Definitely take advantage of their promotions when you can! I came in to get a conch and flat…read morepiercing and took the option to be paired with an apprentice piercer at a super low service fee which also included basic jewelry and free anodization! The apprentice is supervised by a senior piercer, in my case the shop owner, and it was a great experience. We went slow and had an easy paced consultation making sure the placement was just right and would also meet the kind of jewelry I wanted. They were happy to change and mark placement multiple times until I was satisfied and the owner was happy. All in, I paid $90 for both piercings including jewelry plus a tip. They are also make sure to go over aftercare prior to and after getting pierced to make sure you are aware of how involved the healing and care process will be.

For some reason Google Reviews isn't displaying my review from the summer so I'm cross-posting it…read morehere: I just moved to MN and wanted a new piercing for my birthday. Fraidy Cats came HIGHLY recommended by a friend who has been going to the owner Jamie for a decade now. I have 15+ piercings so this is not new territory for me. The same friend called the studio in the morning to check in with Jamie. Two of us wanted two new piercings, not one, and she said one appointment slot per person would be ok. We also let her know we had our own jewelry and she said it would have to be processed. She instructed us to book three back to back appointments with the same piercer online so we did just that and reserved an hour and a half time between the three of us (4pm-5:30pm). We arrived on time (3:58pm to be exact) and Jamie told us that she "messed up" the schedule and needed to help someone else first, but the staff came over to take care of us so it was fine. Our group of three proceeded to complete paperwork and a very lengthy after-care presentation. We were just following the staff's instructions so we figured we were still on schedule. Jamie joined us and called us by they/them pronouns by default which seemed thoughtful. She asked where we bought our jewelry from since it needs to be high quality. She went back and forth between the lobby where we were and her office on the other side of the wall to google the names of the studios where we said we bought the jewelry. Not sure if that's the best way to verify jewelry quality but ok. This was when things went south. Jamie said there was now only enough time for one of us to get pierced with jewelry that we brought and that there was no longer time for two of us to get two piercings each and that we would have to come back a different day. So we let my other friend who was visiting from out of state have that slot. I asked Jamie to process my jewelry alongside my friend's jewelry because I had a feeling there would be enough time for me. She reluctantly agreed and guess what? There was enough time -- my piercing was completed at 5:22pm. The piercer who did my tragus was kind, professional and personable. Unfortunately things didn't go as planned. Immediately after putting in the jewelry, she told me that it was slightly off and asked me to check the mirror. I calmly said that I didn't like it and asked that we remove it. She said ok but had to notify Jamie first. Jamie stormed in and was completely on the defense, saying things like, "This is a great piercing" and "It looks great to ME." I stayed quiet nearly the entire time. I struggle with social anxiety and standing up for myself, so the last thing I wanted to do was defend myself and start crying. All I was able to say was, "This isn't the placement I agreed to and I want it removed." Jamie removed the jewelry from my ear and explained to the piercer how it was at the wrong angle, while still not validating my decision to have it removed or apologizing for her piercer's lack of proper training. She also didn't do anything to stop the blood from pooling inside my ear and then raised her voice at me when I tried sitting up to prevent blood from going down my ear canal. The piercer tried helping me and Jamie started barking at her asking if there was blood on her floors (there wasn't). Thankfully Jamie left the room shortly after. When we left, Jamie didn't come out to ask how I was doing or say goodbye to my friend who, again, has been going to her for years and consistently refers people to her studio. I went back shortly after we left to ask for my deposit to be refunded since no one had mentioned it at any point. A staff member went to Jamie's office to ask and said that Jamie would take care of it within a few days. At this point it was clear that Jamie had no intention of seeing us out or following up on my experience. Again, this review has absolutely nothing to do with my botched piercing. These things happen. The problem is the way I was treated by Jamie. She had more respect for my pronouns than my well-being. Also I received my refund AFTER this review was posted on Google.

Well I'd like to start off by saying that I am only here to share my opinions about the experience…read moreI had at A+ Tattoo in Hastings, Minnesota. You may have had a better experience than I did, but this is mine. I felt good going into this tattoo appointment based on the communication I had prior to my appointment with the owner. He seemed nice, knowledgeable, and excited to do my tattoo. With 25 years experience, I felt confident that I was in good hands. I asked him what his hourly rate was and he said he was going to just bid this job. It was $450 and he justified the price because of all the detail work. I agreed and figured it would take him around 3.5 - 4 hours. The tattoo only took him a total of 2 hours, needle to skin time, and I felt like he was rushing towards the end. That's $225 per hour. For that price, I expect and demand perfection from someone who has been tattooing for 25 years. At the end of the appointment, he said I would have to come back for touch ups. That all sounded great at the time. As it started to heal, I began to notice a few things. Here's what I noticed... 1. In my tattoo, there are 2 birds among various other things. One of the birds has no beak and the other one has no tail. The wings are more rounded and didn't show the detailed feather tips like the photo I provided him with. 2. The lettering is all over the place. Some straight up and down, some slanted, and different size letters in the same word. Not at all what I wanted. I feel I should mention that I was perfectly still while getting the tattoo and never flinched or moved around to cause any of the irregularities. 3. The Negative lettering he did was done so small and poorly, it all blended together over the first couple of months and you were unable to read the word. 4. The circles that were supposed to be in the tattoo turned out to be oval. The numbers on the clock are different sizes and the time on the clock is different from the one I specifically asked for. 5. The detail work just wasn't there. Not that I'm an expert, but when straight lines are curved and circles look oval, that is just unacceptable for $225 per hour from someone with 25 years experience. I couldn't be more disappointed with my $450 investment. 6. The red color he used almost looked pink when it finally healed. I wish he would have used a darker red like the one in the photo I provided him with. Before I noticed all of this, I was trying to talk to him about my next tattoo. I e-mailed him at least 3 times with no reply. I stopped down a couple of times, and when I finally got a minute of his time (a small break from the person he was tattooing), he claimed he never received any e-mails from me. I told him I wanted to schedule a consultation to talk about my next tattoo, and he told me to just come back sometime and it would be "hit or miss" if he was available. I thought that was highly unprofessional and could not believe he wouldn't schedule a consultation appointment (a blessing in disguise). I have better things to do than continually stop by to see if he can squeeze me in for a consultation. That's just not the way I would choose to do business. After a few weeks and noticing the above mentioned items, I lost all confidence that he could actually fix any of this mess. He seems like a very nice person, but when someone boasts about winning all these awards for his work, you need to be able to deliver. It was very disappointing to see my end result. I get that nobody's perfect, but I could barely stand to look at my tattoo without getting upset. There was NO WAY I was going back to this guy for "touch ups". After it was fully healed and some time had gone by, I was referred to an incredible artist that was able to do touchups and save the tattoo. It took her an additional 2 hours to try and fix all of the areas that were poorly done. That cost me an additional $250. So this tattoo has cost me $700, but I absolutely LOVE it now!!! I know that art is subjective, but I'm telling you, this tattoo looked terrible when the owner of A+ Tattoo finished up with it and it healed. You might think I should have given him an opportunity to do the touchups, but based on what paid for, what I got, and the unprofessionalism I experienced, I just didn't feel comfortable going back to A+ Tattoo. It's really as simple as that. So that was my experience with the owner of A+ Tattoo in Hastings, Minnesota. It wasn't a good one for me, but it has lead me to an incredibly talented tattoo artist who does amazing work. I'm not here to plug another shop, but she's great. I would also like to mention that several months have gone by since my experience with A+ Tattoo. This is not just a knee jerk reaction review. I have taken time to calm down and put some thought into this review. I honestly don't know what else I could have done to make this a better experience.
