Regardless of how you feel about Peron, the food here speaks for itself. I've found complexity in their flavours that I haven't quite experiences in the average Argentinian cuisine. To start, the empanadas are absolutely delicious and I highly recommend them. The menu otherwise was quite rich. We got the Milanesa, and the Ossobuco on polenta. I found the Milanesa to be a touch on the greasier side than I am used to, but it was delicious! And the Ossobuco on polenta was quite rich, especially with the bone marrow - I had a hard time finishing this, but I highly recommend it. The portions are quite large, so sharing dishes is probably not a bad idea. I am also pleasantly surprised by the cocktail scene of Argentina, especially Buenos Aires! There was a spicy version of a Negroni on the menu that the staff warned me about but I kind of took it as "they probably mean it's a strong drink" But NOPE - it is actually spicy! As a spice lover this was really interesting, but not for everyone. The ambiance of the dining area was quite interesting with photographs and memorabilia. If I had one little advice for the restaurant, maybe fix up the bathrooms a little bit. The theme and ambiance here is unmatched. You can see from the name of the restaurant to all the interior decorations they love the Perón family. The empanadas were absolutely delicious. Perfectly cooked and learned from a friend you're supposed to give the empanadas a light shake to get all the inner juices going. The meat and cheese empanada was my favourite. Ordered the ossobuco (one of their recommended dishes) as my main and it did not disappoint! You cannot get this quality for this price anywhere in the US. A place for tourists and Peronistas. Where the food is abundant, the decor nostalgic and the staff political. Tshirts, menu items, murals and tons of references to Juan Domingo Peron. At one point the Marcha peronista blasts out and some like myself mouth the words to a song that has become sinónimo with Buenos Aires. Pricey but not for tourists at all. We enjoyed our experience at Peron Peron RestoBar. We came here during lunch time (American standards) and clearly we were alone because Argentines eat at different times compared to Americans lol. This is totally fine because we had the place to ourselves. The place is decorated in all sorts of Eva Peron memorabilia and photos which was super cool - the reason why I wanted to come here because I like Eva Peron. The empanada was awesome so definitely get that! We also ordered milanesa and some time of steak in sauce with polenta. Wow the portions here are large so it is definitely a family style so try to share! A legendary in Buenos Aires, highly recommend you to check it out while you visit: it might seem a bit touristy because it's the only place dedicated to the Peron family, there are a lot of pictures of both of them. There are also a lot of writings on the wall you can look, most of them are peoples opinions in different languages The food on the other hand, wow, it's amazing. And amazingly cheap. Don't be surprised that your bill came out so little, the waiter said it's normal price the Palermo are tourist price this is what real Buenos Aires people can afford. I had Osobuco Braseado (veal shank) for $12 or if you exchange money it's basically half price. The portion is huge, i had one dish was super full. The meat falls off the bone, and so juicy and flavorful. It's a must have dish Service was great I was the only one at 7pm because I eat early. Reservations are recommended but we came early, before 8pm on a Thursday, and had no issue being seated without reservations. This place was made known to me through Bourdain and I am sure glad I gave this place a try. Excellent service, excellent meal. The restaurant is casual yet wonderfully decorated with Evita art. We started off with their fresh bread with a cilantro aioli. I actually am not a fan of the bread in Buenos Aires but this was an exception. Super soft on the inside and slightly crisp on the outside. Flavoring was great! Pair it with the aioli and you can't stop eating! Entrees: Empanadas - Personally I think it was the best empanadas I had in Buenos Aires. We tried one of each including cheese, carne and osso bucco. The crust was super flakey, hot. The stuffing of the empanada were just as delicious. The whole combination was really good, both in texture and flavor. Paku - Fish relative of the piranha. It was a delicious white fish. The fillet is huge and for 500 pesos, it was well worth it. It easily could be shared between 4 people. It came with arugula and roasted potatoes. The fish itself was tender with rock salt on top of it which was great! Tasted very fresh, no fishy taste. Osso Bucco - The lamb was fall off the bone on a cloud of mashed potatoes. Meat was nicely seasoned and mashed potatoes had a good taste to it too. I wasn't sure if we got the right dish because it seemed everyone got the lamb shank but regardless, still a great choice. This local spot is a fantastic addition to any Buenos Aires stay. The ambiance is really fun with pictures lining the walls including many with the Peróns. This place and its connection to the Peróns is also accented by the political Perón song that comes on occasionally, usually leading to a lot of chanting throughout the restaurant. This is definitely a fun and unique vibe to experience during the stay. I recommend looking up the history of the Peróns to understand & connect to the place even more. As for the food, this was one of the best sets of meat I had during my visit to Buenos Aires. They also had incredible hearty portions too. This place proves that Argentinian restaurants can indeed satisfy a gluten-free pescetarian! We started by sharing the artichoke tortilla, which was so good! It almost seemed like an artichoke frittata. For the main course, I ordered the pacu fish, which was a huge portion that I was able to share. It came with potatoes and some tomatoes stuffed with capers. I also ate some of the sweet potatoes that accompanied the dish that my friends ordered and they were so good! As for the dessert...all dietary rules went out the window when I saw the flan. It has sea salted dulce de leite and a creamy whipped cream and it is divine! I said I was 'having only one bite'. That was impossible. The ambiance here is so cool. It is fun and hip and people are just having a blast. It is loud but not overwhelming. Loud enough to get you in the mood to do something lively after dinner. It is fun to be let in on the little traditions that the bar has, like banging on the table when the Peronism anthem comes on. The owner/head chef came and chatted with us and is so friendly and awesome. He really attempts to create a friendship with his customers, and it is noticeable and appreciated :) Great wine list! I think this was my favorite restaurant in all of BA! You cannot leave the city without trying this place at least once for dinner, TRUST ME! The food was your typical Argentine cuisine, but more comfort food-esk. We started with the empanadas which were very small but AMAZING - I wish we had gotten 100 of them, literally. I wanted to take them home to America with me but I was talked out of it (still wish I did). For mains, we got the ossobucco with the polenta, and the pastel de bondiola y batata. WOW everything was amazing I couldn't stop talking about the food for the entire trip. The vibe at the restaurant is also awesome. It is decorated really cool, and is a tribute to the former president and his wife, Peron and Peron. Every now and then the entire restaurant and bar stops and sings this chant to the president, and it is really fun and exciting. Definitely an awesome restaurant, both in food an in environment. Even if you aren't a Peron fan, come in here to gawk at the eccentric collection of Peron memorabilia collected by the owner and catered to by the chef, offering menu items in Peron themes. The empanadas are the Southern crispier fried versions with a collection of different ingredients to chose from. The three cheese, beef and chicken and of course the obligatory vegetable option. I am not a huge meat fan, but the osso bucco option was quite delicious with such a generous portion I barely finished a third of it and I was already full. Make sure you come early to get a table or call in advanced for a reservation. If you are a quick and early eater, there's space for you between 7-10pm. My only gripe is that all the reviews said they do not accept credit cards, so I busted my butt trying to find an ATM to get cash late at night. But when I finally got to the restaurant, a table of foreigners paid by card! So bring cash, but if you don't have any, their credit card machine will probably magically work again. read more

First of all when you look at the Yelp page of this establishment the main picture is so unappealing - bunch of people drinking and posing for a photo. This restaurant now has a vibe of a drink hole. I bookmarked this page two years ago but always chose other places over this one because of this damn picture. Finally today I decided to give it a try. Walked in at 8:15pm, few tables are occupied. I ordered : - osso bucco empanada - lamb shank with mashed potatoes - small carafe of house wine I wanted the lentil stew, but they were out. But it did read pretty delicious: pork belly, chorizo, jamon... Anyway my empanada was pretty good. I liked that it was smaller than regular size so you still can enjoy your meal and not feel stuffed. The lamb shank was a lot! But tasted good; meat was falling off the bone. The atmosphere is very warm, feels like this place has grown into its shoes. It's not a designer venue, it's someone's heart here. Solid, heavy, wooden furniture. Candlelight. The atmosphere is very chill until they play the peronista anthem that turns everyone into a passionate chant. The food is beyond amazing. I started with an osobuco empanada that was delish, followed by pastel de papa (mashed potatoes filled with all kinds of meats) and finally flan with dulce de levee for dessert. To die for! Average food and service so poor that it is almost laughable. The skirt steak was so salty I couldn't eat it. The empanadas are highly rated but only OK, there are much better ones available close by. The staff whilst we were there, from 7-8pm seemed more concerned about preparing for the guests that had yet to arrive than those currently seated. They were rushing around the place preparing tables whilst ignoring people at tables. It wasn't just us, the couple next to us patiently waited approx 20mins to get their bill. We asked for wine that never arrived, and couldn't get any attention to repeat the request. We asked for the bill and one member of staff shouted at another to get it, we had to ask again 15mins later. When it arrived 10mins after that we were pointedly told that the tip wasn't included, it certainly wasn't earned. read more

I am Soo tired of shitty South American service and this was the only place that gave me the best service I had ever experienced in South America. I would 100 percent recommend the empanadas. I tried the lamb and the cow stomach both were tender, juicy and delicious. For my entree I got the cow leg braised for 6 hours over polenta and it was to die for. This plate was the most expensive entree on the menu and it was 185 pesos or $14.00 U.S. Dollars. I cannot recommend this place enough. Best place in BA to eat so far during this trip!! read more

ROACHES! If you dislike roaches you should not eat here. Our waiter was very nice and moved us to another table once she realized that there were roaches. Two small ones crawled on our table. Worst part, It wasn't only that, sadly, as the ambiance of the place is quite nice. We ordered something from their menu and they "ran out", so we had to change our order. We ordered pork and although it had flavor the cut was all fat and chewy. Then our waiter spilled water all over my husband's jeans and they still charged for it, cherry on top. What a wonderful little find! We are from the U.S. and used Yelp to check out a few restaurants in our Airbnb neighborhood, but didn't really choose one specifically. So we headed out (in the pouring down rain). I wanted to stop at the first one we saw, but hubby said we should tough it out to get to Peron Peron. Boy was I glad we did! The place is dark and candlelit (note: the chairs are mostly very low and at 47/53 we were the oldest folks in the joint). There are pictures and notes about Eva Perón lining the walls. At one point a song came on and everyone in the place started singing! They only had one server who spoke much English (my Spanish is barely passable but he insisted on helping us in English). He attended to our every need. We took the waiter's suggestion (I wish I remembered his name!) and I had the Osso Buco, my husband had the steak and we shared a delicious Malbec (is there any other kind in Argentina??). All of this for $520 pesos! It was SO MUCH food and all of it was SUPERB. We got there at 8:30, which is on the early side for BsAs, so by 10pm when we left the place was packed. I would recommend going early (especially if you are from the U.S. and you are used to eating earlier). This was a wonderful place with kind, attentive service. Tasty stews, regional food, empanadas, everything is so good and at a reasonable price. You can get sauced on their cocktails made from typically Argentine liquors or have the Justicialista wine served out of a penguin. Peron Peron has a really nice ambiance, its lit by candles and soft light, its perfect for a quiet dinner that will provide you with a great opportunity to enjoy traditional Argentinian food. My Yelpers did not lead me astray here! This was probably one of the best restaurants I've been to in Buenos Aires, and definitely the best Argentinean one. Peron Peron is in the trendy Palermo area and it definitely fits in with its kitschy seating and decor. The service wasn't that great, but the food was truly spectacular and a welcome break from the meat heavy Argentinean menus. I had a lentil stew with sausage that I still think about today and my dinner companions really enjoyed their Portuguese meatballs and mushrooms. There were 6 of us who dined here and we each ordered something different to share with the rest of the table. As this restaurant is quite popular, it's highly recommended to call ahead of time and put your name down to reserve a table, where the wait tends to be a bit shorter than what they normally tell you. I personally ordered the Osso Buco, which I thought was divinely prepped and cooked. The meat fell off the shear bone and was extremely tender. My friends and family also ordered various steaks and soup dishes that complimented one another to be shared over a glass of malbec and sangria. If you are local, I highly envy your proximity to this hip and trendy Palermo restaurant. If you are traveling in the area and want a nicely cooked meal with a fun atmosphere, make sure to stop by!
