooner than later! He spoke to Dr Grubb and we spoke with "Beverly" the nurse practitioner/dr.'s assistant, Before we knew it, I was scheduled for a surgery with anesthesia and the whole thing!.....and t's only a month from now! Another nurse came in with lab slips and explained what needed explaining..Dr Grubb himself popped in ad talked to me and geez...what other great Dr would come into the room and actually TALK with me at a level I can understand?! Dr Grubb was wonderful and caring, kind and very patient, without EVER RUSHING me!!! Beverly came back and asked me if I Had any other questions and Harry did too! They were great,as they always are at the UNIV OF TOLEDO CARDIOLOGY DEPT! They always take their time with me and I never mind if I have to wait a little while...because I know when they're with me, they'll also take all the time I'll need!

This review is based on the end of February and beginning of March. My mom was there for roughly…read morethree weeks for bypass surgery and has asked me to write this review. I was also there almost daily visiting. Almost all of the nurses were extremely wonderful (specifically McKenzie), except for Debra (African-American/40s) who was rude, lazy, had no bedside manner, and just didn't want to do anything. Dr. DiBardino and his staff were wonderful. Because he was the only surgeon, he was busy, but I felt he took the time to explain things. I have to assume dietary is short-staffed. They messed up quite a bit. They came during lunch time to take the lunch order. They frequently forgot items or brought the wrong thing. They also made a big deal out of changing orders. However, Liz danced her way into rooms and was just a genuine pleasure to see in the hospital. I have to assume housekeeping is also short-staffed. Housekeeping was practically non-existent on the weekends, I saw one woman one time. My mom's room had no paper towels, so I searched the visitor's bathroom, which was also empty. I asked a staff member if she had any and the entire floor happened to be out. They left the toilet brush on my mom's sink. The garbage had been full since Thursday and wasn't taken until Sunday. Basically, they didn't really come around and when they did, they didn't do much. The medication list wasn't filled out when she was discharged, so she had to call back later to verify what they had given her and when; the woman who answered said this wasn't the first time the discharge papers weren't filled out for patients. A minor inconvenience, but it should have been done. The coffee shop when you first walked in was always closed because of staffing issues. I had to go across the road for coffee and food, but that shop too, had one employee handling everything because of staffing issues, so there was a bit of a wait. TL:DR: Good: NURSES!!! (EXCLUDING DEBRA) Bad: Housekeeping, Dietary (EXCLUDING LIZ), Coffee Shop

If you are unfamiliar with hospital food you may want to reconsider your preconceived notions. These whipped potatoes are very similar to mashed potatoes in that may have originated as a potato and serve delightfully as a no frills substitute, trust me you will wish you had more or something else. The Pot roast is very consistently cooked and brown and serves a a fat free protein that complements the whipped potatoes. With a bit a brown gravy you will have a beautiful rainbow of earth tones for your taste buds. To continue with our brown theme and also saving the best for last, I suggest dipping a chocolate chip cookie into the what has now become soft serve ice cream, it will soften up the cookie and create something like an MRE ice cream sandwich. You may think this might give you acid reflux, no worries they will prescribe something for that. Grapes. I also had grapes. Tomorrow I plan on trying the lamb stew with mint pesto

I am always impressed by how personable and caring they are. Lab services, pharmacy and radiology(c-ray, CT, MRI) are right in the premises. There is also an outpatient surgery facility. They also post the prices of those departments and the prices are LOWER than having the same thing done at local hospitals. There are 3 buildings at Secor Road location, connected by hallways. The buildings are not new but they are maintained. There are large parking areas around each building, and they recently added a free valet parking service for impaired patients who need to exit right at the door of a building. I plan to go here whenever possible for my medical care.
