First, I'm a guy with very bad OCD (a perfectionist when it comes to hair), so having the hair style that you want is very important to me (as it is for many people). I found this place almost 5 years ago after the girl I had coming over to my home to do my hair moved 2 hrs awayI Now, for almost 5 years I have used the same person at Personal Touch EVERY time, her name is Chan, she's very soft spoken and she does exactly as I have asked. My hair very fast growing and I'be had her do my hair while it was quite long and when my job closed and I was job hunting, I have had her do my hair much shorter and she always does a GREAT JOB!!! I'm currently 56 yrs old and for some reason my hair has naturally changed, it has winged out, it has curled in spots not expected and other scenarios and Chan always listens to the issues I'm dealing with and how I would like it done. Then I will usually say, "you're the expert, not me, you know what I'm looking for and I'll let you do your thing" and she has never disappointed me! (I'm very picky about my hair, so hard for me to let anyone touch it) I'm so glad that I found Chan as my hair stylist! I won't go anywhere else!!! I have seen a wide range of customers, from women getting a wide range of styles done for all age groups, to young kids, to men in their retirement years. The other customers I have seen over the past 4 to 5 years always seem happy or at least content with what they had done, for me I've always have been thrilled. Also, not really needed for me, but I do hear many other stylists in Personal Touch speaking fluent Spanish if that's your language. This place is currently in the Stop & Shop Newburgh Towne Center off of Route 300 (it was formerly in Newburgh Mall up until earlier in 2024). I believe they open 6 days a week at 10am, they're open Sundays too, but I believe it's 11am (not sure if I'm correct but I believe so) As long as Chan is at this establishment, it will Always be 5 Stars in my opinion! Chan's the Best! If there's anything negative to say, if they're closed and you want to call and leave a message like, you want to make an appointment or that you'll be stopping by, it's almost impossible to leave a message. The answering machine will say, "if you would like to leave a message for anyone, to enter their phone number", so unless you know it, you can't leave a message, but that's the only negative I have. read more

I've been taking my boys there for a few haircuts and we usually see the same woman. I believe her name is Chan. We went in the other day but she wasn't available so we let someone else cut their hair. This is what happened to my sons hair. I recommend waiting for your preferred stylist if they're busy. Don't take a chance on someone you don't know. read more

If I could make it 0 stars I would. I have very short hair and just needed a quick trim. I walked in and sat down waiting my turn. 20 min go by and another customer walks in and they just take him with no appointment. I let it slide because possibly they did not realize I was waiting. Another person walked in and they did the same thing. I am now there 45 min and I explained my frustration. They said I would be next and when finally someone was free they would not take me because they had an appointment they were waiting for. Same goes for the other 2 woman there. So my less then 2 min haircut and 45 min into waiting I just walked out and stated i was not coming back. Now I need to find a new place to go to. There is no organization at this place and no sense of urgency or proper business conduct. read more

I had an haircut from a russian woman I think name Ela or Ala sloppy job and at the end she ask me 3 times for a tip.....Tip for what????? Avoid a place like this is not worth a fake penny especially that woman. After I ear from a friend that the same woman did a super sloppy job by ruing her dress with the hair colors.... not even a " Sorry" but she again ask for a tip. Just purchased a retail beauty product and the sales person very lack luster. Either she did not want to be there or she just sucks at customer service. The item was never bagged and after I signed the receipt and handed her the pen she let the pen fall to the desk then retrieve it. Needless to say I shall purchase my Moroccan oil products elsewhere in the future. read more

Went to Personal Touch where my sister-in-law goes to and for half the price had my hair cut beautifully by Michelle and haven't gone elsewhere since. I started going to a woman here a few months ago... I won't give her name because I still have some respect left. But, she ruined my hair... for a long time, if not permanently. A little back story, I have naturally brown hair and I wanted to go lighter. My previous hair dresser of 12 years had been doing highlights gradually so I don't ruin my hair with bleach, which was fine with me. My previous hair dresser had been unavailable for awhile so I started going to PT because I heard a good recommendation about this one woman. She started doing my hair with foils and bleach... full head.. for three hours every time. My hair has slowly begun to break and fry. The most recent time (a little over a week ago), she decided she was going to make me platinum blonde... not okay with me. Long story short... when the foils came out and she blew out my hair.. I turned around and my hair was white. As white as you can possibly go. Now, as a 25 year old, single girl living in NYC... you can imagine how devastating this is. I politely told her... "my hair is white". She insisted that it wasn't white, it was platinum blonde and that she loved it. After a few tears, she tried to fix it by adding some toner. The next thing I know, my hair is a musty, mousey gray. I left crying... after she made me pay for it. Then I went to my mom's hair dresser, who attempted to fix it. The first thing she did was run a hairbrush through my hair lightly, and about 1/3 of my hair either broke off or fell out. She managed to fix the color but there was nothing she could do about how thing, fried and frail it is now. Two days later I was going away on a vacation with a big group of family and friends. All week, I had to be cautious of everything I did because my hair was so fragile and I could lose all of it if I brushed it too hard or styled it too much. I didn't take a single picture on vacation because I was so embarrassed. People were thinking that I was sick because my hair was so thin and uneven. It is now two weeks later and I am on all of these vitamins and spraying all these products and hair thickeners in my hair. My mom's hair dresser believes that my hair will make a full recovery in about 10 months. I highly recommend you go somewhere else if you want to do anything to your hair other than a simple cut. Shocked and pretty upset the way I was treated yesterday August 20th 2015 around 6:30pm I went in looking for a simple trim no wash no blow out no color ur basic 5min hair cut.. There was a Spanish lady sitting at her station drinking coffee playing with her phone or looking at her nails I'm not sure but u the lady at the front desk had asked her if she felt like doing a quick cut and her responds in front of me was ( no she lookes picky ) I thought she was kidding around in till the girl asked again and she responded the same way saying ( nope I don't feel like it ) she was the only one on the shift that didn't have any appointments at the time so they laughed it off in my face and told me I could come back at 7:30 I told them I didn't have the time and the shrugged their shoulders and sent me to the other salon on the other side of the mall...
