I brought my teenage son in for a haircut. He has long, dense hair that had some mats in it, but we wanted it all taken off and figured the barber could handle it. He takes one look at my son's hair and gives me an attitude. Says he doesn't usually work with long hair. We showed him a picture of a very basic cut and he said he doesn't think he can do it. My son has been to Pesco's before there several times after a couple years of hair growth and never had a problem. But this guy says he's not sure the cut is possible and we may have to compromise (???). My son gets in the chair and the barber commences a lecture about hair maintenance. The tone was shaming and condescending. My son knows he can't handle hair that long, which is why he was cutting it off! Then the barber says he can't cut my son's hair. Too dense, too many knots. My son was humiliated from the moment the interaction started, and this was the coup de grace. I can't in good conscience patronize Pesco's again. We shouldn't be leaving a business feeling mortified and disappointed. Be better. read more

Only barber in town that can cut fades anymore other than a flat top or something it's like you tell them to fade the sides and cut the top a little bit there response usually is a flat top it's like speaking a different language or something . After a haircut yesterday, my son happily declared he loved Pesco's and he would want Ed and Brian as guests at his wedding! Ed Pesco and Brian create a friendly, and comfortable environment that after your first visit you are one of the family. College students, go to a different barber shop. Went in recently to get a cut, tried to show the barber a photo of what I wanted. He barely looked at it and went "I think I have an idea of it." I showed him it again and emphasized the look I wanted. He said he knew what to do, so I put my phone away and he started cutting. Not a great experience overall- it seemed like he was barely paying attention half the time, he talked a lot with his co-worker (for most of my cut I was the only customer in the store) and he also constantly glanced at a tv playing in the corner. I asked for him to not go too short, but he ended up cutting my sides way shorter than what I wanted. He also did a sloppy job trying to cut my eyebrows, and did a messy job overall on the top. Ultimately I left feeling disappointed with the cut and wishing I had gone somewhere else, as the haircut was a poor match to the photo I had shown him. I'll see how it grows over the next week or two, but I ]will probably need to go to another barber to have it touched up. There were a couple pros- it was fast, and it wasn't expensive. However, it was overall a poor experience even for the lower cost, and is especially disappointing because they gave me a decent trim last Spring. Well, I guess you live and learn, and I will be trying someplace new next time I need a haircut in Ithaca. read more

I'm new to Ithaca and was referred to Pesco's for a great cut. Can't say that it has been less than great. Nice atmosphere, solid cuts, great barber conversation. Even candy by the plasma tv, if you need it. Extended hours during the week. All for only $16. DEFINITELY recommended to others. read more

Horrible barber in the back doesn't know how to trim! Gave me a military cut and i'm extremely mad. Will never go back.

Never again. The guy completely ignored my request and just gave me a buzzcut. I haven't had a violent haircut like that since the Marines. I must have been his last customer because he booked it out a minute after me. Spend the extra few bucks for a place that gives a damn about all of their customers, not just the regulars. read more
