Last year I knew I was going to have to deal with Lucky's passing, so I did a little research on crematories in the area. I met with Hilary Vessels of Paw Prints Pet Crematory and discussed the basic info regarding the services provided. It was because of Hilary's compassionate discussion I decided to use Paw Prints. Lucky passed on a Friday and Paw Prints arranged for one of their vans to pick her up on Monday. I received a call on Tuesday informing me Lucky was ready to come home. Arriving at Paw Prints, by chance, I was greeted by one of the owners, Nate Ferguson. He was very polite and truly compassionate. When bringing out Lucky I was pleasantly surprised. She was handed to me in a custom made fabric carrying bag. As I informed them I was awaiting delivery of an Urn, they provided a very nice complementary wooden container. Also provided was a clipping of Lucky's hair, A paper heart with wildflower seeds for planting, a prayer, a poem and a sympathy note from Paw Prints. Nate took some extra time to ask me about Lucky. It helped to have someone listen, the owners and the staff do that very well! I am very thankful and comforted to know that Lucky's final journey was provided by the loving family of Paw Prints Pet Crematory. They take great pride in making this a peaceful and meaningful process when you have to say goodbye to a furry loved one. I have worked in the veterinary industry for 16 years and the last time I had to put a pet to sleep it was a completely different experience than this one. The vet coordinated with them to do a home pick up for my mother and we received her ashes back a few days later. The service was impeccable from start to finish. Chris, the driver, took his time and was so considerate asking my mother if she was ready to say goodbye. He was gentle when he placed her on the gurney and assured us he would take great care of her and we believed every ounce of him. The urn was beautiful but the memento and kind words within the card were just icing on the cake. What an insensitive and dishonest business and owner. Do NOT allow your vet to send your deceased pet to this place, formally known as Paw Prints. (They changed the name to Pet Angels because they had so many problems like mine as Paw Prints, apparently, after a new owner took over.) Here's what happened: When I put my cat to sleep on 7/25, I asked my vet to get a cast of his paw print and a hair sample. When I received it, the hair was from a different cat. I knew this because it was the wrong color. I then looked at the paw print and it was obviously a different cat. The paw was too narrow to be my cat's. I know I can't prove the paw print, but the hair sample is indisputable. When my vet called them about it, they blamed his office. My vet and the people who took care of the cat had known him his whole 15 years, and I am confident they made no mistakes in preparing him and correctly identifying him for Pet Angels (the only pet that was picked up on that day from this private vet clinic). The real issue with this company is the complete denial of responsibility and total lack of empathy. While one might think, "Well, it's just a cat," it was my cat and my grief at his loss was and is real. That they were so cavalier with this, considering the business they are in, is completely unacceptable. While they refunded my money, they did not even try to contact me to apologize or take responsibility for their mistake in any other way (Perhaps they could have tried to find what I paid for! Obviously, I had someone else's paw print and I'm sure they would have appreciated that, as well.) This small token of my pet was supposed to be the last piece of him, my family member of 15 years, and they have taken that away from me. Shame on you, Pet Angels. read more

After the heart break of losing my 19 year old baby girl Mabel, I called and left a message to get a call back the next morning because I knew they were closed, to my surprise Kelly called me back within 10 minutes! The next morning we went in to set up putting my baby to rest properly and were helped by Kelly again and she was just and nice,warm and helpful in person. Our beloved Sam was put to sleep on September 24,2019 and we did not receive him back from here until today the 14th of October. When we asked the vet what was taking so long we were informed that the engraving was the issue the first time we call. How hard is it to engrave the name Sam. Then the second time we called we were told that he was just sitting on a shelf because the engraver was still broken! Really, Sam was not just a dog to us he was part of the family for 14 years and to know he was sitting on a lonely shelf somewhere while waiting for a stupid tag is a bit ridiculous. They could have mailed us the tag once they had the engraver fixed. Poor customer service. No apologies no nothing. Never again! read more

When I called, they made accommodations right away and they were so sincere over the phone. When I walked in, they gently took mojo to prepare him and they went over paperwork and details with me. Let me start at the beginning. I lost my cat Indy in January. Where I currently live we do not have access to a crematory. He sat in a freezer at the vet office for months. I was heart broken. Then came along a friend who was able to transport numerous pets from where we live to Jacksonville. Then to Paw prints where my friend and the staff took care of the pets. She was so pleased with the process that she shared her story to all of us. I was then able to get Indy. I finally had him home where he belongs. He is in a beautiful memory box. Kelly was so nice and helpful and understanding throughout the entire process. After hours, the calls go to her personal cell phone. She told me to call her at anytime, because my baby was being put down after 4pm, which is when they close. How do you really compare a type of business that hopefully you don't have to visit very often? What I can tell you is the experience my family and I had during an incredibly difficult time and to top it all off, being from out of town. So we lost our 8 year old Yorkie while visiting Jacksonville over the holidays. What timing right? We knew the time was near but it crept on us incredibly fast in just a matter of a couple of days. Unprepared, I called my best friend who had recently gone through the same experience. Two words came out...Paw Prints. Thank God for them. They made a sad moment in our lives, as comfortable as possible. When we arrived, Kelly was there to greet us and already knew who we were based on earlier phone conversations. It was close to closing but they said come on in, we'll wait for you. Kelly walked us through the process and didn't pressure us or steer us into getting anything we didn't want. She said her job was just to accommodate and help us out as best she could. That's exactly what she did. Being out of town and only there for a few days, along with New Years holiday approaching, she said we can prioritize our little one so we could take her home. Luckily, my wife was staying behind for work so there was no rush. When my wife went to pick her up, everything we got was touching. The paw prints were perfect, even had little whips of hairs. The clipping of her fur was perfect. They gave us a patch of all of her different color of fur and to top it off, clipped off her top pony tail which was our dog's signature. If you are reading this review, you are undoubtedly experiencing the same feelings that any devoted and loving pet parent goes through when they lose their baby. If your pet was "just a cat" or "only a dog" you wouldn't be researching afterlife care options at all, and you wouldn't be so emotionally connected to your decision. When my sweet Oliver passed away unexpectedly, I was faced with a difficult and traumatic question from the vet "What would you like to do with his body?" The moments that followed were perhaps the most unsettling and awkward that I could imagine. The last pet I buried was Rex, a German Shepherd...and that was awful. We selected an open field that Rex used to play in close to the house. Not even 6 months later, that open field of grass and memories was a Walgreens. Lesson learned. I've heard horror stories about burying a pet too shallow and the neighborhood animals digging them up -- I'm confident that would haunt me forever. Plus, what happens when we move -- I just leave Oliver behind? I was sickened. We grow so close to our pets in life, they become a part of the family and making that "final choice" just seems so, well...final. I'm a strong believer that the spirit of my Oliver did not "die" with his body in the vet's office that day, but when the words crossed my mind that they could "dispose" of him, it was unsettling. There is nothing dignified about the word "Disposal" - I put my leftover food down the disposal, my companion of 11 years is not disposable. I live in a world where we no longer refer to our trash as "garbage" it's now "waste management" or "recyclables," why would I choose to have greater respect for my empty milk jug and mayonnaise jar than my beloved kitty? While I knew I wanted to do something for Oliver, I still had a hard time accepting cremation. The finality of it scared me, as did the thought of not knowing "are the remains I receive REALLY Oliver?" Couple that with the dozens of other questions I had going through my head and I was pretty much a basket-case. Am I going to look like a crazy cat lady if I have an urn in my house with my cat's remains? How much does pet cremation cost vs. the free burial I could perform? What if I break the urn...will my Dyson that sucked up all of Oliver's fur in life be his final resting place if I accidentally bump the urn off the shelf? I tend to over-analyze most situations, but the decisions I needed to make would greatly affect my healing process and grief. I called a local pet cremation service and it was scary, I'm confident I wouldn't have given that guy my "waste management" much less my kitty. Then the next one on the list...it was worse than a used car salesman on the last day of the month. The "pitch" was scripted, high-pressure and unsettling. Sorry Sir, my baby Oliver is not a number for you to fill your sales quota. Then I spoke with the most compassionate and sympathetic person I've ever met (Nate) and my fears were subsided. He was a breath of fresh air in a very distressing time. Nate thoroughly explained the cremation process, his company and the package I would receive with the remains of Oliver. He answered every question I had and made every effort to console me throughout the process. His demeanor was not a "sales pitch" in any way, he was genuinely concerned for my well-being and grief. For the first time since Oliver's passing, I was able to accept his death and know that I had made a decision for his "final choice" that I could be proud of. Nate even answered my questions about Memory Glass (essentially blown glass with a small amount of ashes "suspended" inside) and offered to divide the ashes into separate bags so I wouldn't have to be stressed with that task later. Paw Prints picked up Oliver the next day, called me when he reached their facility to give me his Disc ID#, and then called again when he was ready to be brought home (the very next day). They offered to take him to my vet's office or provided convenient pick-up hours at their office. I chose to pick him up at their office and was very glad I did. Nate, Kelly & James were there and all three were so genuinely nice and sympathetic. They handed me my bag, explained everything in the package and let me know when I was ready to take a look inside. Even Red (Nate's adorable & spoiled Black Lab) offered his condolences and let me rub his tummy. They took time out of their day to chat with me and I could tell they wholeheartedly cared about their customers. The whole experience was dignifying and purrfect for my Oliver. I do not wish for anyone to experience the loss of a pet family member, but when that horrific time comes you'll be lucky and honored to meet Nate & Paw Prints. read more

WORD OF CAUTION - WHEN THE OWNDER OF A PET CREMATORY IS TELLING YOU HOW SUCCESSFUL BUSINESS IS WHILE YOU ARE GRIEVING AND TRYING TO MAKE ARRANGEMENTS FOR A BELOVED PET.........RUN!!!I I started using Paw Prints 5 years ago on the recommendation of one of my vets and this is the 5th time I have needed their services. I have been satisfied with them up to this point. On the 18th of this month, I lost a 20 year old foster and contacted Nate from Pawprints that same night. Due to medical issues I was not able to bring my little guy to his office as I normally do. He suggested I either get my little boy to the ER on Southside Blvd or he can have someone pick up my pup at home for a charge of $99. The charge for the cremation itself was $119, $20 more than the charge for a local pick-up I found a kind soul to get me and my little guy to the ER. I wasn't sure what my funds were at the time and advised Nate I may need to delay payment for a week. Because I was bringing my pet to the ER rather than to Nate directly, he advised me *ARRANGEMENTS WOULD BE MADE WITH THE VET, NOT HIM*. He would let them know, however that I was a long-time customer and would vouch for me. At the ER, I signed a promissory note with my payment and contact information which the ER agreed to. I also advised the ER I would call prior to the agreed upon date for debit but requested an arrangement allowing me enough time to confirm funds. That was fine she said. On the 24th, Sunday, I got 3 back-to-back calls from Nate and called him back immediately knowing something must be wrong to get so many calls w out any messages. *He advised me he had talked to the ER and was told no arrangements had been made for payment to the ER. I confirmed my arrangements and the fact that I was holding a copy of the promissory note as we were speaking and agreed to contact the ER to inquire. When I called the ER, I was lucky enough to speak with the same rep that handled the payment arrangements with me and she said there were *no problems with my account on their end and that Nate must have confused me with another client they had been discussing. She went on to confirm that my little guy had been picked up and that Nate would be bringing him back early in the week and the *ER WOULD HOLD HIM FOR ME FOR PAYMENT. Whew. I called Nate back to let him know and he thanked me for confirming with the ER. On the 26th, I called the ER and let them know funds were available for debit on the 26th rather than the 29th. I was also told that Nate had indeed picked up my little guy and that I would be able to pick him up that Thursday the 28th. I let them know I would be picking him up on the morning of the 30th as we were having a memorial service for him and that his original owners would be coming into town, one from out of the country, to pay their respects. I went to the ER this morning to get my little guy and the receptionist couldn't find him! She called Nate who advised her *he still had my little guy, holding him to confirm payment and that I could pu on Tuesday after the holidays. I called Nate after returning home and verified everything that transpired during the week with the ER as far as payment and pick-up. I also let him know my little guys original owners had come over for a little celebration of his life. They were his parents for the first 15 years of his life and were devastated to have to let him go. Nate's response, business was closed for the holiday and I could pick up my little guy at the ER on Tuesday. I told Nate the owners would be flying out tomorrow and Tuesday would be too late, expecting that as an owner he would be empowered to open up the business and get my little guy to us. After all, as he said, payment was between me and the ER. Why the long story you ask? As I said in the beginning, Nate was thrilled to tell me his business is growing by leaps and bounds and he had 140+ vets at the opening of his new location. He is, however very sorry for my loss and I can pick up my little guy at the ER on Tuesday. read more

Nate has taken care of 2 of my pets over the last 7 years. I met him through working at a veterinarian office. He cares so much and respects the passing of your pets, plus him and his staff could not be nicer people to work with. I could say nicer things about this company. I hope that I'm not limited on words because when it comes to Nate and Paw Prints, I just cannot say enough heart felt things about him and his business. I found Nate about five years ago when we lost our Australian Shepard Sydney. Our vet at Coral Reef highly recommended him. He came out himself , listened to my stories about Sydney and had so much compassion and love for animals that it made me feel so much at ease letting her go. Same experience when he personally returned her to me. He has so much love for animals, you know he is not in this for the money. I have recommended him to two family members who thanked me and had the same experience Well last week my son called me beyond upset , his 12 year old Napoleon died in his arms after being sick only two days . Dustin never went anywhere without him. He did a road trip to the Grand Canyon , Bryce Canyon & Zion in February with him, them both sleeping in the back of his make shift camper truck. Traveled to away games for the Jaguars, always with him walking around Riverside, camera on his shoulder and napoleon by his side. Everyone knew him! So we left the beach,probably about 6:30 headed to Riverside to be with him. I called Nate on the way, letting him know the situation and that Dustin might not be ready to let go of him for some time. Nate assured me that whatever time it was he would have someone out there to help us. I did not call him till probably 9:45. He answered right away with the most comforting heartfelt words you can imagine. His guys were there within an hour. These guys were just like Nate. He couldn't have found a better representation of his company. As much as we all love Napoleon and it was so hard on everyone, they made us feel comfortable, showed sympathy, and never rushed the situation even though they had to drive all the way back to Orange Park. Nate called me a few days later and said he wanted to personally bring Napoleon home. The kindness and love he has in his heart for animals just made this so much better for all of us. I believe the money spent is much less than what his service is worth. I now consider him a friend and would never use anyone else. If you loved your pet, please use Nate. I wish I could give this business TEN STARS! That being said , I cannot end without addressing the review dated 8/30/14 from Pet O I'm sorry for the loss of their pet but nothing in that review sounds like any of my experience's that myself or family members had. I've used him over four times and never once did he mention how successful his business is. Its just not in his character. Not him at all. If his business is successful its because of the love in his heart that he truly has for animals. read more

I work in Veterinary Medicine and Paw Prints professionalism is 100% above any other pet crematory.He has cremated several of my pets and foster dogs that were in hospice care.
